Most of Nikolay's enemies were dead and the ones that were not were not people he couldn't handle. Aksel was the only vampire that had attacked Imani and that was because of Lucas. If Nikolay had stayed with Imani and Desmond, Imani would have never gotten associated with Lucas.

There was the case of Evaine and the rogue vampires but Nikolay wouldn't be caught up in that like he was now because if he had stayed with her, he would have left the position of vampire king to someone else. There was also the fact that most of the enemies he still had now would no longer hate him if he had stepped down from being the leader of the vampires.

"I don't..." he trailed off as he slightly furrowed his brows, looking confused, and Nia slightly tipped her head to the side while staring at him. "I don't know."
