Chapitre 42: No proof, no crime!
" But we will wait till the people leave. "Mr.dayal suggests.
After hours they were finally able to get out of the gathering without being noticed by people.There were still many people in the hall but only the very close ones to the minister. Jake saw Mr. Hussain in the corner busy talking with someone.
He took a random glass from the waitress and walked towards the minister. However Mr. Hussain walked to another table along with one of his guests. He was surrounded by people and Jake could do nothing but to wait for them to leave him.
Moments later he was finally all alone and Jake walked towards him. Before he could catch up with him, Mr. Hussain went straight towards the corridor. Jake followed he's pace.
He was so consumed in following the minister that he even bumped into a person and was almost near to fall. He mumbled a sorry as he looked for Mr. Hussain again.
Jake ended up in front of a door. He then realized he was already in the basement. He opens the door to see the minister and his people surrounding him. The man was sitting on an armchair with his face lit up as the corner of his lips lifted to greet Jake.
He knew he was being followed.
Jake noticed his brother sitting next to him on the sofa. Everything that Mr Dayal said to him came back as flashbacks in his mind.He felt like he was going to lose his temper but was quick enough to realize his current mission.
" Welcome. Welcome Jake! "He greeted with the same smile on his face. He asks him to take a seat.
" You knew it. Why didn't you stop me then? "Jake says.
" Well I wanted to talk to you too. As you were already eager to see me I just needed to pave the way to you. "He says as he asks the guy next to him to pour some tea.
" Here"he served the tea to Jake.
Jake immediately takes it and keeps it back on the table.
"So.Did you make up your mind? "The minister asks.
"For what? " Jake answered.
"To switch sides. "He says letting out a big laughter.
" What do you think? " Jake chuckled.
"I guess you will make the best decision. "
"Why do you think I will support you? "
"Because I have known you for years. You will never repeat your mistakes. Now that you know that even if Vikram tries his level best or gets these officers for help he will still lack behind. Sometimes he gets lucky and collects some clues.You are just one of his lucky charms. Once you are not of any other use, he will throw you out of his office. So just join us already."
"Exactly, you will never face any problem with us. " The minister's brother says.
"Hmm… and what will I get if I choose you over Mr. Dayal?"Jake asks.
" You will get your job back and maybe your family will trust you again. "Mr.Hussain says.
" Why should I trust you after getting me into jail for something I never did? "
"That was sort of a punishment to you. We thought you would return back to us but Vikram got you and are now loyal to him. Remember this,you were once one of my most loyal employees? "
"So? "
"Wait, did you tell your so-called team that you were the head bodyguard of the minister? There were people who obeyed you, your salary was enough to feed yourself and your family. You did not tell them right? " The brother says with a smirk.
Jake stays silent for a while.
"Why didn't you tell him? Oh!….you are afraid that your team will never believe you? Vikram will recognize you because you helped us a lot while he tried to unveil us? " The minister says.
Jake looked up straight to the person's eyes. He clenched his fist but did not even move a little. Hes mouth tightened.
"He's the same VD we talked about earlier! Then what happened? Why did you change all of a sudden? " He says, crossing his arms.
Jake was genuinely feeling sorry about what he did earlier when he was with the minister. He remembers how he cleared some information before someone could find them and never knew that the officer against whom he was plotting these was Vikram Dayal, VD. He just did what his master told him to do but only till he came to know the true colors of his employer.
"Because I know your true self, the truth behind all the things you did! " Jake shouted.
"And that is why you ended up in jail! " The minister shouts back.
"Look how disrespectful you have become. " The brother says.
"Yes! If it's people like you, who can't even take a simple rejection then I feel no respect towards you! "
Jake said, holding back his anger.
"So he already confronted the true reason, huh! Now, what? What will you do? Do you have any proof? "The minister asks.
Jake could notice where this whole conversation was going and he really didn't have enough time to talk bullshit with these people. He had to take action quickly.
" No, I don't have any proof." He answers with a grin.
The minister looked towards his brother then they both started laughing. Jake looked at them without uttering a single word.
"What is up with this boy? What are you even thinking? Don't you understand, no proof, no crime! "
The minister stated.
"That's what I am trying to make Dayal understand"
Jake blurted and smirked.
"What do you mean? " They say in unison.
"I'm planning on switching sides. Again! "
