Chapitre 23: Hot Seat
"Well if you don't have anymore questions, let me introduce myself. My name is Brianna and I work at the Adventurer Guild here in town. I have been asked to ascertain what happened since the Adventurer Guild usually handles matters regarding non-humanoid things. I would now like to ask you some questions. Would that be alright?"
While I was still distraught over the origins of Snarf... I mean the Draft, the young woman asked me a question. Questioning huh, well lets see how much I can get by with non-verbal communication.
*Nods head*
"Before that I would like you to drink this. Don't worry it won't harm you. It is a rare serum that is meant to ascertain the truth. Since this matter is important the guild has deemed it necessary to use it on you. After you ingest it, for a short time, you will slightly glow whenever you tell a lie. The glow will be more intense the farther from the truth you are. Will you take it?"
Well I guess there goes my options of lying my way out of this. Maybe I can omit the truth... doubtful, I assume something like this is used in important matters because it doesn't have loopholes like that. I'm still too weakened to flee, maybe they left me in this state on purpose so I couldn't flee.
I could try and call for the zombies and murder my way out of here. No I shouldn't do that. Outside of becoming a wanted criminal, I'd rather not start wantonly ordering executions on innocent people. This woman was just doing her job. Well whatever, no point in fighting it, any other action will probably be deemed as suspicious. Alright lets do this.
*Nods head*
Brianna gets up from her chair and walks over to my bedside.
"I will help you sit up and then we can start."
She bends over and puts her arms around my back. Her hair gets in my face...she smells quite nice. No! This is not the time! Concentrate! This is an interrogation!
She sits me up and then hands me the vial. Oh... I thought she would help me drink it too. Not that I wanted such a thing, because right now I have important business. I am laser focused! Oh... her chest is bigger than I thought, I couldn't tell from the dark lighting when she was in the chair, but this close I can tell. Wait no, remember, laser focused! I go to grab the vial and happen to glance up at her.... it seems she noticed I was looking at her chest. Her eyes.... I know those eyes, those are the eyes of disdain.
I quickly down the vial and hand it back to her. I glance at her face again. Huh that look is gone, she is back to neutral, was I imagining it? Or maybe she is good at hiding her emotions, as expected of a professional from the Adventurer Guild... I hope my compliments reach her. Though I would hope even more if she really didn't notice... please forgive me.
She walked back to her chair and picked up a booklet and pen she had sitting on the table nearby. Looks like she was about to take notes.
"Alright let's begin. Did you fight and kill the Draft creature outside of the Town of Walfrey?"
*Nods head*
"Did you kill the guards that were with the wagon?"
*Shakes head*
"Did you strike the finishing blow on the Draft creature?"

"....Are you alright? Is there an injury we did not see when we examined you?"
It seems shrugging like that is not a thing in this world... I guess I have to use words on this one.
"I-I'm not s-sure."
"I see..."
I wasn't sure how she would react, but she continued scribbling. So far my body had not changed from answering any of the questions. This was easier than expected.
"Did you fight the Draft creature to the point where you exhausted your mana?"
*Nods head*
"Did anyone or anything else help you fight the Draft creature besides the guards?"
Oh she asked a hard one this time... now what do I say?
