chapter 25 | Cas
Fuck Irina what are you doing here?
I felt myself freeze as my eyes refused to tear themselves away from Irina being dragged in with chains around her wrists and ticker ones around her feet. She looked confident but I could see the sweat running down the side of her head.
I looked back at Aunt Adaora to see her eyes were now on me. They grew into slits as she failed to recognize but she still held her stare. I widened my eyes when we caught each other's glances and she tilted her head.
"Who is this?" Adaora demanded, turning her eyes back to her new victim. Her lips curled up in disgust.
"We are not sure of identification my Queen, she is the only remaining person for the capturing we were supposed to do today" Someone read out shakily. She turned her intimidating gaze to him.
"Read out the job"
"U-uhm" The reporter choked "Someone caught wind that the fugitive Hibiscus was sighted in the kingdom and reported it to the palace and we immediately took action" Adaora tilted her head condescendingly.
"Correct me if I'm wrong but this woman in front of me in not Hisbiscus is she? The reported trembled.
"No your majesty...she is not"
"Then WHO IS THIS!?"
Her anger rolled off of the windows and touched the spine of everyone in the rooms. People shifted uncomfortably, happy they were not experiencing her rage first hand. "This is an accomplice of hers.
This made Aunt Adaora silent. She waved off the man and he practically flew to his seat. "Well don't just stand their looking half-witted come and confess your sins" She spat at Irina.
Irina shivered a bit but still kept her head high as she walked up to Adaora. "What's your name girl?"
"My liege she is-
"SILENCE" She boomed, her head snapped to the man "Did I ask you?" He shook his head feverishly "Exactly now you" She directed her attention back to Irina "Your name" she gritted " Spit. It. Out."
"Irina" She bit back with a similar sass. Adaora smirked.
"You must have borrowed that attitude from Hibi hmm? Well, it'll only get you broken bones in my court so drop. It." Irina nodded quickly.
"You're from Hearts aren't you?" Irina nodded again "Ahh one of Lucinda's children" I winced at the mention of my mother's name.
Fuck I gotta get us out of here.
Think think think!
I looked back at the guards and took a look around the room. There were light switches that I assume controlled the lights here. But there were situated behind the guards which meant I needed them to move.
What can I say that'll get a good enough rise out of everyone...
I looked down at the female warriors that lazed in their seats, seemingly bored with the whole ordeal. What does Adaora hate more than anything?...
Traitors.
I picked a few fake suspects and quickly send out an internal apology. The first one I picked was the guy I came here in with. When we were about to enter we were asked to dispose of any and all weapons outside but I managed to grab one and hide it just in case.
I slipped it into his back pocket, making it as visible as possible before going up to the guards. They both shot me glares until I put my hands up to show no harm. I pointed to the mans pocket and their eyes narrowed.
"I got a tip that there are some spies in the room, around five to ten, no more no less"
That's what set them off. They immediately jumped into action. Startling the whole court as they caused a ruckus.
"What is the meaning of this!" The guards detained the man, as he yelped out profanities.
"You majesty there seem to be a few rats in the room" The court erupted in gasps. A dark and angered look spread across Adaora's face.
"An entire search will be done...IMMEDIATELY" Whispers spread across the room which were followed by looks of worry.
"I would never your majesty! I was set up, I was-
I turned off the lights.
That's when the entire room dissolved into chaos as screams were let out. People pushed past me to get to the door to leave but I pushed forward to get to Irina. "Someone turn on the lights!" The queen hollered but no one tried.
And if anyone did I doubted they'd be successful considering I jammed the lights with the swords of nearby armour.
In the ruckus, I noticed that Irina was left to her own devices. Before moving towards her I glanced at the throne to see Adaora gone. I had a bad feeling about that but let it go as I immediately grabbed Irina.
She thrashed in my arms but I covered her mouth tightly before she could scream. "Shut up" I muttered darkly in her ear which seemed to do the trick. She let out a breath of relief and relaxed in my arms.
I began to drag her towards the doors she was let out of. We got to the other side and were immediately stopped by a tan woman with short braids. She had a fierce look of annoyance on her face and she didn't seem to be looking for any bullshit.
"Where are you taking the prisoner?" I cleared my throat.
"I will be leading her back to her cell, I was asked to make sure she didn't escape" I gruffly stated in my most believing tone. The woman's eyes softened before narrowing.
"I've never seen you before in this kingdom" Alarm ran across my system.
"I- um I am new! And I'm still being shown the ropes around" She nodded before looking at Irina and back at me.
"And what is your name?" I cleared my throat.
"Casper ma'am"
Fuck you Hibiscus.
"Well, Casper at the end of this hall is the exit. The cells are on the other side of the courtyard. you can't miss it" I nodded sternly and she nodded back.
She left us to go back into the pitch-black courtroom. I dragged Irina down the hallways until we were at the exit. I checked for guards and when I couldn't find any I relaxed. I removed my hold from Irina and she immediately turned to face me, her face red with anger.
"I thought I told y'all to escape!" Her blue eyes were blazing with rage.
"Oh trust me, I didn't want to come save your ass either. Hibi forced me too". Her face softened at the mention of Hibi before erupting in panic.
"Hibi where's Hibi!?"
"Wow gee, I'm fine thanks for asking" She shot me a gut-clenching glare which sobered me up fast "She was coming to get you, we thought you'd be in the dungeons".
A look of fear ran over her face "She's in the dungeons?" I blinked.
"Well if you're not there I doubt she'd be much longer" Irina ran her hand through her locks that were falling lazily out of their braid.
"We need to find her" I raised an eyebrow.
"We?"
She shot me another glare "Actually you"
I frowned "Me?!" She nodded "Why me?"
"You owe me one" My eyebrows raised in confusion.
"How?"
"I haven't told Hibi your littLe, actually fucking big secret" She tilted her head "And you owe Hibi big time for all she's done for your ungrateful ass" I groaned.
"This is blackmail" She sighed.
"Look it's not just the fact that you definitely need her help if you're planning on surviving the real world but I'll be arrested on sight, no one knows you here-
Tell that to my aunt
"Which means you can get in and out of the castle and come out with Hibiscus" Her reasoning made sense, but that didn't mean I liked the plan.
"How am I supposed to do that?" She grabbed my shoulder and pointed at a building to the left of this one. "If she escaped she should be there, hopefully, she didn't have any complications so you go and get her and then go there"
She pointed to a few stables "You get your butts on a horse and you fucking get out of here" I raised an eyebrow at her.
"And what will you be doing?"
"I'll only hold you back so I'll get out of here. I should be back in East by sunset" I nodded.
Irina bit her lip "Caspian you need to hurry because if someone else gets to Hibi first... it won't end well" My blood ran cold.
"What do you mean it won't end well?" She looked down.
"If Adaora gets to Hibi first then she's as good as dead".
