"Ding dong, ding dong," the doorbell rang. Adrian, who had been reading, promptly stood up holding Emma, tidied his clothes, and walked a few steps to the door with a smile, opened it, and said, "Hi, Kate."

Kate was about to rush into his arms but stopped after only two steps, looking puzzled at the little girl in Adrian's arms: "Who is this?"

"Oh, this is Emma," Adrian introduced, then added, "My daughter."

"What, do you think... it's very abnormal for a 23-year-old man to have a daughter just over 1 year old?" Adrian asked in a normal tone.

"No... I... you..." Poor Kate was still in shock and couldn't recover.

"Alright, I'm just joking," Adrian laughed heartily, "Emma isn't my daughter."

"Ed!" Realizing she had been tricked, Kate immediately yelled in anger, her fists beating like raindrops on Adrian's body, "How could you do this! How could you do this!"
