Two days ago, the Professional Alliance of China Esports Committee (PACEC) announced the release of their new high functioning multiplayer online video game called "Glory." Aside from tv promotions, they are also handing out pamphlets in the busy streets, in every nook and cranny of China. The pamphlets contain instructions on how to log in the game, some rules, in game guides. There are also character introductions, though not actually characters, more like character classes just so the people could know which class they would choose upon playing the game.
There are 24 classes in the game but such classes are classified into seven specific classifications. The first class is Mage, which uses super natural forces. They're damage dealing spell-casters that specialize in burst damage and area of effect spells. Mages are well-known for their formidable damage output as well as their range of crowd control abilities. Although they are lacking in health because they can't wear heavy type armors, they are capable of performing a number of utility roles, from magic spell casting, teleporting, summoning creatures as helpers and they can give fast aid through air by means of flying.
The second class is the Swordsman and just like its name, such character specializes in sword practice. A character whose ability is fighting with different kinds of swords and they're one of the best in close range combat because it's easy for them to close the gap between their enemy.
Third is the Gunner, a unique group wherein the characters are expert in human war machineries such as, guns, pistols, cannons, revolvers, etc. This class can support in long or mid range. Try to stay still in your place for a couple of minutes and you'll find yourself bombarded to death.
The fourth existing group is the Fighter. This category need not to wield to any weapon, they mainly use their body. Such as martial arts, grappling skills, boxing or any way to brawl during a fight. With will power, courage, and determination, for a fearless fighter or a tough street fighter, defeating their opponents with their bare fists is their glory.
The fifth class is the Night Walker. A character who loves to roam in the night or in the shadows. They specialize in assassinations, traps, stealing and chanting curse. Play alone and this class will give you a lot of trouble.
The sixth group is the Priest where the character's focus is supporting their teammates through casting heals, tanking damage, sealing opponent's movements and many necessary things that benefit their team. A support is an important piece during a team fight but is in need of much protection due to being favorite targets of their enemies.
Lastly the final class is the Unspecialized. This character is probably the most difficult to play with because the characters class is of no class, the player should be able to use skills from the 6 different classes. If they plan to use a skill of a specific class, they must switch weapons into the particular class they need. A thorough understanding of all the 24 classes is a requisite to play such character.
A player only needs a game card and a strong internet connection to play the game and given that it's almost the release of the game, such game card is starting to run out. A lot of people are interested in the game and bought the game card as soon as it was available. Most people read the pamphlets thoroughly, trying to form gaming strategies that could somehow be effective upon playing the game, researching online strategies of similar games, planning on how to win the game before it's even released.
Internet cafes have been upgrading their units to prepare for the release of the game. Installing game card readers to cater their customers who are looking forward to Glory's release.
Just a few hours before Glory finally launches. People have piled up in internet shops waiting, some unfortunate people left to stand behind rows of occupied computer units others still looking for available computer shops with vacant units. That is how popular the game is even before its official release.
"Muqiu, what are you reading? Don't tell me you're also gung-ho about that game that people have obsessed about these days? What are those? Pamphlets?" Su Mucheng tries to grab the paper in Muqiu's hand.
"Wait! Stop it! I'm reading the guide! I'm looking through the character guide okay? I think I found the class most suited for me." Su Muqiu says excitedly.
"Priest? It sounds like a weak class." Su Mucheng says placing her head on her brother's shoulder so she could read what's in the pamphlet as well. Suddenly, a strong wind blows and slaps another piece of pamphlet to Su Mucheng's face. She takes it and sees that it's another Glory pamphlet. She opens it and reads the character guide.
Just then, a group of people suddenly starts gathering across the street and upon inspection, Su Muqiu notices that it's the small internet café that is about to open. These people have obviously been looking for other available internet cafés to play Glory upon its release.
"Wha-" Su Muqiu whispers. He stares at the internet café that's about to open and memories come flooding to his mind.
"It's going to open again? Mumu look! Boss Ben's shop is going to open! I wonder who's handling the shop now? I hope they're nice like him! Let's go Mumu!" Su Muqiu grabs Su Mucheng's hand and nearly drags her across the street to the internet shop that holds his memories.
