There once was a kind pirate. Ever since he was a lad, he had always wanted to know what the most beautiful thing in this world looked like. Once he turned 21, he bought a boat. Then, began sailing the seven seas. He looked high and low. In caves and underwater, but never found what he was looking for. He found silver and gold; pearls and diamonds. Instead of keeping it all to himself, he gave it to those in need.
After a few years, the king heard of the kind pirate. The king thought of what he could give as thanks for all he has done. Then the king exclaimed, "Bring the kind pirate to me! The man or woman who brings him will get five bags of gold!" Word spread fast and soon made it to the kind pirate. Nobles came to see him one after another. However, he refused to go. "Why do you want to go? You have more than enough money." The pirate said.
After a few days of this, a dirty, old lady came and asked. "Please, won't you go to the castle? The king wants to repay your kindness." The pirate smiled, "I'll only go if you accompany me, my lady." The old lady laughed as she climbed up onto his back. The king was shocked to see the pirate carrying this old woman into his court. "My lord, I have come as you requested! Please, keep your word and pay the woman on my back."
The whole court laughed, except the king. The king sighed, "Very well, bring in the 5 bags of gold!" The pirate bowed to the king. "Now, as for your reward. I have three options for you. Become one of my knights, have a parade in your honor, or become a nobleman." The pirate thought as he looked around. As he did, he note the kings three daughters. "My lord, I don't want any of these." "Then, what? I can't think of any other way." The king said. "You have three choices by your side." The court pondered what he ment.
Then, the king looked to his left at his daughter's. Then, back at the pirate who only nodded. "Kind pirate, you may have what you ask for! For, it was you who stopped poverty in my kingdom! What you ask is not a hard task! However, I must ask why?" "My king, gold and silver means nothing to me! However, the hand of your daughter would! I will marry her and she will travel with me! I don't want the kingdom or jewels! Just a wife!" The king nodded and called his daughters over.
"Have your pick! Whichever one you like!" "My ladies, which of you is willing to be my wife. The eldest said, "Never in my life! I'd rather die on a pig farm!" The middle said, "Well, I'd rather marry a beggar than you!" The youngest blushed and said, "I'm more than willing. I'll do my best to make you happy as my husband." The pirate smiled at her. "Then it's decided! You and my youngest daughter will be husband and wife!" The next week they prepared for the wedding. After, the king even gave them a new ship. The kind pirate thanked the king.
After two weeks, the kind pirate got his crew together and all the supplies needed. With his wife by his side, they set sail. The young princess didn't have any problems. She made sure to help where she could. The kind pirate loved seeing her smiling face every day. Each day, he lost a little bit of interest in his quest. Instead, he began to point that interest towards his wife. After a year, he completely forgot what he was looking for. He still sailed and helped those in need.
One hot summer, the pirate saw a necklace in the market. Thinking of his wife, he bought it. Once he returned to the inn, his crew told him she went to the ship. He went to the ship, worried something was wrong. As soon as he saw her, he sighed in relief. "Hi, darling." She said kissing his cheek. "What are you doing here?" The pirate asked. "Inventory! You said yourself it needs to be done every week!" She suddenly stopped.
"Is something wrong, my love?" "No, I'm just…" "Don't be afraid to tell me anything." "Dearest, we might have to stay here for a while. Or at least I will." She said timidly. "Why is that?" "I just found out… I'm pregnant!" The pirate smiled and hugged his wife. Kissing her over and over again. He bought a house near the sea. He even asked people to check on her while he was gone. He decided for his baby's sake, he became a merchant. The princess waved goodbye as her husband left.
After four months, the kind pirate came home. He found a few people crying as he walked in. "Where is my wife?" The pirate asked. A doctor handed him two little bundles. Then said, "She did her best. In the end, she gave birth to these two and passed on." The pirate fell to his knees holding his children. The princess had left him. However, she didn't leave him alone. "She left you a letter." The doctor added. "Please leave." Everyone one left him alone. As he began to cry, one of the babies in his arms began to cry.
"Hush little one. Papa's here and I'm not going anywhere." The baby stopped crying and grabbed his finger. He lied them in their crib and looked at the letter his wife had left.
"Dearest husband, I'm sorry for leaving you and our children. I wish I could stay with you forever. But, I guess fate had something else in mind. Have you met them? Our son and daughter? Doctor said I'd be luck to make it through the night. To be honest, I'm happy I married you. At first, I did because you asked for one. Not one day went by, without you showing me so much love. The moment I found out I was pregnant, I was scared. He's a pirate. He doesn't want kids. Or so I thought. Once I saw your smile, I knew you'd never abandon me or our kids. I picked out their names. Our daughter is Oralia and our son is Anderson. I chose these names because they are our priceless treasures. I love you with all my heart. Love your wife, Alexandra."
The pirate cried as he read. "I see. I have finally found what I was looking for. My priceless treasures. The best booty anyone can ask for. Thank you, Alexandra."
