Chapitre 26: Jayden’s request to Aiden
Once Aiden dropped off Jennifer to the underground palace, he left to visit Jayden. Even though the surgery was successful, he still needed to be monitored for over two weeks as the blood loss which occurred before he could receive the proper treatment was immense.
The bullet just missed the heart in a two-millimeter radius. Aiden blamed Jayden for his carelessness and even wanted to punch him for trying to protect Jennifer.
In this whole wide world, all he had left with is only his twin brother, Jayden and he just had to protect an unknown person while putting himself in danger.
Even before he was moved to the ICU Jayden held Aiden's hand and had the audacity to say, "Protect Jennifer! I beg you! This is my last request"
And Jayden did let his hand go until he promised! Aiden just cursed himself for involving Jayden in this dangerous play. Why can't he stay away from all this mess?
All I wanted him to do was live his life happily but here he is always staying ahead of me while facing the danger. Even when he came into this world after a few minutes I was born.
Aiden hesitated while thinking if he should go inside the Jayden ward and so started to pace on the corridor. He could not control his anger right at this moment when he saw how pale Jayden looked while lying on the hospital bed.
He felt guilty for not protecting him properly and all his hostility shifted towards Jennifer. He promised himself to show her how torturous it would be to lose one's family.
He would put her through so much that she would start to beg for my mercy. Once his resentment was shifted to a person, he started to make plans to inflict severe pain on that person mentally.
And he was sure that he had definitely succeeded in his first phase. Even though he was not the person who made Jennifer's parents disappear but he was sure that he could use that against her now!
Just thinking about that made him feel excited and then he opened the door and entered the luxurious room which was almost like a mini-suite. The hospital in itself was considered mostly only for high-class rich people.
They owned two hospitals in the city, one they used for poor people and even helped the few who met the low-income category with free treatments while the other they used only for the super-rich and charged them mountain high fees!
The loss occurred in the first hospital will be balanced with the profit they earned from the second one! So until now, there occurred no losses in the hospital business.
Jayden woke up when he heard the door being pushed open.
"Hey, sorry didn't mean to wake you up!" Aiden spoke with a guilty feeling.
"How is Jennifer doing?" Jayden asked.
Aiden glared at him and did not respond to him even after fifteen minutes.
"What is wrong? What happened? What did you do?" Jayden got frustrated.
Looking at how his brother has changed because of a girl, Aiden started to think if Jayden had fallen in love with Jennifer. Then it would make the process even more difficult.
"Are you in love with her?" Aiden asked, looking at Jayden in his eyes.
Jayden lowered his eyes and did not reply. The silence continued for a long time. Even though Aiden almost understood Jayden, he felt a little disappointed spread throughout his heart!
He stood up and turned to leave but stopped in midway and said, "I do not know who but someone abducted Jennifer's parents. I guarantee you that I didn't do it but I am planning to use it against her to retrieve what I want"
"Please don't do anything that will make you regret later. Anyways, I already gave you the house keys of Dexter, we just need to find where he keeps all his important documents. I have made plans to do a thorough search by myself and did not expect that suddenly I would be bedridden. We just need to find Jennifer's family first and then... " Jayden tried to buy time by slowing down Aiden.
Aiden kicked the table with full strength and it cracked. He turned around and moved towards Jayden like the wind. He held Jayden's shoulder and barked,
"Do you take me for a fool brother? I know all your tricks, do not try to buy time instead of taking rest and get well soon. You cannot always protect everyone you love, sometimes we need to make a few sacrifices. I thought you had learned your lesson when you left our sister behind and came running to help me. But it looks like that was not enough and…."
"Enough! Stop! We will find our sister together by right means and not destroy the other's family! Please! Aiden I beg you! I know I am at fault, I must have not let our sister alone at that time and I regret it till this date. But please! Promise me you will not bring harm to anyone especially Jennifer and her family members" Jayden begged.
"So this is how you see me now! A villain who will go to any length to achieve my goals. Yes, I have killed a few people, maybe many but I never harmed an innocent life till now." Saying this Aiden pushed Jayden back and left with hurried footsteps.
He was disappointed in himself more than his brother. After so many years of searching, all he could find was so little details about his family's incident and now it was blocked altogether with no progress.
His stupid brother fell in love with the girl whose family might be one who helped the culprit hide all the factors. They even made sure to delete all the records related to his sister and made it look like she never existed.
Jayden felt hurt more mentally than physically now. He felt helpless as he couldn't help his brother nor his wife. He became useless, if only he was a little faster and sharper, he could have avoided this whole facet.
When he thought about the recent event, he remembered the shooter and then Jayden realized he forgot to ask about him to Aiden. He immediately pulled the drips out and rushed towards the door.
Aiden opened the door before Jayden could and saw him standing with blood dripping from his hand.
"Are you really trying to make me mad today or is it just me?" Aiden shouted and pulled Jayden towards the bed.
"I am sorry. You left in anger and I remembered that I forgot to ask you a few details about the shooter" Jayden said impatiently.
Instead of responding to his brother, Aiden pressed the emergency call button. Then he went inside the attached room to hide as usual.
All the doctors and nurses assembled in the room within five minutes. When the head nurse saw the bleeding arm, she immediately reacted and went forward to stop the bleeding. Then she connected the drips to his other arm.
Everyone stood in a row and had their heads down. At first, they were confused to see why Jayden pulled the syringe out and made himself suffer. Then he pressed the emergency button to get it treated again!
Looking at their confused faces and as no one had the courage to question their hospital's founder, he did not feel like introducing his brother to them yet who was one of the causes for this mishap.
He signaled everyone to move out and then waited for his brother to come out of the shadows.
"How long do we need to hide in each other's shadow? Don't you think we have already gained enough power to…"
"No! At least until we find our sister we need to be identified as one. Why? Do you want to show your wife Jennifer that you are not Aiden and also you are a good person while the whole Villain in your sweet little romance is me?" Aiden said sarcastically.
"Let us not talk about Jennifer, whenever we speak about her, you become hyper and our topic gets diverted in the wrong direction" Jayden sighed.
"Alright! Fine! So what do you want to ask me so badly that you would not even mind your own health while just running outside like a fool? I thought you came towards me to stop me from having a one-on-one fight with your wife" Aiden smirked.
"Shut up! She is a woman, how can you have a duel with her?" Jayden asked.
"Why not? I heard that she is an expert in combat skills and also had received severe martial arts training directly from her grandfather Phil. I believe everyone is equal inside the ring. If you have skills then it won't stop you whether you face a male or female against you. One day, if your wife agrees then I would definitely like to see her skills inside the ring! Anyways I don't see it is very far from today after seeing the way your wife behaves towards me" Aiden said with a fighting spirit.
"You! Hold your thoughts right there! And do not even dream of such a thing in your life. If anyone is doing anything with her, it will always be me! No one is allowed to touch my wife! If you want, go ahead and find a girl for yourself to show all your talents" Jayden shouted at him.
He almost got up from his bed to punch his brother's face. How can he be so cool about having a duel with his wife? Even if she is strong, what if she got hurt while fighting with his brother? He knows his brother's fighting skills and Aiden had never lost even a single game till now.
He himself is not a proper opponent yet and he always won the matches with his brother by using tricks. But once Aiden catches the trick he played, then Jayden would get severely beaten up later.
When Jayden asked Aiden to find a girl for himself, Aiden immediately thought of Elina. He definitely had a different type of duel with her and most likely he felt like he lost that game.
