Chapitre 41: Ralphie Pearce XI

Sam entered her hotel room that evening, expecting it empty as she left it. An exasperated sigh escaped her lips when she saw Levi seated in the little table, using her laptop. "Welcome home, dear. You're later than usual." Levi joked hearing her enter. He'd expected her to be back two hours ago, she must've gone somewhere before coming back from the Lab.

"Can't you do this in your room?" Sam asked, throwing her jacket to the nearest chair.

"I can," Levi answers, eyes glued on the screen. Sam sent him an expectant look, and he looked at her and cracked her a grin.

"But I won't," he adds.

After kicking her boots, Sam flopped on the bed too tired to even argue with the Irishman, a lost cause. Levi's phone buzzed on the table, he read the text and turned to her, "Agent Tillman and Sutton are on their way here to celebrate, they'll bring some take-out. How does Chinese sound?"

"Good." was the redhead's muffled response, face pressed on the soft mattress.

Half an hour later, Levi opened Sam's hotel room door after hearing a couple of knocks. Standing there were Agent Tillman and Sutton a bag of Chinese takeout in their hand.

The two entered the room, raising their brows, humored at the redhead's current state. She was lying partially on the bed, face pressed against the soft white sheets. Her bottom half hovering in thin air, unmoving.

Levi grabbed the pillow on the floor and threw it on Sam's head.

"Wake up, it's time to eat." He says, earning a groan and a few muffled curses from the redhead.

The redhead tore her face off the mattress, nursing a pounding headache. Levi snorted amused at her, it only took 3 minutes for her to pass out on the bed even with him in the room messing with her laptop.

"Dr. Gray." The two CIA agents greeted, holding the smile forming on their lips. She reminded them of a child, complaining about getting up early for school.

Sam blinked a few times, still prone on the bed then her body moved by itself the moment the delicious scent hit her olfactory senses.

She looked at the two agents, "Sup?" she said whilst combing her wavy red hair with her fingers. Levi handed her the food and all four of them started to eat dinner conversing over what transpired during the redhead's absence.

"Did he gave you a name?" Sam asked, leaning on the bed frame. Sutton shook his head, holding the chopstick in his right hand and the take-out box in his left. "No, transactions were all done online," he answered.

"How about the encrypted file? I don't see him as clever enough to be able to decrypt it." Sam comments, between bites. She and Levi had figured Pearce's case was not a one-man job.

"They had a Black hat hacker, code name Limbo. We showed Watts some photos and he identified it as Emiel Scholfer, a dutch accountant. Our people are searching for him now, as he hasn't left the country yet." Sutton informs, taking a swig of his canned beer. Boy, it tastes like heaven inside his mouth. It's been awhile.

"How about payment?" Sam asked. Tillman grabbed a can of beer for himself, lifting the can's tab with his index finger while looking at the redhead. "They received payment from an offshore account," he says.

Agent Tillman and Sutton exchanged a look. Levi who was seated next to Sam on the bed smiled, knew what they were going to attempt. The Irishman continued to silently eat, waiting for them to make their move.

"Dr. Gray, can you?" Tillman asked hoping she'd be willing to stay longer to assist them. Hinting on the offshore account that their people are still working on tracking. Chances are it would be unlikely for them to succeed. Tracking money is usually an impossible task, as it is usually turned into a different currency, i.e bitcoins.

"No, I'm tired." Sam deadpanned, and Levi knew it too before she even spoke. Sam washed her throat with water, turning to the two agents. "I finished what I came here for. Good luck with your investigation agents." Sam says, crushing their hopes.

Half an hour later the two agents bid their goodbyes, informing them that they will pick them up for their flight tomorrow.

Levi and Sam stood waiting in the tarmac, the redhead can't wait to get back to normalcy. Using someone else's equipment made her uncomfortable. The same as sleeping in an unfamiliar place made her toss and turn in her sleep.

Levi looked at the redhead, a question that had been bothering him since last night. "How about Wright?" Levi asked.

Sam turned to the blond beside her, holding her hair as the wind blew past them.

"How about him?" she asked, wanting him to be more specific with his question.

"He'll get administrative at best," Levi says, she knew it too. With the Case going, he wasn't involved in anything 'criminal'. Wright could pass off this issue as a lapse, a simple mistake. Nothing deliberate.

"You won't be able to see him get handcuffed," Levi adds, knowing full well it was her goal coming there.

Sam smiled, a smile Levi knew was genuine. Her smile was filled with satisfaction, "It's like you don't know me at all, Mr. Jackson. I'm insulted." Sam teased, tearing her eyes off him to look at the jet slowing down on the tarmac. Levi scanned the redhead, this time paying more attention. Dark bags were still under her eyes, and her stand says, she's sore. Most likely her back and neck from all the tests she'd been doing the past days. But the glint in her green eyes was back, the hidden mischief in them.

"You did something." Levi accused holding his smile, he reckons it has something to do with her coming back late yesterday.

"I haven't. Yet." Sam answered as the jet came to a complete halt and the two climbed up grabbing their seats opposite each other.

She turned to Levi, as she put her seatbelt on, planning on sleeping the whole flight. "Some people claim that the dead don't speak. But they have so much to say. In some cases, they speak quite literally." she says, shutting her eyes close as their pilot started to speak over the speaker.

"Good morning Dr. Gray, Mr. Jackson, this is your Captain speaking. Welcome onboard Flight 7B7 with nonstop from Chicago to London. We are currently second in line for take-off and are expected to be in the air in approximately five minutes' time. The weather ahead is good and, therefore, we should have a smooth and uneventful flight. Now sit back and relax."
