Chapitre 116: Chapter 115 Forging part 1

As usual, I woke up to see such heavenly scenery. I put clothes on and went to the living room while dragging my blanket. Kiko and Eri were already in the living room, and Eri was sleeping on Kiko, who was curled up. Kiko noticed me and straighten her body, so I could sleep on her. I smiled sleepily and slept on Kiko, Kiko then curled up again. I was in my 9 years old appearance as well.

One by one, the girls woke up and went to the living room. The usual sleeping beauties snuck into my blanket and slept again, meanwhile, the others chatted. Utaha didn't wake me up, but I was woken up by being squished to huge boobs. I pushed the huge badonkers and looked up, I gasped for air.

"Morning, Yanagi," I said. Yes, it was Yanagi.

"Hehehe, morning, Alex, the food's ready." She said. She let go of me and I walked over to the big tea table. It was noodle soup, I picked up the spoon and scooped the soup. I sipped the soup and exhaled in comfort.

"Eri, wake up," Yanagi said as she shook Eri to get up.

"Okay, Yanagi-neesan~," She mumbled as she rubbed her eyes while yawning. She stood up and wobbly walked over to the tea-table. She sat beside me and started to eat her noodle soup. Kiko also got to eat piles of steaks, her food was OEBD's meat since it was the strongest being, so it was delicious. Utaha served foods for the girls, and so, the girls started eating as well.

After we finished our food, I took Hatsume with me to forge Jiro's sword. Jiro wanted her sword to be the same as my katana, so I took out my katana and measured it. But the fact that my katana couldn't be compared to the one Jiro gave to Momo, meant that I needed my katana to be changed.

But I don't want to change my katana, as it had been with me for a long time. So I decided to change the blade of the katana or Nagasa.

"Utaha, can you make a forge in our house?" I asked.

"Of course, I can," She made a forge at the backyard of our house. I thanked her and went to the forge. The forge was like a stone hut with a chimney, but it was a big hut. I opened the wooden door and turned the light on, there were racks of tools hanged on the wall, an anvil, a sledgehammer, and many more.

I changed my clothes to a white shirt, bright gray long pants, and a leather apron. I'm using bright clothes, so the heat won't get trapped inside the clothes. I took out a small towel and drenched it, then I wrung the towel. I laid the drenched towel over my head and tied the towel over my head.

"Right, let's start," I took out a huge bone from the inventory, it was 2 meters long and 1 meter wide. I took out my katana and cut the bone vertically into half. The bone was perfectly cut in half, each had 2 meters long and 0.5 meters wide. I cut the bone again until it was 75 cm long, 4 cm wide, and 4 cm thick. I wanted to try to make the bone to become a blade, which will be coated with Mythril, and Mythril forged into a blade.

But first, I will be making the bone blade. I took out a pencil and started drawing the outline for the blade. After I was done drawing the outline, I took the bone to the belt grinder. I turned the machine and started grinding the bone. It took a very long time, so I used Water Magic and made a jet water to cut the bone.

Then I ground the bone, so the edges formed. Then I cleaned the bone and took a closer look, it looked like wooden katana with blunt edges. I took the bone to a table and put it there. I took out a bar of Mythril and a melting pot. I put the bar of the Mythril into the melting pot and brought it to the furnace.

The furnace was connected into a chimney, it was a big furnace so the pot could be put in there. I used my Fire Magic and lighted up the furnace. I put the pot in the furnace, the pot has a higher melting point than the Mythril, so I don't need to worry about that. In fact, the tools here had higher melting points than any ores out there.

I took out another bar of Mythril and put it on the anvil. I took a tong, which was long enough to hold the Mythril from outside the furnace, and a hammer. I walked back to the anvil and put the hammer and down, I used the tong to hold the Mythril bar and went to the furnace.

I started controlling the fire and put the Mythril that I was holding with a tong in to the furnace. The anvil was just right beside the furnace, and the anvil was short, it was 15 cm or 20 cm above the ground. I could sit at a small chair or just plank would do the thing while forging. Beside the anvil was a small section of the ground that was made to contain water.

The furnace was extremely hot, I could feel the heat, and I was already starting to sweat. After a while, I pulled the tong out of the furnace, the Mythril bar was so hot, it was red colored and had embers flying from the bar. I sat down at the small chair behind the anvil, and grabbed the hammer. I started hammering the bar couple times and when the bar started to cool down, I put back the bar to the furnace.

I repeated this several times until the bar became flat. The purpose was to make the impurities to raise into the surfoce and be hammered out. When it was flat like a cracker, I started to sprinkle the bottom of the Mythril ore using the hammer while hammering it as well. Again, I repeated the cycle several times then I submerged the Mythril to the water. Because of the constant hammering and steam, the surface peeled off and the impurities disappear.

Might be asking, is the Mythril bar have impurities? I don't know, I just want to forge a katana the way the traditional way is, even though the material is different. At this part, the ore was supposed to be hammered down to pieces to search for the most suitable ores, which was the ones that had higher carbon content, to be forged first. But I didn't, as either way, Mythril is one of the strongest metal on the 'Soul World'.

Then I took out a Mythril rod from the inventory, I put the tip of the rod in the middle of the furnace as well as the Mythril ore that had cooled down. Then I took out both of the rod and the Mythril ore out of the furnace, both of them were red-hot with ember flying out from it. I put the Mythril ore on the anvil and put the tip of the rod on top of the ore.

I started hammering it and put it back to the furnace when it was cooling down. Repeated couple times until it became one. I brought the rod to a bucket of clay slurry and poured the water of the clay slurry unto the ore. I let the rod cooled down, as it was cooling down, I took off the towel over my head and dumped it on the water. Then I wore it again.

At this point, I was supposed to stack the 'best' ores and covered it with drenched japan paper. Then put the stack of ores to the top of the ore and put it on the furnace. Until it was at the point right before boiling, I was supposed to take the rod out and slowly hammered it down so it would merge together. When it was cooling down, I was supposed to have it rolled in somekind of wheat then put it back to the furnace. Then I needed to hammer it down until it became one.

But, again, I didn't, I skipped this part and went to make the ore more compact. When the ore attached to the rod was cold, I put the ore back to the furnace. After a while, I took out the red-hot ore and started hammering it again. I put the red-hot ore to the side to the anvil and started hammering the upper section of the ore, which would made a 90 degree red-hot ore. After it became 90 degree, I hammered it down to became one again.

I repeated the cycle many times, the purpose was to make the metal or the Mythril more compact. Then I separated the rod and the ore block by cutting the rear of the ore block. I put both of the rod and the ore back to the furnace. I took out the ore and made the block to become curved by its lengthwise, the curved block will become the 'jacket'.

Then I took out the rod and put the rod on the 'jacket'. While both were still red-hot, I hammered the rod to the 'jacket' to become one again.

The rod was supposed to have the put-away ores, which were the soft ones or the ones that had lower carbon content, to be forged into a shape of a tube connected into a rod. The soft ores were placed inside the curved block or the jacket because it will absorb of the attacking stroke.

(AN: I really don't want to explain the chemical reaction, as it would make the chapter from for entertainment to learning chemical again. And I'm sorry if I had written the steps to forge a katana wrongly, as I don't have any experience in the smiting. Again, I'm sorry, but I really tried to 'describe' the scene of forging a katana and the explanation as well.)
