When Anna was engaged with Mr. Reinhart in the past, she became the talk and envy of the upper circles. 

Reinhart had a couple of girlfriends before. However, none of them were treated like Anna. They saw with their own eyes that Mr. Reinhart, the man who only had his attention for work, picked up Anna or drove her to the parties she wanted to attend. He would even send her flowers and gifts in front of everyone.

Thus, many young ladies were very envious of Anna in her engagement with the top bachelor of the upper society. 

One of the young ladies back then who was envious of her was Mrs. Gu. 

Mrs. Gu's maiden family was wealthier than the Vibora family. Yet, Anna still got engaged with Reinhart Tan despite Mrs. Gu's sincere feelings for him.

So whenever Anna flaunted Reinhart's affection for her in public, Mrs. Gu had always slandered her, saying that the gifts she received were all Anna's own arrangements, not Mr. Reinhart's at all.
