Chapter Thirteen

The next day Veno was trying to figure out how to explain Kear. Kear was listening to what he had to say and if there was anything she could help with. Both of them really didn't know how to explain it or talk about it.
'You could just be the one that talks to her.'
'First you need to talk to her. If I go in there then she will just think it's an act.'
'You could just prove that you know how to fight or those different languages.'
'Couldn't you have just 'studied' them? It all comes down to trust. Veno, you don't really need to tell her about me.'
'I want to be honest with Juniqu. Keeping her in the dark about you isn't what I want. None of us asked to be like this and plus I think of you like family, I don't want to hide you.'
'You could test it out on Granno first. With Rin's help that would make it easier for him. We could learn something from how we tell him, before going to Juniqu.'
'Great idea!'

Veno brought Rin and Granno together for a talk later that night. He had told Rin what he wanted to talk about, so she could be there when they tell Granno. Rin and Granno sat next to each other as Veno stood up.
"What did you want to talk about Veno?"
"Umm… I have someone from the future in my head."
Kear face palmed within her mind.
'Smooth.'
"What are you talking about?"
"Granno, be patient with your brother. Veno just start from the beginning."

"…and we have been together since that day."
"Are you writing a story?"
Veno sighed, this was really difficult to explain.
"I'm telling the truth."
Veno looked towards Rin for help.
"Your brother is telling the truth."
"Huh? So you want to be a woman?"
"I'm a man, but Kear is inside me."
"I don't care if you are a man or woman, your my family either way."
'Kear can you try talking to him?'
'I'll try.'
When they swap there are subtle changes in their posture. Kear's is a little more lazy than Veno's. If you had a good eye how they walk is a little different as well, but otherwise unnoticeable.
"My name is Kear. I am… was a military translator for the United Federation."
"Is this like a split personality?"
He looked towards Rin when he asked that.
"Not in this case. Kear can speak many different languages and ones I have never heard of. Everything they both say is the truth."
Granno turned back towards Kear.
"So you are from the future?"
"Yes."
"Then you know the future?"
"Well kind of."
Granno grabbed his head trying to think of something, but gave up in the end.
"I need some time to think about this."
Kear couldn't see what he was saying, so Rin told her. Granno walked out of the room leaving those three inside.
"I'm sorry."
Kear said that to Rin and Veno. She had already died, why did she have to invade their lives. Kear let Veno take back control. She needed to take a break herself.
"Thank you mom."
"Tell Kear that it isn't her fault. I know she is taking this hard."
"She knows."

Later that night Granno came into their room. Looking at the clock it was about three in the morning. Granno let Veno get up and turned on the light so they could speak.
"How does this work?"
"What?"
"You two."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I don't know."
"I'm still me and Kear is just another person in our family. Think of it like that. We both use the same body."
"Like… is she here right now?"
"Always. If one of us is awake, so is the other."
"Is that why you have been acting different then?"
"Well yea…"
"It's just weird, but I guess I can accept it. A high school boy and a woman from the future. Can I talk to Kear?"
"Of course."
"Hello Granno!"
She gave him a small wave.
"Has he been treating you well?"
As they talked, Veno felt embarrassed the entire time. Kear told Granno some embarrassing things that happened to Veno and she listened to the stories Granno told her. They ended up talking till morning. Since there was no school today, Veno let Kear and Granno have fun.
Being accepted made Kear feel a bit better. Even without having her own body, she was able to feel the warmth of Veno's friends and family around him. She was able to get used to life and the smile on her face grew.
