Chapitre 44: Dionysus Siblings
Ishana, the little girl, asked us to clean the storage shed, while she cleans inside the house, she told us to air and dust the place out, since it hasn't been cleaned for a long time now.
She wasn't kidding when she said it didn't get cleaned for a long time, it's like a dust tornado when we opened the door, Aster and I already coughed at the amount of dust that came out.
"Please do not use any spells, since my brothers have precious artifacts inside the Storage Shed, just use this duster, as well as the wipes"
"Alright"
She gives us the cleaning materials, before she goes back to the cottage house. Aster and I looked at each other and nodded.
We got to work dusting, airing and wiping the place, of course in order for us to clean everything we need to take out the items inside and let it out in the sun.
"D-Do you think t-that t-this items h-hold any value a-at all?" Aster questions, wiping a paw collection of small figurines.
"Ishana said that it's 'precious', so we shouldn't judge" I shrug, Aster hummed and nodded, continuing cleaning the figurines "I was wondering"
"Yes…?"
"Do you know where we are? Aster?"
"..." She looks at me for a moment before looking around the surrounding Area "I-I am afraid, I am n-not f-familiar w-with this place…" she tells me her eyes held sadness.
"But we are still in the Sun Empire, right?"
"M-Most likely" she nods "I c-can still f-feel the Elemental Crystals and Magi-Stone energy in the a-air"
"Is that your Psychic Power?"
"N-No i-it is just a t-talent I inherited f-from father...he says t-that if I am lost, I s-should calmly f-feel the vibrating resonance of t-the energy, s-since the Sun Empire's energy are o-one and the s-same"
"That's reassuring," I told her "but in what location are we in the Empire?"
"I- I cannot s-say"
"We should've asked Ishana. Where we are...we need to get back to the Capital"
"..." Aster is just quiet
I raised a brow at her silence, but didn't pry in what she's thinking, we continued cleaning at an even pace until we finished, we were putting back everything in its place, small boxes, figurines, chest and photo collections.
The photo collection isn't theirs though, since I don't see Ishana or her siblings anywhere, Aster also noticed that there isn't anyone relatively similar to what Ishana looks like, which is strange.
We didn't disturb the photo collections any further, both of us got weirded out by it, we returned the items clean and dust-free as well as the storage shed, while Aster gave me the items to return to the shelves, I noticed something strange on my wrist.
"This is weird"
"D-Did you f-find anything?"
"No...there's a smudge?" I tried rubbing it, but it didn't come off "Is this ink?" I said looking at the small-sword image on my wrist.
"Y-You seemed b-bothered by something…"
"I've never had any tattoo on my body, let alone want one, now I have this strange sword mark on my wrist that I never remembered I got," I told Aster.
"May I take a l-look?" She asked
I stepped down the small chair I was standing on and stretched my arm towards her, for her to take a look at my wrist, she inspected it and smiled.
"You d-do not have t-to worry, Princess," She tells me "i-it is just a weapon branding onto you"
"What does that mean?"
"The w-weapon has chosen y-you to be it's o-owner" I hummed tilting my head "it is similar t-to mine" she lets go of my wrist and shows her right hand, she shows me her palm and there is a mark similar to mine.
"It's an S with a dot above" I looked at it with curiosity.
"It's a staff" she clarifies, I gave a long 'O', to her "you summon, the w-weapon by" she holds her hand out at the side with the mark, and then a magic circle appeared hovering above her palm, a light appeared she grabs it and a beautiful staff that has a floating light blue orb above appeared.
"WOW!" I looked at her amazed "wait…" I felt cold so suddenly, my body instantly shivered.
"Ah!" She releases her grip and puts her hand on my arms "I'm sorry!" She quickly apologised "I-I forgot that w-when I use t-that staff c-cold air permeates I'm s-sorry"
"It's awesome!" I said with enthusiasm.
She warms me up by rubbing my arms with her hands, bringing her hand up and down in motion, my hands as well, I thanked her.
"A weapon b-brandish, l-like that is p-powerful, since the w-weapon stays t-true to the e-energy of Psych Power y-you have"
"So that means your power is Ice?"
"Y-Yes"
Just like Forsythia then…
I looked at the weapon brand on my wrist, If I pull this out will there be fire or something? I asked myself.
"I want to see the weapon too, but I'm afraid that I'd set this storage on fire," I told Aster
"W-We would be in t-trouble" she says
"Yep" I agreed
We finished what we were doing, and closed the storage shed, we sat at the steps of the Storage Shed, and rested.
"I was wondering…"
"Yes?"
"Where was Kristopherson the night of the attack in the Palace?" It was a question on my mind that I wanted to say, I didn't expect Aster to answer though.
"King Kristopherson rushed, t-towards the B-Banquet H-Hall screaming your n-name, Princess" I felt my cheeks heat up "T-Then a giant monster entered, t-the banquet h-hall"
"What happened to him?"
"He teleported, the monster, a-away f-from the B-Banquet H-H-Hall, C-Chancellor Luke and King Kristopherson, both of them, t-teamed up to d-defeat the giant s-shadow monster."
"So that's why I didn't see him…"
"He was worried for y-you…" Aster smiles at me "i-it looks like h-he cherishes y-you so, P-Princess"
"Haha…" I remembered the first meeting we had, I did not know that is the King, and we weren't supposed to meet each other before the Engagement Ceremony, something was about to happen, good thing he had restraint.
"A-Are you a-alright?" Aster looked at me with concern "y-you look red"
"Oh..." I looked away from Aster.
I need to put my head on my shoulder, not my hormones.
"Princess!"
Both of us looked up at the voice Ishana ran towards us smiling.
