1.-Typology of Monsters and Other Beings.

Classification of Paranormal and Supernatural Creatures into several branches.

Despite the basic differentiation between Supernatural and Paranormal, and that most creatures possess unique traits to them, many unnatural beings share many traits and differ from one another in some characteristics, making it easy for us to classify them into several categories, with the current 9 of them defined below.

1.- Apparitions.

Apparitions are all those beings that are often ethereal and invisible, although most of them can manifest in their physical forms, thanks to a substance called 'Ectoplasm'.

They drain vital energy from living beings and can be easily identified by their 'ghostly' and spiritual nature. They might be invoked or exist through other mediums, such as being born from natural catastrophes or being the corrupted souls of dead people.

Although not all of them are naturally hostile and dangerous, the ones who don't depend nor are attracted to human's vital energy, and sometimes help them fall under another category denominated: 'Angels'.

Ghosts, Phantoms, Poltergeists, Wraiths, Orbs, Lost Spirits, Linked Guardians, Dullahans, and Banshees, for citing some examples, all fall under the category of apparitions.

2.- The Undead.

Although some types of apparitions are also technically undead beings, the difference resides in the fact that the undead is not ethereal beings, nor can switch between spiritual and physical forms (Except for Revenants).

Most of them are the product of Necromancy, the magic of manipulating the forces of death and life, with a dark focus on death.

Zombies, Mummies, Revenants, Flesh Slaves, Rotkids, Draugr, Ghouls, Lich, Vykrolakas, Skeletons, and Wights are the most common example of Undead beings.

3.-Hybrids.

Most hybrids –if not all- are exclusively paranormal beings, and they often resemble bizarre mixes of animal beings, although some of them have human characteristics in their extravagant morphology.

Some have the capability of reason, just like humans, although that doesn't mean that they are friendly or beings of good (or even neutral).

Succubi, Incubi, Centaurs, Sirens, Fauns, Pans, Harpies, Lamias, Hippogriffs, and Bai Ze are all common examples of Hybrid beings.

4.- Vampires:

Vampires are a special case; they share many characteristics with both Undead, Hybrids, and Cursed beings —the former described in the later section.

The main difference with them lays in the fact that they need to consume blood for survival, (although some have been seen eating the whole victim), are extremely long-lived —if not virtually immortal— and have a natural weakness against solar light, fire, and angelical beings.

Bloodsuckers, Venomous bats, Alps, Unpure, and Pure Vampires, as well as Vampire Overlords, are the most known vampiric types.

(Some might consider Vykrolakas and Ghouls to be vampiric too, but these two creatures, unlike the rest of true vampires, don't rely on blood for survival, and are unaffected by solar light, although they aren't less resistant to fire than any other creature.)

5.-Cursed Beings.

Cursed beings are the least natural of them, meaning that there are not any 'pure' creatures belonging to the cursed category. All of them are the victims —Or even voluntaries— of certain types of magical curses or illnesses, such as lycanthropy, that, like the undead, produce negative outcomes to the victim, such as mental and physical pain.

Werewolves, Poroniec, Frogmen, Slervants, as well as Vinculed Concubines are all examples of Cursed Beings.

6.- Beasts and Humanoids.

Although they share some characteristics with hybrid beings, such as resembling animal forms and being almost exclusively paranormal, beasts and humanoids distinct in the fact that they might resemble either exclusively animal or human physiologies.

Goblins, Ogres, Leprechauns, Nymphs in all their variants (Except Fire Ones), Giant Spiders, Giant Scorpions, Trolls, and Krakens fall under the category of 'beasts and humanoids'.

7.-The Stonebuilt.

The Stonebuilt, despite their name, might not necessarily be made of stone. They are artificial creatures made for protection purposes, although they are extremely rare and we haven't seen many specimens.

Gargoyles, Golems, and Fleshcutters are some of the most common examples that can be found.

7.-Demons.

Demonical beings are some of the most dangerous and powerful beings observed. Some define them as supernatural, albeit others might call them exclusively paranormal beings, coming from a world where their laws of nature are different from ours.

They have been documented sealing deals and other pacts with mortals, and on more than one occasion have tried to enslave humanity, but whether they are immortal or not —talking in the sense that they don't age, as it seems that they can be killed just as any other creatures— Is up to debate.

Imps, Djinn, Nephilim, Minor and Major Knights of fire, Fire Nymphs, Hellcans, are some examples of demons, without mentioning the popular names of some higher entities.

8.- Plantoids.

Plantoid beings are another unique case. As the name indicates, they are organisms made of plant physiology; consisting of flower reproductive systems, leaves, stems, and more, variating from subject to subject, contrasted to the rest of supernatural and paranormal beings.

Most of them are neutral in nature (With the only exception being the gentle and shy Sunfloweras), whereas some are known to trap and eat flesh in regularity, making no distinction like their victims.

Giant Venuses, Sprout webs, Fly Maulers, Sunfloweras, Pitchers, and Crowned Belladonnas are commonly mentioned, although some are believed to be extinct.

9.-Angels

Angelic beings, the most commonly misunderstood group, are creatures that have been demonstrated mercy, a helping nature, and other auxiliary traits towards humanity.

They share many traits with apparitions and hybrid types, although their lack of interest in human energy, their highly magical abilities focussing on light, and no clear distinction between ethereal and physical, separate them from the other two groups, along with a long list of other traits.

Compared to popular drawings and personifications, in most cases, they aren't the 'winged' humans that texts and art pieces portray them to be. Although many can change their physical appearance, they are described as being 'horrid aberrations; products of the worst trip', such as counting with dozens of wings and hundreds of eyes, or being ring-shaped and covered by fire, although there is no solid evidence about these specific descriptions.

They don't seem to be united by a single deity, but we certainly do not know much about them. Some say that they are the guardians of the universe's balance, although no one is sure about that statement either, nor if they respond to a God higher than anything we know and we do not.

Guardian Angels, Holy Spirits, Cherubims, Lightstrikers, Ascended Spirits, Archangels. Thrones, Light Centellas, and the legendary Seraphims are the most commonly cited examples of them.
