Chapitre 9: Noises
"Of course I will!" You exclaim excitedly. This puts a humongous smile on his face, and he literally hops into the air a few times in joy. This also makes you happy, and you give him a big hug which he gladly returns. Then, he says "Oh, well I guess you should probably get back to your apartment so we can get to work soon". You check your phone, and it's 2:30. Work starts at 3. "Yeah, I'll go get ready now. Mind if I come back over before we go?". He smiles and says "Sure, go ahead". You walk out of his apartment, just to see that Olivia was still standing outside her apartment. She gives you a dirty look as you open your door. Getting ready for work takes you about 15 minutes, so by the time you get back into Doppio's apartment he is pretty much ready to go. You sit on the couch and wait for him, then he grabs your hand and you both start walking to the Arancia Café.
Work is pretty uneventful, which honestly makes it worse since it seems so much slower. There were only 6 or 7 people that actually came in, so you and Doppio just shared lunch there. Your shifts both lasted until 6, so you were walking home by 6:10. The evening air was cool, and it felt nice to be walking home with Doppio in. Once you guys got home, Doppio said "Hey, is it ok if I come over to your place for a while?". You smile and respond "Sure, we should probably get changed first though". He nods his head in agreement and heads off to his own apartment. You get dressed, and he is back over within 5 minutes. "What do you want me to make for dinner?" You ask him. He thinks for a second, and says "Tacos?". "Yes! I love tacos". You head over to the kitchen and start making tacos. It takes you about 20 mins, and after the 5th time of Doppio asking if he can do anything to help they're ready. You two eat your tacos together, and talk about things like the weather, or what you want to do tomorrow. "Do you have a restaurant in mind for tomorrow?" You ask him. He responds with "Yep! But it's a surprise". You roll your eyes jokingly and take both of your plates to the sink. You both hang out until 8, and then he decides he better head back to his apartment. "Goodnight, love you!" You say to him. Love you, you think. It feels weird saying that, but also right. He says "Goodnight, love you too!" And it fills you with happiness.
Even though it's only 8, your already getting tired so you go into your room and take a shower before getting dressed into your PJs. You turn off your light, and crawl into bed. Sleep comes easily, but at some point you wake up in the middle of the night. It almost sounded like your front door had opened, but who would be going in? Plus, your pretty sure that you locked it, although not 100%. Just to make sure, you walk out into your living room. Sure enough, through the darkness, you could see the light from the corridor peeking through your slightly opened door. Then, your hear something crash in your kitchen. Slightly afraid, you walk over to see a pan laying on the ground. You search around, but can't find anyone, or anything, that could have done this. I'm probably just paranoid, you think to yourself. You head back to your bedroom, and decide you'll tell Doppio about what happened in the morning.
You get through the rest of the night without any more disturbances, so you get up and get dressed. You walk into your kitchen, and look around to see what might have happened last night. You check your cupboards and your fridge and everything, the only thing that seems out of place is the stuff in one of your cabinets seems out of place. I'm probably just imagining it, I need to calm down. But as you walk back into your living room, you notice something else weird. It seems there is an attic or some sort of door in your ceiling. It makes sense, more storage space, but you never noticed it before. At this point you call Doppio and ask if you can come over, to which he says yes. You walk over, and the first thing you do is walk into his living room to see if he also has an attic, which he does. He looks at you and says "Is everything ok? You look a little off". "Yeah, it's just some weird things happened in my apartment last night. I'm pretty sure I'm just being paranoid though". He looks at you with concern and says "Weird things? What kind of weird things?". "Well at first I woke up to a noise that sounded like my front door opening, and when I went to check it was open a little. Then, I heard something fall in my kitchen, so when I looked there was a pan on my floor. Nothing seemed out of place this morning except a few things in my cupboard I must not remember moving. Off topic, but I also only just now realized I had an attic.." He makes a weird face, and responds "Well it isn't really being paranoid if there are actually things happening. Do you want to head over there and see what we can find?". You appreciate his offer, and agree. He follows you over, takes one step into your living room, and says "Uh Y/N? Did you leave your attic open?"
