Chapitre 15: Chapter 15

Rose and Cal order their food. Cal looks nervous, with his eyes darting everywhere and constantly looking over his shoulder. Still oblivious to the person watching them a few tables down.

"Cal, what's wrong?" He swallows his food hard, considering what to say, before deciding to play an oblivious card. "Well you're running from some guy and it makes me nervous. Are you not?"

She chews her food slowly, considering her answer. "No, honestly I'm not scared of being found. I'm just scared that he's a monster. I'm scared that he's waited for me my whole life. I'm scared he's mad that I've run away. I'm scared that when he finds me l'll be locked away in a dungeon and forced to have his kids and never see my family or you again. So I wonder if it's better to wave the white flag and surrender and accept this fate." She finishes talking and her eyes glimmer with tears.

Cal looks at her with shock and admiration. "Rose you're the strongest woman I've ever met. I'm game with whatever you want to do. You tell me, I'm there." She smiles at him and sniffles, grabbing his hand across the table "Thank you. I'm so glad you're here. I think I want to keep driving and go a little farther. Maybe have a week to ourselves before I'm doomed to this man." Cal shakes his head and takes another sip of his drink. "Eat up sweet cheeks, let's hit the road."

"Can you grab me a to-go box? I'm gonna hit the ladies room and then we can go." She stands up and grabs her purse. Her phone falls out onto the seat, she doesn't notice.

As she walks to the bathroom the lady behind the menu also stands up and follows her there.

Rose sits on the toilet and hears the bathroom door open, another person has come in to use the bathroom. She watches under the door as she sees women's bright red shoes walk by, and stop in front of her stall. She watches as a perfectly polished and manicured hand slides a note under the door and the feet quickly retreat and she walks out. Finished and put back together, Rose grabs the note and itching with curiosity, she puts it in her purse so she can wash her hands.

As she walks out of the bathroom she bumps into Cal as he walks out of the mens room. "Ready?" She nods her head and walks back to the table and plucks her to-go bag from the top of the table. Never noticing the phone sitting in the booth.

As she walks out, she looks for the woman with the bright red shoes and sees none anywhere. Dying to open the note she rushes out with Cal to get to the car, without checking to make sure she had all of her items.

As soon as the door of the restaurant closes and Rose is gone, a beautiful woman, wearing bright red shoes, walks over to the booth and plucks the phone up as if she'd dropped it there herself and slides it into her purse without a single person looking her way.

She walks out of the restaurant, and slides into her dazzling red Camaro and continues on with her journey, following Rose and Cal, hoping to find who... and what, she's looking for.

Authors Note:

Hey guys! I'm your anonymous author. This is a new book and I find myself struggling to write chapters because I'm not sure anyone is reading. :( If you're reading and following along with Rose's story, please drop a comment and let me know you want more. It drives me. :'(
