Chapitre 5: Chapter 4
I looked at Konner and said, "Are you gonna tell her what happened or not?"
Konner just looked at me. I growled and shifted into a brown wolf. I crouched, prepared to pounce on the Cat Shifter.
"Oh, yeah. I am. Okay, so what happened was this; I shifted into a lion and tore the soft membrane of her dragon wings causing her to change back to human and then she ran. You know the rest." Konner said.
I didn't shift back but I did however walk away. Techna obediently follows me. "Chara wait up! I'm not as fast as you when you're in the dark!" Techna said.
I sighed and slowed down just enough to let Techna catch up. As soon as we were out of the woods, I shifted back to human form and headed for my house.
"You're heading home? It's nearly midnight, C. Why don't you come over to my place and spend the night?" Techna asked.
"It's fine. No one even knows I'm gone except for Azzie. So chill out T." I answered. I walked over to where my bedroom window was located two stories up. I jumped up to the window and climbed into my room. "Goodnight Techna." I said, closing my bedroom window. When I turned around, Asriel was standing in the doorway.
"Where have you been Chara?" Asriel asked in a somewhat angry tone. Asriel never got angry unless Mom and Dad were out on a date.
I swore underneath my breath and answered, "I was out for a walk that's all. I told you that before I left."
Asriel just frowned. "You never said that you would be back at midnight. Damn it Chara what the hell have you been doing for ten hours and thirty minutes!" He shouted.
I whimpered, Asriel never yelled at me, in fact he never yelled period. I was trying to think of a lie when Techna came running into my room. "Techna?" I asked.
"She's been hanging out with me, she texted me asking if I wanted to go on a stroll with her and I said yes. Check her phone if you don't believe me." Techna said. I handed my phone over to Asriel after unlocking it.
He opened the messaging app on my phone and clicked the one that was labeled Techna. "Alright I believe you, but Chara why did you climb in through the window?" Asriel said, looking at me when he asked the question.
"Because I didn't want to wake anyone up, plus I didn't know mom and dad were gone!" I said, still whimpering.
Asriel noticed that I was whimpering and hugged me, saying, "Shhh. It's alright Chara. It's okay." He patted my head, waiting for me to stop whimpering. I eventually did stop and Asriel let go of me. "You okay now?" He asked.
I nodded and he left my room. Techna looked at me and said, "You have a crush on him don't you?" I looked away from Techna and blushed like crazy. "You so do! Oh my gosh. I can't believe it! You have a crush on your adoptive brother!" Techna squealed.
"Shhhhh! Not so loud T!" I said, still blushing. Techna smiled at me and then gave me a hug.
I sighed and pushed her off of me. "Come on C! You let Asriel hug you!" she said, pouting.
"Would you like to see my scales?" I asked, completely ignoring Techna. I opened the dresser drawer and pulled out a couple of green scales. "Look." I said, holding out the green scales putting them directly into Techna's eyesight.
"Woah! Cool!" Techna said in awe. She took the scales and started to scan them with her special robotic eye that looks surprisingly real. "May I test one of these?" she asked. I laughed and shook my head.
"You would have to do it here or do it with me nearby. Try leaving the house with one, T." I said.
Techna did as I told her and found that she could not leave the house, she walked back up to my room, the scale was in her handbag, and Asriel was right behind her. Techna looked mad while Asriel looked tired and confused. "What is going on?" Asriel said sleepily.
I sighed and said, "Azzie, can you keep a secret? Because if you can't then I'll have to keep it between me and Techna."
Asriel looked at me and said, "Chara you know I can keep a secret, but if mom and dad start asking questions I will have to tell them. You know how much I hate lying to them."
I nodded and said, "Watch this, but first you should come outside. T, you will have to stay here or jump out the window with me." I opened the window and Asriel ran downstairs and out the door. Techna and I stood on the windowsill, I jumped out the window and Techna jumped onto my back right as I shifted into a dragon. I then picked up Asriel with my talons and he started to scream. I looked at Techna on my back, she understood what I wanted her to do.
Techna climbs down to where Asriel is clinging to his life in my left talon. "Asriel, it's okay, she won't eat you or harm you in anyway. She trusts you with her secret, for she knows nothing else but the pain of being rejected by others. Surely you must sense the pain that she hides deep within her very being?" Techna says soothingly. Asriel looks up at my majestic green dragon head and stops screaming and he nods. "We will talk more when she sets us down." Techna says. "C! Set us down before you land!" She shouts up at me.
I dive down in a spiral and set them down before pulling up and then landing two feet away from them. I shift back, my clothes are in tatters and Asriel runs over and hugs me. "H-huh?" I stutter in pure confusion.
"Why didn't you tell me that you were in constant pain Chara?" Asriel whispers in my ear. I can hear his heart beating as well as hear his blood flowing through his veins. I look away, unable to respond to his question.
Techna answers for me, "Because she didn't want you to see her this way. Buried in the pain of her past as well as the guilt of what she did to those closest to her, she has tried to escape her past but is unable to do so. It haunts her even to this day." Techna looks at me before continuing, "Chara you should tell him how old you really are."
I shake my head before answering, "No, I shall not tell him anything of my past, it is only fair."
"Chara…" Asriel whispers in my ear again, causing shivers to go down my spine, not the bad ones of course, the good ones, the ones that fill me with so much love despite the hate and pain for myself. "Please, Chara, tell me so I can accept you for you." Asriel whispers again.
I whimper but answer reluctantly, "I am one billion two hundred forty-five million two hundred twenty two years old. I lived among dinosaurs but I am much older than the now extinct creatures. The two original Shifter's lived long before dinosaurs. The Wolf Shifter's and the Dragon Shifter's. Of course back then, wolves looked different but I have evolved to look like the new Wolf Shifters as well as retain my old true form of the old Wolf Shifter's. The Dragon Shifters are older than time itself, but now there are no more, except for me. I am the last Dragon Shifter, yet, I am also the last true Wolf Shifter."
Asriel looks at me in pure shock for a minute or two before responding, "But how?" I sigh and wait for Asriel to push me away, instead he pulls me closer.
"I'm not just a Shifter Azzie, I'm something… more, something… dead." I whisper, holding back the billion year old blood tears that threaten to spill.
"What are you then?" Asriel whispers back. I can still hear his heart beat and it's getting louder and louder in my head, I start to lose control of something I thought I had under control all those years ago.
"I am a vampire, and that is the truth." I whisper before pushing myself away from Asriel. I let the tears spill and look up at Asriel. "You might wanna run home before I lose control, Azzie. I haven't lost control in a billion years and I don't want to hurt you or kill you Azzie. So please! Run! Run as far as you can, I don't want to hear your heartbeat in my head anymore!" I sob. "RUN PLEASE!" I shout.
Asriel obeys, taking Techna with him, but Techna can't go far because of the scale she carries with her. "Go on without me. Chara can't hurt me so I will be fine." she says to Asriel and he runs on ahead. He ran all the way home, he entered the house and entered my room to wait for my return. He looks around my room before sitting on my bed and crying quietly to himself.
Meanwhile, I am hunting animals and drinking their blood, killing them in the process when Techna knocks me out cold.
