Chapitre 14: Life Saving Features
"Jonathan! What's going on it sounds like you are getting assaulted." Jonathan's heart was racing so much that he struggled to make a sentence." Aiden, a white collar found me and now he is about to peel my armor off! He's already cut me. I am gonna die!" Aiden stumbled around and said,'' Hold on Jonathan you can activate a heating feature that should melt away any metals trying to enter your suit. However with the blade inside your suit i don't know if you'll be okay afterwards. To activate it say suit blaze on." "Suit blaze on!" The suit started to super heat fast enough to catch Forty seven off guard. He got burned making him back of Jonathan losing his grip on the blade. Jonathan pulled the semisoft blade from his chest plate. He groaned in pain as the suit remained hot. The suit warned him that he was about to catch the carpet on fire. Jonathan got up and had an idea. " suit how much time do I have before the heat turns off?" The suit replied with the starting to get familiar female robot voice. You have approximately five minutes left. Jonathan smiled thinking he was gonna win this fight. Forty seven not knowing what had just happened saw Jonathans walk change from broken man to a strutting one. Forty seven also noticed that he was walking straight at him before he could run Jonathan slammed his whole body into a wall burning him up. With the last bit of strength Jonathan could muster he tossed Forty seven out his kitchen window breaking yet another window in his house. Fortyseven hit the ground with a disturbing thud and Jonathan knew the cops would have to be called. He powered down the suit and collapsed into his slightly charred couch.
After a few minutes of rest he got up preparing to move the body of Forty seven. When he got downstairs he was struck with panic the body was gone! Jonathan walked away and headed towards a pharmacy that was only a few blocks away. He really needed painkillers. On his walk he could really focus on anything other than the painkillers he wanted no needed. "Jonathan! Hello can you hear me?" Jonathan talked without care," Hey Aiden i am really tired. He beat me up good. I burned him though and tossed him out a window. I'm pretty sure he landed head first." "Oh good! I was worried you didn't make it man it's been like a half hour since i last heard you speak. Did you make sure his head hit first if you don't damage his brain the guy won't die. When the white collars get hurt or have a fatal battle wound can heal it all as long as their brain is fine. Are you curtain he is dead?" Jonathan walked in silence until he saw the pharmacy," Aiden i don't know if he is dead. When I went to check on the body it was gone. I just need some medicine to help with the pain. My body hurts all over but mostly my chest does. Jonathan walked into the store with a limp and he wasn't moving his left arm. It wasn't broken or dislocated, it just hurt a lot to move. The pharmacist on standby looked at Jonathan and said," Ahh do you need to go to a hospital? You look broken man." Jonathan said with an angry tone," I am fine mind your own business. Where is your strongest pain killer." The pharmacist smiled and pointed," Aisle three half down the row on the bottom shelf." Jonathan chuckled as he walked towards the counter. Thinking to himself," Haha that is ironic that you have to bend over to get to the stuff that will make the pain go away. Grabbing the strongest box he found he bought them. The clerk tried to stall him but he had figured they called the police and he didn't want that at all.
On his way back he took the recommended dose chasing the pills down with some water he had bought.
Then he talked with Aiden again," Aiden what the heck man you lied to me! You said that the suit can take a bullet yet the white collar guy punched past my armor hurting me man." " Jonathan I just want to say it can stop the bullet and it will still hurt you. Though the white collars can punch much harder than a simple nine mill. So the back that you don't have a broken body means my suit did its job. By the way that is its seventh generation making updates needed for the user to survive. So just be thankful you didn't die because six other users did to make it so sturdy!" Jonathan felt the sorrow coming off Aidens tone. " Aiden I'm sorry. I am just hurting a lot. What happened to the others. It feels like you are hiding something from me when it comes to this suit." Aiden sighed," I guess it doesn't really matter if you know this. Just keep in mind this will be hard to say. The last user of the suit wanted the same dragon design. I made it and She looked awesome in it. But it had a design flaw I didn't see at all. But with hindsight it is clear as day. The last few users of that model were family. It started with my eldest brother. We found out it was not bullet proof enough. The next one we found out radiation could get through it. We fixed the last few issues. But the last one was my younger sister." Aiden choked up and Jonathan could feel the sorrow and regret. After a few minutes of Aiden silently sobbing Jonathan reached his block and just sat at the curb across from Mary's place he knew which window was hers. Judas had pointed it out. He waited for Aiden in silence.
"Okay Jonathan I am back. Hello" Jonathan replied to Aiden and Aiden continued. " So the last user was my younger sister. She wanted the suit to look badass. I made that happen reluctantly if I was leading then I wouldn't have sent her out on the last mission. She was so smart and made many friends. The mission went bad fast and I got to hear her screams as they peeled the suit off her. To spare details it was bad. After that I added the heat element which would've saved her life." Jonathan began to tear up for the man he knew as Adien. He could tell Aiden meant a lot more than he said and that he held the death of the six other people on his shoulders. " Aiden I don't really know what to say. I want to say I'm sorry but that seems like a copout so I will fight this war with you. No worries, let's win you a war." Jonathan purposely sounds cheerful but in reality he was scared and sad for his new friend. He heard Emma in the background followed up by Aiden signing off. He was about to get up when he heard footsteps approach him.
Jonathan's head shot up and he saw Mary walking outside in sweatpants and a tank top. She was looking at him with a unique expression he had no idea what it meant. She sat next to him. " Hey what's wrong?" Jonathan was shocked he had not even expected anyone to notice or care enough. " Umm i just heard some sad news from a friend and well my body hurts all over. It's nothing to really worry about." Mary gasped," wait did you get into a fight? Why does your body hurt? Also I'm sorry about your friend." Jonathan didn't want to say anything but he shrugged while saying,' well. I guess I took care of your stalker. He will probably be looking for me now to get revenge." Mary gasped again," You what! Did you attack the stalker guy just to keep me safe?" Jonathan felt a surge of pride," Well yes i did. But it was more like he attacked me and I was just defending myself." Jonathan leaned towards Mary. She looked mad and said,'' That was not your place. I was gonna call the cops to get them arrested. You don't get to play vigilant because you want to. Next time let the police handle the problems." Jonathan leaned away from her," I was not expecting that answer." Mary rolled her eyes and said with a sarcastic tone," what you had been expecting an oh thank you big strong man would you like a thank you kiss?" She said the last part with a higher tone than she usually spoke.
After a little bit of scolding from Mary Jonathan asked a question he had been wondering about," Hey Mary why did you soome out here?" She replied without a mad tone," Judas saw you sitting out here and wanted me to check on you. I am pretty sure he's peeking through the window now. Jonathan had a weird mixed feeling about what he had heard. Did she like him enough to come out here in the cold or was it because she wanted to please her son. Jonathan looked up to see Judas waving at him. Jonathan waved back and from Judas's view he saw Jonathan produce flowers from thin air as he handed them to Mary. Jonathan knew that amazed Judas and would make him laugh for a while. Mary looked surprised as well. " Think of these as a thank you present for worrying about me." Mary laughed and excused herself after she had shivered. The small window of her shaking from the cold and leaving allowed Jonathan to notice how cold she actually was. He wished he had brought a jacket to have given her. " Hey Mary!" Jonathan yelled. She turned around and Jonathan followed up with," Thank you. This meant a lot." She smiled, waved at him and then crossed her arms as she turned around going back inside. Back inside Jonathan ploped on his couch again and found himself smiling as he passed out.