"Thank you for the help, it is time for lunch"
"We should get going then"
"My brothers returned from hunting, and we will have boar meat steak"
The girl beckons us towards her house, Aster and I follow the girl.
"Ishana how old are you?" I asked
"I'm already fifteen years old"
She looks like a ten-year-old, I gave an awkward laugh at my thought.
"Um...is all of your growth phases different from humans, vampires and wolves?"
"V-Very different Princess" Aster answered "A wolves body t-turns into adolescent by the age of t-twenty"
"I already thought so…"
"A vampire's body a-ages a-at the age of e-eighty years o-old, they hit p-puberty then"
"How old are you Aster?" I questioned.
"I am still at m-my early primes, f-forty f-five years old" she happily says
Her looks come off as twenty, not forty-five years old!
"Wolves and Humans aren't too different, but wolves need to mate at the age of thirty-five for both male and female"
"Mate...um does that mean?"
"Yes," Aster nods in confirmation.
"Yes, breeding season" Ishana added.
I blinked, processing the information, so they really are like d-
"Let's go"
Ishana cuts my train of thought.
We arrived at the cottage house, Ishana leading us to the dining room, when we arrived we saw an unfamiliar man with his back facing us, he was at the kitchen counter doing something.
"Um…" I looked at Aster, and she went closer to where I was standing.
I'm nervous too Aster.
"Hm?" He hummed and turned around, when he saw us he smiled "Welcome"
I thought he would have a gruff look, but he looks normal, Aster still kept herself close to me though.
"No need to be afraid, I won't bite"
I don't think that's the proper thing to say…
"Let me introduce myself, my name is Aden Dionysus, the second older brother of Ishana" he had a soft voice "It is a pleasure to meet you, Princesses"
"My name is Seraphine Gloxinia Stephanotis Bourgeon Convallaria Armaclei" He was surprised.
"You are the missing princess"
"And I-I am…" Aster hesitated
"She's Aster Virgo Vega" I spoke for her, she nods
"The Empire is looking for both of you"
"Really?"
"Although, that is what we heard, from the gossip mongers around"
"You should probably return to your Palaces"
Both of us jumped at the voice behind us, Aster and I looked behind us then looked up, an intimidating man was looking down on us.
"Eek!" Aster held my arm and buried her face on it
"H-Hi…" I stuttered intimidated at the man
"Samuel Dionysus" is the only thing he said before he walked around us.
"Um...can I ask you where we are?"
"You're still in the Empire"
"No, what I mean is where is this location that we are staying"
"Aren't you supposed to be smart? And you know everything about the Empire?" Samuel says, I don't like his attitude towards us.
"Unfortunately your image of a perfect and smart princess isn't what's in front of you, and I'm asking nicely, where is this place?"
"H-Hey" Aden immediately intervened before things escalated "Sam is nice, don't misunderstand him"
What he is showing is far from it.
"You are in Terra Queendom, the town of Leviticus"
"J-Just below the C-Capital of the T-Terra Queendom…" Aster says
"That's right" Aden nods
"Why are we still standing around?" Ishana says tilting her head "let's eat already!" She urges.
"Right," Aden says.
The meat is set on the table and the plates and cutleries are also prepared already, Aster and I both sat next to each other, while Aden distributed the meat, it was large.
"Thank you for rescuing us" I mentioned before I started eating.
"You are welcome" Aden happily says
"You didn't steal anything from the storage shed, now did you?" Sam asks.
"Why would we steal our saviour's objects? We aren't ungrateful" I spat at Sam.
"Sam" Aden warned, "Sam has a bit of a temper, but he is really a good guy"
Ishana and Aden are friendlier than the elder sibling, he looks serious not to mention he is harsh on what he says.
"..."
Maybe we need to warm up to these guys first before we ask them for a favour…
"It's surprising how you survive the Pink Stream, no one has ever survived that stream since it's also named the stream of the dead" Sam says while chewing, he had a straight face all this time.
"You're kidding right?" I said uncomfortable.
"It's true," Aden says.
"Y-Yes s-some of the people, t-that fell from t-the stream, d-drowns and dies immediately…"
"Did I just use half of my luck?" I said to myself staring at the meat on the plate.
"Better count your days then" Sam jokingly said.
I looked at Sam upset at what he said, Sam stared at me.
"Please excuse me"
I got up from the dining table and went to the room Aster and I are staying. It wasn't a good joke.
I don't want to die in this place.
"Princess?"
I heard Aster's voice, she enters the room and sits next to me.
"Are you o-okay?"
"I don't want to think of my death...what he said wasn't funny at all, I already endured a lot in this world" I admitted to Aster.
Both of us went silent and heard the brothers' argument, Aden is yelling at Sam to go and apologise to me while he refuses. I don't care whether he apologises or not, but I don't want to talk about death.
"...I wanted to die once"
Aster looked at me with shock, I chuckled at her expression.
Right, since everything was so repetitive and boring in my world, not to mention those memories of my forgotten sister and what happened at the Carriage in the past.
I was so sick of it, and I thought if I ended my life It would stop.
But Gabriel and my friends made sure that I won't do such a thing, they told me that death is far worse than living, they drilled it to me, that's why I'm afraid to die now.
Since when I'm gone they would be sad, and the people who know me would mourn for me, while I just float in an empty void.
But now facing death a lot more than I had when I was living in the human world, I'm getting more and more scared.
"S-S-S"
"Huh?" I looked at Aster, she was blushing furiously
"Seraphine!" She shouted, "p-please don't be s-sad anymore!" She tells me
"..." My expression changed into a faint smile, "you'd be sad too if I went and gone too right?"
"O-Of course!"
"Death is inevitable I supposed, I might get scared, but I should probably live with no regrets, especially help the Empire" Aster nods.
When the time comes...I hope I will peacefully depart.
