"Father?" I stared in disbelieve as my father looked at me and gave me a smile? My Father was smiling at me? Wait, that wasn't even the main issue here, what in God's good name was he doing here, In Paris!

"Welcome back Rica" His gruff voice said, still with that same smile on his face. Okay something was wrong. No, everything was wrong.

After getting over my shock I cleared my head and asked the obvious question that desperately needed to be asked "Father, what are you doing here?" 

Waving his hand in a dismissive manner he told me "You know your mother isn't here, you don't have to speak so formally" Okay now I was more than confused.

"Okay Dad" I said using a cautious tone to see how he'd react. Nothing? So far so good I guess "What are you doing here, In Paris. And on such a short notice?"

"I was invited here" Was his curt reply.
