Taylor had a strange, pinching feeling in the pit of her stomach, as if she had eaten something bad. "What" Taylor echoed the word but she felt as if it was choking her.

Mistost waved his hand over the Eye of Karan. "Watch again," he commanded.

The mists covering the Eye cleared and this time they were looking down at a nursery inside a magnificent castle. Arched windows looked out to a cloudless day and slants of golden sunlight fell across the polished floorboards of the lovely room. An elaborate wooden cradle was set in the middle of the room and beside the cradle stood a beautiful red-haired woman and a tall, broad-shouldered, dark-haired man.

"Yawan," said Geodhun reverently. "And his Queen, Amaerilde the Red. I do not condone what the man chose to do, but he had so much potential." He tutted and shook his head. "Such a waste."
