(Dinner at Air bending temple)
"Hey, Gon. I didn't think you would make it," Pema said.
"Why is that?" Gon wondered.
"You rarely ever come to our dinners," Pema stated while serving the food onto the table.
"Do I?" Gon queried.
As soon as he said those words, everyone on the table looked at him.
"You do," Korra shouted, "I do not think that I have ever seen you here actually."
After Korra said those words, the door opened. Everybody looked to see who it was. They were not expecting guests. Tenzin did have a guess, though.
(Flashback of Earlier Today at city hall)
The council members were a group founded by Aang meant to encompass all tribes. Five people from five different tribes lead it.
It had been a while since the council members had seen each other. They were all busy with their matters, Tenzin taking care of the Avatar and others like Tarlok doing things in secret.
"Have you seen the news," Th fire bender councilwoman screeched frantically, "Amon took a man's bending. He is dangerous."
"It is not only that, he is rousing up the non-benders," Another council person said, "One non-bender is a danger to us but united they are we have got to stop this."
Councilman Tarlok walked in and got the attention of the group.
"Why are you late, Tarlok,? Tenzin snarled.
"Oh, I was doing something important," Tarlok replied.
"More important than the crisis at hand?" Tenzin questioned, "More important than Amon?"
Tarlok smiled, hearing this, "It is for Amon. I am planning on making a task force of benders to push back Amon."
Tenzin did not like the idea. Non-benders were already angry at the council for not doing much to protect them. If they did do that too, then he was not sure what would happen. His thoughts did not help him, either.
Tenzin knew that it was because of Gon that there were not thousands of non-benders under Amon. What Tarlock was doing would potentially give Amon more fuel to help ignite a revolt of sorts.
Tarlock was not an ethical man. He had done some bad things saying they were all okay because it was for the greater good as Tenzin liked to call his crap. Tarlock would make more and more non-benders suffer.
"No! It would be best if you didn't do it," Tenzin spoke, "I am against this."
Tarlock smiled and said, "Let us put it to a vote. Raise your hands if you want the task force."
Everyone except Tenzin raised their hands.
Tenzin sighed and looked at Tarlock, "I hope you know what you are doing."
(Flashback End)
Tarlock entered the room.
"What are you doing here?" Tenzin asked.
"Oh, nothing," Tarlock smirked.
"Well, if you are doing nothing, then leave," Tenzin orated.
"I thought air benders were hospitable people," Tarlock smiled.
"OkayOkay, you can stay," Tenzin muttered.
Pema looked at Tenzin in anger. She had heard about Tarlock from her husband and did not like him a lot.
Tenzin just shrugged, not knowing what else to do.
Tarlock walked in and sat with the Avatar.
"Beautiful, powerful, strong, the Avatar in all its glory," Tarlock complimented.
Tenzin seeing what was happening, said, "Cut the crap. What do you want."
"I would like for the Avatar to join my Anti-Amon taskforce," Tarlock stated as if things got set in stone.
"I am sorry but, no," Korra answered, surprising everyone in the room except Gon.
Gon knew her well and had seen the fear in her eyes when the name Amon got uttered. It was as if a spell had gotten cast on her. Of course, Gon expected it. Who would not be afraid if you saw a man lose himself some days ago? Korra was worried that she would lose her powers if she confronted Amon.
On the other hand, Gon was not afraid. What he was scared of was losing those he cared about like Korra to an extremist group known as the Equalists.
"Now that you have gotten your answer, you may leave," Tenzin smirked, happy that Tarlock was losing.
"I won't give up," Tarlock said, smiling as he left.
(Later that day)
A man came through the gates carrying gifts.
Once Korra spotted the man, she sighed in frustration. After rejecting Tarlock, the man started to send her gifts, trying to curry her favor, but she denied it each time.
"For the last time, go away," Korra shouted.
The man whimpered but dropped the letter off with Korra.
"It is an invitation to a gala that Tarlock made for you," The man said, "You can decide whether you wanna come."
The man rushed out the gates after saying his piece.
"It is a trap, you know," Gon said while sneaking up behind Korra.
Korra jumped.
"I know, but I still have to go, reporters will be there and if I do not come it will be on the news," Korra replied, "I can see it now, Rude avatar does not come to her party."
"You know that it is okay to be afraid of Amon," Gon said, "What he did was wrong and frightening."
Korra looked at Gon, angry, "I am not scared. You are the scared one."
"OkayOkay, okay, okay, whatever helps you sleep at night."
"Now let us get ready," Gon said, "The party will be starting soon."
(After everyone gets ready)
"Let us go, guys," Gon voiced.
Gon, Tenzin, Korra, Meelo, Jinora, and Ikki went to the party quickly. If not, they would have been late. They quickly entered.
Tenzin was about to say something but got preoccupied with his kids.
Korra looked around, and as soon as she spotted Tarlock, she went in that direction.
Gon was left all alone.
"Hey," A mysterious voice said to Gon.
Gon turned to look and saw Asami in a beautiful red dress that looked fit for a queen. Gon got stumped at what to say.
