Chapitre 31: Something has Changed
Timothy's P.O.V
I adjusted my tux nervously as I stood at the end of the aisle waiting for the love of my life. A moment after the music went off, I stared intently as she approached me in her own pace. It was too slow for me, and I was getting impatient. The closer she came, the slower she got. She stood a step away from the platform, and looked at me. Why did she stop? Did she change her mind? I held my hand towards her, and tried to help her get up here, but surprisingly I could not touch her at all. My hand went right through her as if she was not really there, as if it was a mere hallucination of mine.
"Hey!!" I felt someone shake me softly. Everything that I could see vanished and I was stranded in complete darkness, until I opened my eyes. It was just a dream, but why was I having that particular dream?
"Hey, Gina. You're back!" I gave her a sleepy smile as I looked at her with blurry eyes.
"I am sorry I was late, something came up at the last moment." She pouted.
"It's okay, I get it." I sat up on the bed "Being a head is hard, take it from me who is the owner of a huge enterprise. Every day is a struggle" I sighed.
"Yeah, but I don't regret taking this offer." She smirked. "So, do we still have our reservations? Or are we getting takeouts?" She asked me.
"We have it." I told her as I glanced at the clock.
"I will take a quick shower and get ready. Can you get Momo dressed up? It will save us some time." She urged me.
"Yeah, definitely! Don't worry about it."
She smiled at me and gave me a quick peck, before she headed off to the bathroom.
I changed quickly, and helped Momo get ready as I promised. She looked more timid than usual. I knew she was missing her mother lately, due to so much work she could not focus on her much. She did suffer a terrible accident, so I did not want her to take more than she can handle right now.
I was glad we were having this family dinner together. Maybe all of us can catch up today. It took us almost thirty minutes for Gina to get ready, I had to admit, it was too fast for Gina.
At the restaurant, we were allotted one of the private seats with the best view. The owner of this restaurant and I have once worked together for an occasion which is why I could call in this special favour from him.
"Wow, this place is just too beautiful" Gina remarked.
"Yeah, I chose it for a special occasion before, but we couldn't make it. I am glad you like it."
"What occasion?" She scrunched her eyebrows.
"Nothing important, let's just order first, then we can continue our chat." I smiled at her, hoping she would let it go. It was not her fault that she got into that accident, neither was it her fault that she missed our anniversary. It was a traumatic experience for her, I did not want to be jerk and remind her of that today.
"So, Momo, did you have fun today at the school trip?" I asked her, trying to lit up a conversation.
She nodded at me, but chose to remain silent. She used to be always so enthusiastic, it physically pains me to see her like this.
"Did anything unusual happen?" I asked her, hoping she will talk. But she just looked down and slowly shook her head.
"Why are you bothering her so much?" Gina asked me almost annoyed. "She will talk if she wants to, let the girl have some peace!" She scolded me.
"But I was just-" I tried to explain myself.
"I know you want to chat a lot, but she had a very busy day and she is exhausted. So am I but I am happy to chat with you if you want." She offered.
I shook my head while my smile disappeared from my face, I just wanted to be helpful but I did not realise that I have become overbearing.
The waiter brought us our drinks, but somehow he slipped and the wine fell on Gina's dress.
"Damn it!! Are you blind!!"She screamed at the poor waiter, who trembled in fear.
"I... I am...S..Sorry ma'am" He apologized bowing down his head but she was not having it.
"Excuse me!"She left the table and went towards the washroom. I looked at her and wondered how stressed out was she? She never got this angry before, but after that accident, she had a few outbursts like this.
In fact the first time I met her, I spilled a hot coffee on her, even though she was mad, she did not scream at me like that.
I was brought out of my own thoughts when I heard slight whimpers next to me. Momo was trembling as well, and she looked like she was about to cry. She has never seen her Mum this furious, I could understand why she felt like this.
"Hey there, it's alright okay. Just because mom got angry doesn't mean she will be mad at you."I try to console her as much I could. She looked up at me earnestly as if she was dying to tell me something.
"What is it?" I asked her. She opened her mouth but shut it close. I narrowed my eyes at her. Before I raised another eyebrow of mine.
"It's a secret." She paused. "..between me and mommy"
"You guys have secret?"I smiled, relieved that I was worried for nothing. They were not drifting apart, it just seemed that way.
She came back from the washroom with a really bad stain on the Beige dress she was wearing. "Can we leave? I hate feeling this sticky!!" She sounded so frustrated. It seemed like she will fight with me if I said no.
I just nodded at her and left with her, and got our dinner packed as we were still hungry. I could not believe this day got ruined just like this. I was trying to a better husband, someone patient, but she was being too impossible these days? Did our marriage finally start losing all it's romance? I could feel something has changed between us. She has become so difficult to deal with that sometimes I feel she is not really my Virginia anymore.
