Chapitre 22: Round 2; Tokiwadai vs. Kyosen

The tip-off was won by Kyosen, and they immediately broke into a fast break. The ball immediately was passed to the point guard who quickly threw it to the shooting guard of the team.

Aone, who was marking the shooting guard, jumped to contest the shot. He was not able to touch the ball, but it did cause the shooter to hurry and mess up his form.

The ball bounced off the rim, Mibuchi and the Kyosen's center jumped for the rebound, Mibuchi being in a better position caught the rebound and passed to Ishida.

Ishida dribbled the ball to the half-court, he saw Shun leaving his mark.

Ishida: 'I am going to have a lot of fun today.'

Ishida's defender had arrived there to mark him, Ishida faked a pass to the left where Otsubo was standing, the moment the defender moved to intercept the pass, he threw the ball to Shun.

Ishida' defender who was tricked grumbled,

Ishida's Defender: "Damn, it."

Ishida, who heard that felt a joy in his heart.

Ishida: 'There is nothing more satisfying than tricking a defender, and hearing the frustrated words after that.'

Shun moved forward to score and was met by two defenders, pure speed was enough for the first defender, and a single hesitation dribble was enough for the second defender.

Shun slowed down, and the moment the second defender matched his speed, Shun rushed passed and scored with a finger-roll layup.

The crowd cheered at the first score of the match, and the drive that Shun displayed had colored them impressed.

Ishida continued to make efficient plays that messed up with the defense, he asked, Mibuchi to shoot more from mid-range for the first half of the game to create an impression that Mibuchi's accuracy was extremely high.

The defenders were wary of Mibuchi because of his consistent shooting, so they tightened the defense in his area, which left enough space for the other Tokiwadai members to score.

Shun kept getting passes from Ishida, and he kept taking it to the basket to score, Kyosen was not able to stop Shun at all.

The crowd's cheer became louder with each play that Shun performed.

Shun decided that he should also play in the low post more to give Otsubo a breather, Shun was now 176 cm meter tall; and had grown five centimeters since entering middle school.

Shun was currently going against Kyosen's center; he was a good seven to eight centimeters taller than Shun, but to Shun, it didn't matter.

Shun: 'You indeed need size and power to be dominant in the post, but that doesn't mean that the post is big player's exclusive area.'

Shun, who is guarded by Kyosen's center, did a quick drop step and pivoted on his left foot to face towards the hoop, simultaneously locking the center in his position and scored with an overhand layup.

[A/N: A video's link on the drop step will be shared in the comment section.]

Kyosen's center could only stand and look as Shun scored and switch to defense.

Center: 'How did he do that?'

At half-time, the score was 36-25, with Tokiwadai in the lead. Shun had scored sixteen of those points.

But only Shun knew that he was going to be doing more damage in the second game.

Shun: 'I have already made a complete profile on every member of Kyosen's team, now all that left is to use that information to increase my scoring ability. Using the profile made by perfect copy is a good way to utilize the ability.'

The current Shun had already attained the same level of analytic ability as that of Kuroko's quasi-emperor eye.

Shun: 'It is far from Kise and Akashi's emperor-eye I can't predict the future of their body movement, but I can predict their plays, but unlike Kuroko mine works on both my teammates and the opponents.'

Shun was the type of player that got better in a game as the game went on. The more he played, the more he got to know the opponent, and that made way for another ability to showcase its charm,

Shun, with his version of quasi emperor-eye, was able to emulate Hanamiya Makoto's spider-web ability.

Hanamiya's skill was analyzing the opponents' passing patterns, swooping in the passing line, and stealing the ball. Hanamiya, would then with another player, narrow the opponent's choice of play, and tighten his web, and increase his stealing ability.

Shun was able to do the same but without the help of another player.

The second half of the game was even more brutal for the Kyosen, Shun, who now had their profile, decided to go for steals, which led to an increase in turnovers.

Kyosen's scoring rate decreased, and Tokiwadai's scoring rate increased.

Shun, who only had scored from the inside in the first half, started to pull three-pointer.

Kyosen's team members were now solely concentrated on Shun; this lead to the other players remain mostly unmarked.

Ishida used this opportunity to the fullest and used Aone and Otsubo to score more and more.

The momentum of the team boosted the morale of the players, and they started to play better and better.

The result of the game was Tokiwadai's victory, with the score 84-39.

Shun's contribution to the game was; forty points, fifteen steals, two blocks, and three rebounds.

Tokiwadai had the audience mesmerized, the high scoring second half with a large number of turnovers was a delight to watch.

This was also the first time Shun had stood out as much as he did in this match. By the time the day ended, everybody knew of the rookie from the champion's team.

Kageyama Shun had finally entered the scene as a threat to watch out.

Day one of the Nationals ended with sixteen teams proceeding to day two and thirty-three teams' journey ending on day one.

But the sixteen teams didn't have time to celebrate because Day two was not going to be easy.

After all, if they wanted to move on day three, they had to win two matches on the same day.

L’AVIS DES CRÉATEURS

Game is up,

Tell me what did you think of it, I want to know what to improve.

There was someone in the comments that thought that Shun should already have the quasi emperor-eye, and at that time I thought, "damn it why did you have to figure that out."

As always, like, add to the library, share it with other people.

Peace out,

Thx
