Chapitre 25: 25. Change

Adam was sitting beside me, peeping out of the window. Surrounding was noisy as people were settling in their seats but, there was a void silence around us. Neither of us was talking. He was staring out of the window and I was lost in my thoughts.

Everything was going to change. Jacob was my only friend, I have been always close with him and today he seems distant. For me, he was the only person I thought would remain the same. I don't want to lose him, I don't know what he's thinking of me, does he know whom I love? Ahh! There are a lot of unanswered questions in my perplexed mind. I should have called Jeal too, she doesn't know I am leaving. And Loren. I don't know whether I'll be able to see him again or not but there's one thing for sure I am going to miss him.

CHANGE

Ambling the way as it is already destined,

Finding the path which is pristine.

The joy of today will never last until tomorrow,

One wakes up and begins a new sorrow.

Every rise of the sun makes a change,

Nothing can ever be the same.

Like a dark paper with lots of holes,

Being painted and so fold.

Neither the sky nor the ground,

Wondering about the things all around.

The rise of color is a new Beginning,

Each has its own different meaning.

"Levy." Adam's voice brought me back to reality from my thoughts.

I tilted my head in his direction.

"Ireland is a cold place." His statement was more like a question to which I nodded and handed him a bag with some warm clothes inside it.

"We can put on these clothes when we arrive."

~~~~~~~~~
We arrived after some hours and were welcomed by brother and a girl. He was wearing navy blue jeans with a white V neck T-shirt and a black jacket on it. His chocolate brown hair was slingback, he has the same color eyes as Adam. A sharp nose and a square jaw with some beard on. The moment his gaze fall on us, his lips curved into a smile. Adam ran to hug him while I was pushing the trolley. He lifted Adam into a hug and after putting him down, he smiled at me. I was angry at him but couldn't keep that anger any longer and dashed into his arms. "I missed you."
The next hug was, from the girl who was wearing a cream dress reaching below her knees and brown boots covering her exposed legs with a muffler around her neck. She has brown curly hair with ends reaching her shoulders, hazel eyes with perfectly shaped eyebrows. A duchess nose and lips colored with pink gloss.
"Hello! Nice to meet you, Levy."
"Who are you?" I may sound rude asking her directly, but I don't know her.
She giggled. "You sound just like Admund."
I looked at her with confusion on my face.
"I am Admund's girlfriend." She smiled at me.
"Really?" I looked over her shoulder to see my brother.
"We can have this conversation later," He said and took our luggage.
We followed him to the car. The whole drive to the house was noisy by the conversation between Adam and her. In no time, he mixed up with her and was talking a lot. I was staring out of the window, most of the place was covered by snow except the road, and the weather was freezing cold. I rested my head on the cold door frame while glancing at the passing trees, which looks like growing from the snow instead of the ground. The ground was barely visible in some places. We stopped in front of a double-story house. He lives alone yet a double-story house. She took us inside and we were greeted by an old man where brother went to park the car.
"So, you guys are hungry?" She asked.
"Yes, but I would like to take some rest first. Tired of jet lag."
"Sure, I'll show you your room." She said to both of us and we followed her upstairs.
She was familiar with the place and was informing us which room belongs to whom, where was the kitchen, who was that old man. When we got in, she asked us to share a room for a day the other one needs to be clean first.
"How is this suppose to be clean, but the other?" I asked as the rooms are adjacent.
"I stay here sometimes, so it's always clean." She sat on the bed. "Sufficient?" And asked.
"Comfortable." I smiled at her.
She clapped her hands and stood up. "Ok then take some rest."
Before she could leave, I stooped her to ask her name. Between this conversation, I didn't even ask her name. How idiot I am.
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Ayra Smith." She said while holding the doorknob and left with a wave.
She's a talkative girl and friendlier than me. Adam ran and jumped on the bed.
"I am so tired." He stretched his arms and hugged the pillow.
I went to the bathroom to take a shower, gazing at my reflection in the mirror, I slowly untied my bandage. All the previous thoughts cropped. I am going to live here now. We arrived not even an hour ago and I was already missing everything. That doesn't make sense, I thought and took a long bath which I usually do while thinking. After me, Adam got fresh and slept. Spending an hour on the bed, I was unable to sleep. So, I went downstairs into the kitchen, which was an open kitchen just like ours. Ayra and that old man who's a butler were preparing something.
"Hey." I tapped on her shoulder.
She turned to face me. "Did you sleep?" And asked.
"No, I am fine though," I said and peeked at the counter. "What are you making?"
She showed me everything that they prepared. And one was still on the stove.
"Can I help?" I asked.
"We're done already, you can help tomorrow." She said turning off the stove.
"Where is brother?" I asked.
"He is out for some work." She said while leaving the kitchen and I followed her.
"Does he always work?" I asked. I knew he did, but at least he can take a leave today.
"Don't worry he'll be back soon." She said and we sat on the couch.
"Is your wound fine?" She asked, seeing my wound which I kept open.
"It is," I said, moving my hair aside.
"Ok, tell me about yourself." She asked with excitement.
I just cleared my throat and was thinking of what to say while opening and closing my mouth. She laughed at my action.
"What's so funny?" I asked.
"Levy, can't you tell something about you?" She said in between her guffaws.
"Tell me about yourself, when did you meet brother?" I asked.
"Almost two years back in a boutique, he was buying a dress. He later told me that it was for you as he parcels gifts to you on your birthdays." She said.
"He's doing that for four years. Every year Adam and I will get gifts from him." On mentioning Adam, a bright grin appeared on her face.
"Your brother so cute-"
Before she could continue, I cut her off by asking. "Which one?" In a playful manner. I know she was indicating Adam there.
"Wait, what?"
I chuckled at her expression. "That's not a reply to my question."
"I mean Adam."
"So, you think brother is not cute," I asked.
"No! I didn't mean that."
"It means you think he's cute." I arched my brows.
She blushed and confused at the same time. This time I burst out into laughter.
"Teasing was unexpected from you Levy. I thought you are a quiet girl."
"Ok seriously, is he cute?" I asked and she narrowed her eyes at me.
Before anyone of us could say anything there was a knock on the door, It was brother. She welcomed him with a hug. They came and sat, Ayra beside me and brother exactly in front of us. Butler, whose name I don't know brought a glass of water for him.
"How was your journey?" He asked after drinking water.
"Tiresome," I replied.
He came in front of me and slightly touched my wound. "Is it hurting?"
"No, it's not that deep and now it's fine," I said, raising my head to face him.
"Where were you?" I asked.
"A little work." He said and continued. "Shall we eat? We didn't have breakfast and I am hungry."
"Why? You should have had it." I said to both of them and asked. "What time is it?"
"It's 11 am," Ayra said.
"I'll wake Adam." I went into the room and laid beside him.
Whispering 'wake up' in his ear, I tickled him slowly which I usually do wake him.
"No." He muttered and hid his face under the pillow.
"Brother and Ayra are waiting for us to have breakfast together," I whispered again.
"Tell them to have it."
I pulled the blanket from him and blew a cold breath on his neck.
He aimlessly moved his hands in the air in order to push me away, then lifted the pillow with an angry expression. I hugged him with a smile.
"Let's go."
••••••••••••
Here's the next poem in this chapter. I was trying to explain how things change in a day. A change from a night to a day. I hope I was able to convey it.
