Chapitre 103: A Guild’s Overconfidence

Eight separate beams of red light spread from Zealous' hand. The beams wiggled like snakes as they moved towards Akiol and Wrock. The two weaved through the dangerous attacks, making sure not to get hit.
Akiol frowned, "It's quite a powerful sorcerer."
"A sorcerer with high stats, my first attack did a lot of damage but he seems fine." Wrock added.
"Then let's get closer."
Akiol used [Dimension Skip], appearing behind Zealous. Elbowing him in the back to force stop his actions. Akiol followed with a sword slash across their back.
Zealous growled with hate, "You're interfering-!"
Wrock caught up now the attacks stopped. His foot firmly implanted into the abdomen of Zealous. They doubled over from the pain, Wrock then gave a swift kick to their face. Akiol followed lead and tripped Zealous over with a sweep kick. Before Zealous could fall to the ground Wrock moved to their side and kneed their back with [Monstrous Strength].
Zealous was lifted into the air. Akiol used [Leap] to rise above Zealous. Spinning to gain momentum he struck down with his sword. Sending Zealous tumbling back towards the ground. Wrock was still there and received Zealous with a punch to their face, [Monstrous Strength] running out of time the moment after the punch.
Zealous crashed into a stand, unmoving. The guild leaders, who were giving orders frantically to fight Infinity Base, stopped momentarily to watch the battle.
"Their teamwork is something to appreciate at the least."
"Quake, do you think we could have pulled off the same thing?"
"Not quite the same, perhaps something different though."
Akiol and Wrock stared at the spot Zealous crash landed. Akiol was confused by the lack of movement, "Did you kill him?"
"No."
Akiol walked over cautiously. As soon as he got near a bright red glow appeared. Zealous shot out of the hole, covered in the red light.
One of the guild leaders shouted, "Not good! Get behind cover!"
Zealous exploded into thin red beams. The beams pierced into the nearby players, killing most. Akiol used [Dimension Dive] escaping the attack, Wrock wasn't as lucky. The beams moved much faster than the previous attacks. Several pierced Wrock, his HP dropped to a dangerously low number.
The skill ended and Akiol reappeared next to Zealous. He swung his sword only to be stopped by a red barrier. The barrier pulsed and sent Akiol flying back.
Zealous cracked his neck, "Did you really think that was all I had? You're severely overestimating yourself. Behold! My newly acquired Berserk Skill! With this power I can afford to go all out."
Zealous aimed his hand at the weakened Wrock, a rune appeared floating at his palm. A much more powerful and bigger red beam shot out. The speed nearly as fast as the smaller ones.
Bzzzzt! Boom-!
Wrock unleashed [Thundering Impact] the shockwave clashing with the beam. It slowed it down, but failed to stop it. Gritting his teeth Wrock used [Mastered Basic Punch] adding another shockwave to the mix. This slowed the beam enough for Wrock to avoid it.
Akiol climbed out of the rubble around him. The strange attack Zealous did had damaged his core slightly. Causing him to lose health. He saw the beam crash into the ground, scorching it badly.
Once the beam cleared he saw Wrock standing, heavily injured. Their eyes met, and a silent agreement was traded. Wrock began to glow a light blue. Akiol began to glow a pale yellow.
They too have used their Berserk Skills.
Was it necessary? Maybe not, however as the party members continued to play A World's Legacy they began to fully understand the strange way the game operates. Skill was a crucial part, however the same skill could be considered worthless in front of a special game skill. Or just complete power. Could Akiol and Wrock defeat Zealous without the Berserk Skills? Probably. But one thing was for certain, the stat gap Zealous made had disappeared.
The two moved at a pace that none of the spectators could see. Zealous erected a barrier to protect himself, only to see it smashed seconds later.
Akiol currently only increased his speed, but using [Dimension Pierce] he easily shattered the barrier. Within seconds numerous cuts appeared on Zealous body. Akiol's own buffs and debuff effects began to take place. Wrock followed quickly, as soon as Akiol finished his set of attacks Wrock appeared above Zealous and unleashed a series of kicks. The kicks were fast and triggered the effect on his gauntlets. Disease began to spread across Zealous' body.
