Chapitre 4: In Mourning

As I awoke in my heavenly soft bed, I couldn't breathe for a moment as Kai laid on my face. Placing him next to me under the covers, I glanced around and my heart skipped a couple beats at the sight in front of me. My view from the 'window' was of Earth. It wasn't beautiful or green with nice blue oceans or full of life. It was red from fires and black with ash and the water was dark from all the toxic waste and oil spills. Remorse rattled me to the core for my home planet and all it's inhabitants.

When I was laying down in bed and petting my new child, I noticed the time was already 6:00am. I hopped up, got dressed in some black scrubs, and quietly left the room, careful enough to not wake Kai. I walked to the bridge where Tavion and Abel were. I remember going to orientation and classes with them when we were chosen for Century. They were such big goofballs and made everything ten times better, because of that my studying became easier to do. My favorite memory was when we were looking through magazines and they found a photo of JJ Watt, a famous American football player, on the field and we cut him out and started calling him John Cena, a famous American wrestler. On the cutout, they wrote "THICCC" and I still have it with me to this day. Of course, that was years before we had to leave earth.

As I walked in, the guys greeted me and handed me a long arm cuff for communications with each other and to the bridge. I asked where the others were and they pointed me towards the Morgue. The morgue had a shoot that we could put people in if they wished to have their body in space. It also had a crematorium if anyone wished to keep the ashes. Trent, Sara, and Dylan were in there planning a speech and funeral for Veronica. "Cora! You're just in time! Sara was thinking we should keep it short and simple so we can prepare for our journey but Dylan thinks we should mourn the whole day and then depart tomorrow. What do you think?" Trent asked me as I knew decisions like that can be hard for him. "I think we shouldn't give the funeral more than an hour. We can celebrate her life and pay our respects, then go to the cafeteria and feast and drink our problems away." I responded. We have to remain on schedule and be on course by noon. Spending more time grieving would make us sad and it's not like we'll ever stop grieving for her for a long time anyways. "Besides, Dylban probably just wants to go back to sleep in his comfy bed for another day." I stated with a sly look on my face. "Stop calling me Dylban it's DYLAN!" He retorted. 'Dylban' was a nickname I heard directed towards him one day and it stuck with me ever since. "I gotta go set up some stuff so I'll see you guys in a few. Tavion and Abel are in the bridge giving us our communication cuffs." I declared as I walked out of the morgue.

As I finished setting up my medical bay, it was time for me to head back to the morgue for Veronicas funeral.
