Pretty soon Dae came out of the room, wearing his neatly cleaned office formal attire and adjusting his necktie. While walking towards the living room, he saw Yeon and Suho were whispering something among themselves and he decided to eavesdrop on them by standing at a distance, which was obviously one of his favorite hobbies.
"Reaper 299, what is the matter you wanted to discuss?" Yeon caressed hairs from his forehead while asking him with a straight face.
"Well, I had met Mr. Lucas yesterday. We had some chit chat about you." Suho's facial eloquence transformed into an anxious one at the beginning of their conversation.
Yeon didn't seem pleased with his answer and sulked his grimace. "May I ask what business an angel has with someone particularly a grim reaper like me? And why did you bother to talk?
"Ahh, Reaper 999, I know it very well that you despise angels." He tapped his feet cryptically and folded his arms while speaking to him. "But believe me, he is not like the rest of them--"
"And why shouldn't I despise them?" All of a sudden Yeon raised his voice a bit infuriated at him and rolled his eyes. "They are blessed as God's favorite ones... Even if they are rude or arrogant, they get all the appraisals from God just because they are the angels!
These ignorant humans live with the belief that angels are kinder just as they are shown in movies and dramas, but they should see their real faces! The way those angels look down on us, just because we are atoning our sins by guiding the dead souls...I can't bear my wrath for them." His face looked completely shadowed with a hidden agony.
"Angels are being cruel too? But isn't it the job of devils? Woah, I can't believe it! There are so many mysterious things concealed in this world!" Dae stood still behind the wall while wondering with a frowning gesture.
Suho lowered his gaze from his face and gulped his saliva anxiously. From his gestures, it seemed that he knew about the fact that why Yeon suddenly got hyped up.
"I won't deny your accusations. But... Mr. Lucas seemed a bit concerned for you, Reaper 999." He murmured.
"Concerned my ass!" He exclaimed with a mocked tone and leaned his back against the couch wall they were sitting upon. "They all are the same, wearing a mask of kindness above to fool the ignorant humans. Anyway, what did he tell you?" He grumbled with an angry tone.
"Well, he had told me a bit about God's intention regarding you. It's been already more than 400 years since you are performing your duty of atoning your sin. Probably, soon enough, you will be provided with a few more important commitments to fulfill and if you succeed in it, you can be freed from your curse and would be eligible to enter paradise." His voice sounded a bit glum as he was talking about his departure.
"What?"
Both of them flinched with the sudden scream behind them and turned their gazes behind to glance at the person who shrieked. It was Dae, who couldn't press his anxiety any longer as soon as he heard about this startling confrontation. He rolled his eyes in awe and continued staring at him in a daze.
"Mr. Yeon? You are here for 400 years? And...You will be leaving?" He looked completely startled.
Suho was baffled by his sudden interruption and stood up from the couch in surprise. He glanced at both of them and their gazes were fixed upon each other.
"Why were you eavesdropping on us? It's a really awful thing to do that." He seemed a little displeased with his interference and scouted his question.
"That's not the important point right now." Dae walked boldly towards him and continued bickering with him in a fretful resonance. "Will you seriously be leaving after fulfilling your duties? But you are a divine creature! I have read that those divine creatures are eternal!" He looked a bit intense.
With a deep sigh, Yeon stood up from the couch and smiled at him with a sad face. "Not only favoritism exists on earth, but on up there too. Angels are generally immortal creatures as God has been always on their's side.
To be specific, grim reapers exist from the divine curse. Once we fulfill the atoning of our sins, we can perish to heaven where our souls can rest forever. But... as we are cursed souls, we won't get to reincarnate again." His voice sounded a bit glum and enchanted with sadness.
"That's horrible!" He shrieked out infuriatingly and looked quite restless. "You guys are helping the dead souls to move into a new life, but you won't get to reincarnate again? What kind of God's justice is this?" He snapped angrily.
Yeon chuckled in wonder to see him getting all hyped up for him. "Why do you bother about it?" He walked a bit closer to him and stared at him in awe while conveying his utterances further. "I am already sick enough from living here for such a long period of time. It's a good thing if I get discharged from my duties. And, you are a mortal human, you don't need to worry about me. You are already blessed with a life and an afterlife beyond it--"
"It means once you move back to heaven, I won't get to see you ever again?" All of a sudden, Dae's eyes looked filled with an unknown sadness while looking towards him.
THUMP!
Suddenly, with his absurd direct question, Yeon's heart skipped a beat as he gawked at him intensively. From their frozen gestures, it seemed as if they fancied to communicate through their pitiful gazes.
"Wa-Wait! Why are you two suddenly being so dense?" Suho looked a bit startled with the exposure of the sudden intense situation and tried to divert their attention to calm down the stiffening atmosphere. Yeon immediately turned his eyes away from Dae as his heart was unknowingly throbbing hard with his fixed poignant stare.
"Why my heart feels sad with his awkward question? What kind of interrogation is it?" He lowered his head while contemplating about it.
"So, that means I can take your silence as a yes, isn't it Mr. Yeon?" Dae murmured in a deep voice with a profound stare straight into his dark eyes.
"Hold on, Dae." Suho moved closer to him and tapped his shoulder with an assuring tone. "Reaper 999 isn't discharged from his duties now, it's just God's one of the plans regarding him. You are overthinking--"
DING DONG!
Suddenly, the doorbell sound flinched all three of them and intervened in their conversation.
