Jarvis leaned against a tree, pondering the words Akiol gave him.
It was true, pointless battles were incredibly risky for him. The death of even one of his tames would be incredibly upsetting and painful.
Yet he didn't want to become deadweight…
'Something on your mind?'
Jarvis made a face, "You guys can just exit as you please these days huh?"
Extreok snorted, 'As if it can contain me, however that is not important. Tell me your worries."
Extreok sat and stared into Jarvis, their unfathomably deep eyes seemingly stared into his soul.
Jarvis sat, "I'm worried, this competition… It's dangerous for you guys. I don't want you all to fight battles that can pose a risk to your lives. Especially battles that are pointless."
'Have you asked us how we felt?'
Jarvis hesitated before answering, "Well… no. But-"
'You are our master, no matter how equal you try to have our relationship it is undeniable that you are in charge. Every single one of us desire to protect you, even if we do not show it. Regardless how superficial the damage may seem, it pains us to see you suffer.'
Extreok moved closer, her snout almost touching Jarvis' nose, 'Let us fight, do not assume us as weak. We do not need protection. You need protection, so allow us to do that. Do not harm our pride.'
Jarvis nodded solemnly, "Alright…"
Extreok touched Jarvis' forehead with her snout and teased, 'Having said that don't use us irresponsibly.'
Jarvis frowned, "Oh come on! I would never!"
Guarton appeared behind the tree, 'You can get a little emotional sometimes…'
"I'm not always like that!"
Neorvil ruffled her feathers, "Maybe not always, but quite often."
"No!"
Whitelash placed his large paw on Jarvis' chest, 'We trust you, so trust us alright?'
Jarvis nodded, "I will… thank you."
Guarton whipped his tail, 'If you really want to thank us give us that delicious food.'
Jarvis looked at Guarton with an amused expression, "You all didn't come out in hopes of eating… right?"
They avoided eye contact with Jarvis, both denying and admitting his claim. Jarvis shook his head and pulled out a cube.
As he grew various plants he experimented with combining a few of the especially rarer ingredients. One of his creations was a gelatinous cube of a deep red color. Upon tasting all of his tames immediately fell in love with it.
However it was quite difficult to make, the ingredients harder to obtain. So Jarvis saved it for special occasions.
This was one of such occasions.
He handed one each to the Sages, and watched as they ate it in pure bliss. It was amusing to watch the powerful Sages succumb to a tasty treat.
Whitelash casually mentioned, 'If you want to grow even stronger, why not visit the Guardian of the Night?'
Jarvis raised an eyebrow, "Guardian of the Night?"
'If the Phoenix is like the sun, then the Guardian is the one of the moon. They hold powers equal to that of a Phoenix. Though meeting one… is an incredibly rare occurrence."
"So I have to meet it by chance?"
"Most likely."
Jarvis sighed, it seemed like meeting this wonderful creature would have to happen some other day.
Jarvis looked at the time and waved a hand, "All right, the next match is soon."
The Sages understood and returned back to the Book of Life obediently. Jarvis breathed in the fresh air, "Tilia's next right?"

"Lucidus Lumen… a pleasure to have you aboard."
Travis was in a white space, in the middle of it was a figure dressed in a white and gold assassin outfit.
The figure turned, "You're here… call me Lumen."
Lumen inspected Travis and crossed her arms, "So you're the one who he wanted to shatter what we believe is reality? I haven't seen him so emotional!"
Travis asked, "Who?"
"You know him, though I won't say."
Travis spent a mediocre amount of effort before deciding that the answer wasn't meant to be discovered. Instead Travis smiled and held out a hand, "Apologies for the wait, I'm Travis."
Lumen shook his hand, "I heard… so now that I'm here, what's your goal?"
"How much do you know?"
"The general idea."
Travis explained his circumstances and his plan to move forward. Lumen nodded along before commenting, "The idea is not bad, however why must you use such violent methods?"
