If I had given him an order, and been ignored then we might be in trouble. I pretended to be asleep for about an hour as the rest of the merchants that had been forced to group up complained, and set camp themselves. They were slow, and quiet at first, but as they continued to go apparently unnoticed they got more comfortable. Some even had the gall to complain about their lost merchandise. Wyatt had been wearing a sly smile when they were cut loose, and he took a good half an hour to come back to me so I was pretty sure that at least some of them had survived.
The other reason I was sure they survived was because the pack started pursuing us again. The pack wouldn't have bothered with us if they already had a good meal that wasn't as much work. It made me feel a little better to know that in a one on one battle I could handle the vast majority of these elves with ease. Whip wasn't my preferred weapon, but I had put in the hours to make it look as if it was. I wished I could get my daggers back from Wyatt, but he insisted on carrying our masks as well as signature weapons while we were in the city.
I understood why while we were in the city, but now I kind of wanted them back. It was hard to wield a whip with as much skill as it was daggers. Daggers were a close guarded weapon meant for when your enemies drew close. A whip was a suppression measure meant to keep enemies at bay. It really wasn't my style of weapon at all.
After the guards scanned through our belongings I was actually kind of glad that he had all evidence of what we were doing on this planet. He had probably assumed that I would slip up, and use my favorite weapon. I wasn't that stupid. Yet I couldn't blame him too much. We hadn't been alone since we left the city.
Slaves did not get spatial storage devices. I was pretty sure that the only reason they hadn't noticed the one on Wyatt was because it was made from his own flesh. I'd scanned through him myself a few times, and was a little disturbed to realize that if his swords weren't in plain view I would have a hard time decerning them from his own flesh as well. I rolled slightly on my makeshift bed, and settled in a little deeper. I knew how much of a light sleeper Wyatt was from experience.
It had been a little over an hour since he'd collapsed into the wall quietly. The rest of the merchants wouldn't push their luck after my bodyguard's considerable show of power. We'd draw suspicion if we tried to leave before daylight so for the time being all I could do was sleep or gather information. I doubted there was much information I could glean from merchants that weren't ranked much higher then myself so that could wait for now. I was pretty sure they would seek me out in the morning.
No need to go after them. I was used to falling asleep in uncomfortable positions on uncomfortable surfaces so I knew when the warm embrace of sleep would soon overtake me. Dawn wasn't far away. Two or three hours of sleep would allow us to pick up the pace tomorrow. Getting away from this group was one of our priorities after all.

I felt the familiar burn of over stressing my muscles setting in as I stretched against the stone wall behind me. The vast majority of my minor wounds had already healed. My broken fingers weren't far behind either. I didn't think of the lack of claws before abandoning my weapons last night nor did I really care. It was still dark out when I woke up, but it was obvious that some time had passed.
Sekka still hadn't settled into a proper deep sleep so he'd only recently fallen asleep. I made no effort to move any more then I already had because of the number of eyes that were on me now. I smirked to myself thinking of the eight surviving slaves I'd managed to steal from them when they cut them loose. A painful pulse of power made my insides feel as if they were twisting back in of themselves. I checked the system briefly while still pretending to be asleep.

It was a long ridiculous spiel as usual. I was kind of gland I'd minimized it as much as possible. I still liked the numerical representation of my stats, and strengths, but the amount of spells I could now use as well as the number of poisons I'd learned to create would be a huge hurtle to read every time I pulled this mess up. I skipped straight to the bottom of the huge mess for the information I was actually interested in. Forty-three?
