Chapitre 16: That deafening silence

As we're sitting there alone, I say something. "So, um, I live at 364 Willow road. Do you know where that is?"

"Yeah, I know where the street is and the area around it."

I feel so awkward. I want to say something so bad like when we were walking all alone. Then I get upset, but not at anyone. I yet upset with my actions when walking back. Why couldn't I just say something? I mean, not tell her my first thoughts of her, no. I'm not ready for that. But why couldn't I just try to get to know her more? I just met her...but I feel like I've known her for my whole life.

Me getting upset with myself turns into a sudden burst of courage out of no where. "What did you first think of me when you saw me?" What did I just ask? I feel like there's some part of me that's taken over, a more risk-taking part.

"Well when you started talking to me, I suddenly got happy." She responds, making me glad. "But I didn't get why you hid behind the corner for a bit." Fuck my life.

"Oh yeah," I answer nervously, "I just got I bit nervous cause I got to school late so you were the first person I saw. I didn't know anyone there so I just panicked a bit." Well, it's not all lies, I did get flustered making me panic a bit.

"Makes sense," she calms me. "I would be nervous too. New school, new people."

"Yeah, I'm just lucky that I met the right person." Right as that leaves my mouth, I panic and clarify. "I-I don't mean it in that way! I mean, I met a good person, but that's what I meant to say." I'm so flustered and red as I'm internally screaming.

"Yeah, I get what you mean. It's good thing you're a great person then."

"Thanks." Again, that damn silence. It goes on for a while, but then she speaks up this time.

"We should get to your house in about five minutes or so."

"Ok, thanks again for today. I feel like I keep saying it, but I also think I can't say it enough." Wait, did I just say that out loud? Shit.

"It's no problem, and I feel that. I honestly feel the same."

"You guys are honestly so cool, I'm glad I found you guys."

"We're happy you found us, we had so much fun today. Remind me before you get out at your place to get your number so we stay in touch."

"No problem, I wouldn't leave without yours." What. The. Fuck did I just say?!

"Haha," she jokes, but again with that laugh of hers. I can't get enough. "I can't wait."

After her laugh, that deafening silence comes back again. Why? We were laughing, having fun, connecting. Then what happens next shocks us both. But I'm not sure if it's good or bad.
