Ian went towards the doors to the side that led into wide rooms with a variety of magical beasts in enclosures. He found a single student moving across the enclosures with a bucket that seemed to hold food. The student looked up as he entered and stared him up and down before coldly asking.
"Can I help you?"
"Ah yes, I was told to come in to find Greg for the butcher job."
He replied with a calm smile, ignoring the cold reception. Many magicians had their own quirky personality, and one shouldn't take things personally when talking to them. The student he assumed to be Greg moved next to a cage that had a colorful bird as he threw more meat to it and then replied.
"You have to at least be proficient in the [Transparent Hand] spell before you can take a job as a butcher. If you can proficiently cast that spell, come back here again any day between 4 and 5 pm."
Ian nodded as it looked like it wouldn't be too easy to get the job that would easily allow him to kill.
'Well, nothing worth in life comes easy.'
He thanked Greg and moved out of the beast enclosure, giving his thanks to the Witch at the front too as he went out of the Beastiary.
'Guess I can plan for and look at my classes that start tomorrow before calling it a night.'
He had a schedule already selected for him that he would have to follow for the rest of his freshman year. He moved across the vibrant campus as he watched students perform magic with ease all around him, making him all the more pumped to start it himself soon.
He went back to the freshmen dorms and locked the door behind him, getting back into his room and pulling out his computer. He wanted to look at his schedule that he briefly glanced over for tomorrow so that he should know what to expect. It was the schedule prepared for every incoming freshman, and had interesting classes to look forward to.
Elements 111 (ELS 111)
Introduction to Botany (BOT 121)
Calculus with Analytical Geometry 221 (MATH 221)
There were two classes he was definitely interested in, with one that made him shake his head in frustration.
'It looks like I can't escape math even if I attend a magical academy.'
The classes were set and would begin tomorrow, all that was left was for him to learn. He went over everything he saw today as he looked forward to tomorrow, and slept in the dorm of the Imperial Institute of Technology and Magic for the first time.

Maneuvering through the central building of the campus that was the large castle wasn't too hard as the departments were clearly separated. He was able to find his first class, Elements 111, fairly easily. It was a bustle of students that filled the room he entered, as he found some that knew other and had already grouped up, while a few were sitting quietly waiting for the first class of their magical career to begin.
Ian went forward and found a seat near the front. He nodded to the student sitting beside him as he laid out his books.
DING
He was just in time as a few minutes after he sat down, the teacher came in as a loud sound rang throughout the room.
"Alright, everyone be seated as we get started. I will be your instructor for the coming year, teaching you all you need to know about the elements until you become proficient in it. You can call me Professor Rae."
The teacher was a gorgeous looking Witch dressed fully in red, a witch's hat prominent on her head to complete the picture. She snapped her fingers and a laptop floated from her bag, a few wires that were lying on the front table connecting to the laptop as a screen was projected onto the wall behind her. In bold font, there lay the words- Elements 111
"Now to start us off, can a brave student tell us what exactly is magic?"
There was a few seconds of silence in the class as a confident voice rang out from the front row.
"Magic is the unseen energy all around us, capable of only being used by those with the talent for it."
The student that answered was a confident girl dressed in the common uniform for all first years, the only thing distinct being the head full of blue hair flowing down to her shoulders.
"That is somewhat correct, Miss...Ariel Goldstone is it? Alright, who else has a better answer?"
Professor Rae nodded while disregarding the wronged face of Ariel, looking for a better answer. None of the freshmen quipped up after this as this was the basic knowledge they also knew.
"Nobody?"
The hazel eyes of Professor Rae looked around the class of fledgling magicians as she looked for an answer, her eyes landing on Ian after going across the room.
He smiled when he saw her eyes landing on him as he gave a shot on what he thought.
"Magic is life force. Our job as magicians is to find different ways to manipulate this life force all around us."
DING
A sound rang out in the class again as Professor Rae clapped.
"Yes, it is the force of life all around us, and it is going to be your job to learn how to make it do your bidding. First and foremost, I will be teaching you how to call in magic and increase the lifeforce in your own bodies. Mr...Ian Ambrose huh? Can you impress me again by telling me what spell we will be learning first today?"
The witch dressed all in red raised her eyebrows as she read Ian's name, her attention turning to him yet again. Ian took on the challenge as he calmly replied.
"The spell that allows you to bolster the lifeforce in your own body should be [Elementary Strengthening]."
Professor Rae nodded her head again as she clapped. The first girl that answered, Ariel, was giving a cold look towards Ian as others also turned their attention to him.
"Alright, now its time for a live demonstration. You...yes, you there hiding behind your glasses, you'll be the first volunteer for our class."
A student in the back of the room with dark hair and wide glasses was picked out to demonstrate in front of the class the first spell they would be learning, [Elementary Strengthening].