"Oh, hey Asami," Gon muttered, "You look pretty."
"You ain't looking bad yourself," Asami replied, "So, what's been up with you?"
"Oh, you know training non-benders to protect themselves, crashing Amon's rally," Gon bragged, "The usual."
"You teach non-benders how to fight," Asami said, "I respect that, Can I join. I have gotten some training, but I would like to learn more."
"Yeah! You come on Monday," Gon answered.
Asami was ecstatic hearing when hearing the news.
"Oh, what has been up with you?" Gon asked awkwardly.
"I got my dad to fund the fire ferrets," Asami said.
Gon was about to speak when he heard, "Finally, the Avatar has joined Tarlock's task force."
Gon looked at Asami and said, "I am sorry, but I have to go to a friend who needs me now. See you at the lessons tomorrow, though?"
"Yeah, it is okay," Asami said, "See you Monday!!!"
"Korra, what happened," Gon shouted, "I thought that you did not want to join."
Korra looked at him, defiantly and said, "I changed my mind."
"I understand, I just don't want to see you hurt again," Gon said.
"I go on my first mission after the party," Korra said.
"Already," Gon questioned.
"Yeah," Korra answered.
See you later.
(The next evening - Press conference)
A press conference was happening after Korra's first mission with the Taskforce. They had been able to get into an equalists successfully and take their weapons.
"It was fun working with the Avatar. We were able to slow the equalists down, but if the Avatar would do more, we could beat them completely," Tarlock announced.
"What do you mean by doing more?" A reporter asked.
"Well, she could challenge Amon," Tarlock stated.
"Why won't you challenge Amon? Are you afraid?" The reporter asked.
"OkayOkay, how about this. I challenge you, Amon, to fight me at the Avatar monument. It is you and me, one on one."
Tarlock smirked at this. Soon his brother would not be a threat to his cover.
(On the way to Avatar monument)
"Are you sure about this?" Gon asked Korra.
"Yeah, I am," Korra mumbled, showing signs of uncertainty.
Gon looked at her with fear in his eyes. He was afraid of what would happen to Korra if she tried to fight Amon. He knew that she could not live without her bending; she was strong but not that strong. It would destroy her.
"You do not have to prove anything to anyone," Gon stated, "You are brave enough as it is."
"I am going, Gon," Korra said as she left the boat and went into the monument, "Do not follow me!!!"
Tenzin, who was watching the scene, said, "You will follow her, right?"
"Hell yeah," Gon smirked.
He would not allow her to get hurt this time.
Gon sneakily followed Korra hiding everywhere that he could. He watched as Korra was about to go in and then got trapped. It pissed him off, seeing that Korra was in danger.
He ran into where Korra was, and the scene he saw made him angrier. Amon was about to touch her, ultimately taking her bending.
"I'm going to kill you," Gon snarled. He attacked with a big right overhand punch. Amon stepped out of range, but before he could bring his hands up to defend, Gon drove his shoulder into Amon's chest, slamming him into the wall, where he started landing solid punches into Amon's gut.
"Equalists attack," Amon shouted injured.
An equalist with an electric bo staff attacked Gon attempting to electrocute him. He swung down with his bo staff and hit Gon causing him to convulse.
"I do not understand why you would attack someone who can redirect lighting with a lightning staff," Gon said as he redirected the lightning towards the man, "Oh wait, you did not know!!!"
The next man attempted to punch Gon in the stomach, but Gon just dodged and kicked him to the ground, continuing with a barrage of punches.
"It is only you and me," Gon smiled, "Do you know why I won't use bending against you? It is because I am fair and equal, like you like to fake."
Gon lunged forward, quickly sprinting towards Amon and coming closer, then jabbing out his hand attempting to chi block Amon but every time he attacked, his moves were just a little bit off. Amon punched him in the face and started his barrage of hits.
"I am unbeatable!!!" Amon stated.
Gon jumped back and quickly used fire bending to see what was wrong with his body. He had never missed when chi blocking. He saw that the water in his body had moved and instantly knew that Amon was a bender. He looked at Amon in disgust.
"You know I thought you were different. Even as I was fighting you, I respected you because you were doing this to create equality, but all you were doing was trying to make everyone else weak. I know you are a bender Amon if that is even your real name." Gon screamed, "I thought you cared, but I guess you don't so, why should I."
Gon's body went aflame, and he moved into his fire stance. He attacked Amon punching him in the stomach, and the started to throw a barrage of fireballs at the man.
Amon started to blood bend, but nothing was happening, Gon was still punching him, and soon he would die.
"Why can't I Bloodbend for you?" Amon asked.
"Water benders can control the water temperature, so I just made mine in a state of both wet and frozen," Gon said.
"That is crazy. You'll die after a while!!" Amon exclaimed.
"I know, but it is better to go out killing you," Gon said.
Hearing those words, Amon kicked Gon off himself with the consequences of burning himself and ran out.
"Korra, are you okay, okay?" Gon asked.
"Yeah," Korra answered.
"Great," Gon said as he fainted.