Travis shook his head, "Partially for revenge, but mostly because they won't listen to someone they believe is under them. Power changes a person, me included. Once they realize I cannot be messed with, more peaceful methods can be used."
Lumen pondered it before shrugging, "It's not like I have a choice anyway. I'll be in your care."
"I as well."
Just as Travis was about to leave Lumen called out, "Don't forget to repair us, it would be a shame to leave us like this."
"I already planned on it."
"Good."

"Intriguing… to think a mere mortal is capable of this much."
"At this rate his Prominence will grow exponentially."
"Haha! I'll wager a bet, this rookie vs someone I placed my blessing on. Who do you think will win?"
"As if someone will take that bet, you don't know if they will even fight."
"I have faith… but keep this in mind. I'll wager something quite valuable if it ever happens."
"More importantly… Borus, how do you feel?"
They turned silent, waiting for the usually quite one to respond.
He opened his mouth, "It wasn't as if I designed them to never work together… they simply never wanted to. I wonder who he is to convince them to do this…"
"Heh, so it wasn't out of your expectations? As expected of the forging god~ You truly know your own works better than anyone else."
"That's not true."
They were stunned, no one expected such words to form.
Borus noticed the atmosphere and explained, "They are my greatest masterpieces. The Twelve Swords, The Six Spears, The Eight Daggers, The Four Shields, The Five Greatswords, The Nine Axes… and The Sixteen Pieces. Every one of them… have their own ego, as the passage of time continues… they may grow beyond my predictions."
One God narrowed their eyes, "Could they pose a threat?"
A different God mocked, "Fearful of a weapon? That isn't like you!"
Borus spoke again, "The weapons are tools to a wielder, it is a common misconception that the weapons are what should be feared. Instead it's the wielder."
Borus looked the God in their eyes, "If you fear being killed by my creations… Your fear shouldn't stem from them, rather the person you angered to the point of wanting to kill you."
"Tch."
"Then, Borus, if they proceed to grow… What about your Pinnacle masterpieces? Will they grow beyond perfection?"
"When I created the Perfect Sword, it wasn't just because there was zero flaws. It was because it has no limit, potential beyond that of an other of my creations… Well, there was a few that rivaled in potential, if only I hadn't…"
Borus' look turned solemn and he stopped speaking. The God's didn't pry for answers, it was the most he spoke in a long time.
One God broke the silence, "Nirvana… he will be visiting your realm soon. Will you reject his inevitable request?"
"It depends, what about you? He will be hunting the High Class Demons in your territory soon."
"Pah, if they cannot kill him then they are meant to die."
"How ruthless."
Borus murmured, "An Aboviol soul…"
The Gods turned their attention to him again. He thought aloud, "What would be the opposite of an Aboviol Soul?"
One God cloaked in dark energy spoke, "An Aboviol is a power being capable of running its own minor dimension. Despite it being part of the Abyss, it is out of my control. However the opposite of it? Do you mean something of the same power..?"
Realization struck across the Gods. One slammed their hand onto the large circular table they were seated around, "You don't possibly mean?!"
"What can boost Lucidus Lumen? To the equivalent of an Aboviol Soul?"
They turned their attention to Nirvana. She sighed and answered, "An Archangel. More precisely, an Archangel's Soul."
Borus asked, "Are you prepared?"
"You can't possibly mean-"
"He will, it may not be anytime soon. But I trust that he is aware, he will hunt one of your Archangels. My question is, are you prepared?"
"My Archangels are not some run-of-the-mill Angels. They can equally battle an Aboviol…"
She seemed to realize, "He… he's going to kill one of them."
"Haha! So Nirvana… want to team up?"
The God cloaked in dark energy spoke, "It is against your 'Holy Codex' to kill someone unprovoked. Despite you coming to this realization, do you think he did?"
The one proposing an alliance sneered, "Stop protecting your little Royal, he's merely a Baron."
"You fail to understand after all."
"You wanna go?!"
"Enough! Act like individuals of your status!"
Quolith grinned, "So there's two chess pieces on the board… This is only getting more interesting."