Zealous attempted to use another barrier, but was stopped short by Wrock. Using [Hawk's Descent] coupled with [Monstrous Strength] his foot slammed into Zealous' face. With the ability of [Hawk's Descent] it stayed that way until they crashed into the ground.
Wrock did a flip to retreat from Zealous, in case he pulled another explosion. Akiol walked up and pointed his sword at their neck, "You've lost Zealous."
"Lost?! You had no reason to interfere! You've made yourselves a permanent enemy of Infinity Base!" Zealous spat.
Akiol pushed his blade closer to their neck, "Permanent enemy I shall be then, but you shall remain as the loser."
"That's where your wrong. . ." Zealous gripped Akiol's foot, "I am taking you all down with me!"
He began to glow a brighter red. Light began to pierce his skin. Akiol scowled, "A self destruct! You idiot!"
The guild members and leaders kept to action. Surrounding Akiol and Zealous with barriers from various classes. Zealous exploded into a blast of red light. Easily shattering most of the shields and not stopping.
Just as only two barriers remained a large prism encased the barriers fully transparent except the edges, which were a bright purple. The guild leaders looked at Clarity, the Vice-leader of Backbone. Their pupils held the shape of two purple triangles, their top point tilted 90 degrees to face each other. She held out a hand, a smaller prism at her palm similar to the giant one.
The explosion broke through the other two barriers and smashed into the prism. It began to shake and the transparent parts began to crack. Clarity grit her teeth and closed her palm. The prism gave a brilliant light as it turned into a myriad of colors. The cracks mended and the barrier stayed strong.
The Guild leaders knew what this was. It was a large cooldown skill, one that provided a near impenetrable defense. The cooldown was so large that Clarity would be unable to use the skill for the next month or two. The rest made a silent vow to compensate her, she had saved their members.
The explosion eventually died out, the prism was removed and everyone looked at the source.
There stood Akiol, seemingly unharmed. The Guild leaders' eyes widened, it was inconceivable!
So how had Akiol survived? Well it wasn't easy. As soon as he realized he had been encased by the barriers he switched his [Aura Boost] to defense, something he hadn't done before. When the explosion started Akiol used [Reflective Metal] to redirected some of the blast. Since his [Dimension Skip] and [Dimension Dive] were on cooldown he lacked the ability to save himself.
When the explosion hit him his health began to drop fast. Once he neared death his scarf came into play, giving him temporary invincibility. Akiol hoped this would be enough, but as the shield began to dim he realized he wouldn't have enough time. So he struggled forward and ended the life of the still exploding Zealous, who was missing their limbs.
This stopped the constant explosion and Akiol's life was saved, how he looked unharmed? That was because he was a slime, his burnt body was automatically absorbed and turned into fresh slime. Meaning his outer appearance remained unfazed.
Akiol sighed from relief, he was truly worried for a second! He took a look at his surroundings and saw Wrock, who wasn't trapped in the blast. Akiol, who's HP was at 1 right now, walked over to the Guild leaders and asked, "Was anyone harmed?"
"Not from the blast." Someone managed to answer, still recovering from the shock.
Wrock walked over, "Well I suppose our job is done. Good luck to the rest of you." Wrock knew the state Akiol was in due to them being in a party. The two pulled out teleport scrolls to flee from the scene when a particular guild leader spoke up.
"Wait, you were invited to this event. You had to deal with this sudden change. Yet you still defeated Zealous and saved some of our people. It wouldn't go right for me to let you leave without being compensated. So. . . take this. Let it be known that Raven Thread thanks you." It was Seven Vows, the leader of Raven Thread.
A pink lotus was handed to Akiol. He accepted it and thanked them. After saying goodbyes they left. As soon as they were gone and inside a room in the inn Akiol melted into a puddle, "It took a lot out of me to maintain shape." he complained, forming a mouth in the puddle.
Wrock tossed a potion over, it shattered and released a green mist. It was a healing potion and it gradually replenished Akiol's HP. Wrock sat in a chair, "So what was that thing they gave you?"
Akiol reformed himself and sat up straight. He pulled out the lotus and inspected it.
