When the sun broke, Yuan Ning kissed Wu Genji lightly and sensuously, which ignited a burning heat from inside his body. He paused only when she opened her eyes, looking up at him with her amber hues that shone the brightest in the morning. 

It was difficult for him to convey his thoughts. He doesn't know how to think of them. 

The prospect of being with her, even if their terms are a bit unconventional, had made him feel…happy?

Happy? He thought again. 

Yuan Ning shook his head. Happiness wasn't in the cards for him. Perhaps it was excitement that he was feeling. It was mutual on her part, anyhow. Wu Genji had been the one to propose that they'd have a peculiar relationship, which was fine with him. Nothing more could do anything good. 

Yuan Ning was going to roll over when Wu Genji pecked his lips fleetingly. Her lips were so soft that he felt momentarily entranced.
