Chapitre 42: Meeting
When the carriage of the Whitepelt Family stops in front of the palace. Lucas who was waiting for them immediately smiled. He steps forward to greet them.
The door of the carriage opens and a robust man steps outside. When he saw that Lucas was there waiting for them, he smiles widely and greeted him, "Brother Lucas it is been a long time since we've met. Seeing you healthy like this is really good"
When the rough voice of the man came out, Lucas reply, "You also look fine brother Roulant. You must be tired from the long travel, lets come inside so you could rest"
"Alright, you are the king. We follow you" Roulant said. He turns to the carriage and calls his daughter, "Lilia come out and greet your uncle here"
The moment he called out, a beautiful young lady steps out of the carriage. Snow white long hair was loosely hang revealing a beautiful yet cold face. Her purple piercing eyes were set graciously within its sockets as it sweeps to the people.
This is Lilia Whitepelt, a genius young mage of the whitepelt family. Her beauty could take men's hearts and can cause wars between kingdoms.
She gracefully walks in front of Lucas and said with a cold tone, "This one greets King Lucas"
Lucas was stunned when he heard the lady speaks. Just from hearing her voice, he felt a chill in his body as he thought, 'This lady so many years had passed and didn't expect she was still the same. She was still so cold to everyone'
Feeling that his daughter was rather acting disrespectful to his friend, Roulant fave was covered in shame and anger. But there is nothing he could do as his daughter was like this to everyone. "Father you called me?" Lori said.
Looking at his son and thinking that his son is now the king, he couldn't help but smile in joy. He then turns to the two and introduces him, "I know that you've already met him in the past. But let me introduce him again, this is my son Lori. And because of some circumstances, he was now the king of the kingdom. We just have the ceremony earlier"
"Son, they are the people from the Whitepelt Family in the Brightmoon Kingdom" Lucas eyes then fixed on Lilia and said, "This beautiful young lady here is the one I told you. She is your fiancee"
Hearing his father's introduction of the two. Lori was stunned, although he had a guess on who they were especially when he saw the lady. He didn't expect that his guess was right. He then immediately greet the two.
When Roulant heard his friend that he already pass the throne to his son. He was surprised, looking at Lori he finds that the young man has a very unique air around him. He didn't know how to explain it, it just he finds Lori a very unique young man.
Like her father, Lilia was also surprised when she heard that the young man was the current king. Though her face didn't show any reaction.
Seeing Lori this time, she felt that he really looks like the young boy in the past. He just grew up and becomes handsome. However, in her eyes, it is just that.
As she thinks of it, she thought that the reason Lucas passes the throne to his son was because of them. Thinking about it, Lucas might have passed the throne to his son to raise his son's status so that it could be the same with her. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, even if he becomes the king of the Silverwing Kingdom. It is still just a low-level kingdom and it's still not enough. Perhaps if he becomes a king of a medium level kingdom, their status would be the same.
For her, she just saw the passing of the throne as a desperate action without much thought.
As Roulant looks at Lori, he felt down. This was supposed to be his son in law, but because of family matters, he needs to break the engagement. To him, Lori was a fine young man. Even if he didn't have a talent, he knew the young man was good. Compared to the other young man in the Brightmoon Kingdom who only knows how to be arrogant surrounded by people who licks their shoes. For him, Lori was a perfect man for his daughter.
He could only sigh in regret and shake his head, "Brother Lucas can we talk?"
Lucas felt his heart dropped when he heard his brother's words. He glances at Lori and said, "Son why don't you walk around the palace with Lilia. We two adults just need to discuss something"
Lori didn't ask his father any further and just invited Lilia, "Young lady let me show you around the palace. I'm sure you will like it"
Lilia just glances at the hand offered by Lori and ignore it. He stands up and walks straight outside without saying anything.
"Daughter!" Roulant was really displeased by how his daughter acts.
"Uncle doesn't need to worry, I didn't mind it" Lori smilingly said. What he said was true, he really didn't mind on how Lilia treated him. He then follows her outside.
When the two left, Roulant took a deep breath and said dejectedly, "Brother Lucas, I wronged you this time. This is the decision of the family, and I don't have any power to stop it. I can only give you the compensation from the family"
Listening to Roulant words, Lucas already knew what he was talking g about. A helpless expression appeared on his face as he sadly said, "Brother it is fine, that is the decision of your family and there is nothing we could do about it. Also, I didn't save you at that time for you to give me your daughter. We can still be brothers even if this happened"
Roulant was really feeling down right now. When he was in the most desperate need of help, Lucas was the one who appeared and saves his life. At that point, he swears that he would repay his kindness for saving him by marrying his daughter to one of his sons.
That time the young him and crown prince Lucas became sworn brothers.
Lori followed behind Lilia without uttering a single word.
Suddenly when they reached the garden, Lilia stops walking and turns around. Because everyone was busy, there are no servants in the garden. They are all helping to prepare for the banquet.
"The purpose we came here is about the engagement between me and you. My father is probably talking about it with your father. We came here to break the engagement between us" without any emotion and consideration to what Lori feels, Lilia said.
Lori didn't say anything but just stares at her.
Lilia's face was covered in frost as she watches Lori doze off looking at her. She continues, "The desperate act of your father in making you the king so that your status will rise is not just a futile effort. No matter what you do, nothing will change. Because you are not worthy of me"

After she speaks, Lori suddenly burst into laughter. His laugh was full of sarcasm and mockery. "I think you misunderstood something here. But I praise you on the way you look highly at yourself. Thinking that because you have a high status and I am not worthy of you? And the engagement? I can say this in front of you that I agree with breaking it. Not because I'm not worthy of you. But because you are not worthy of me. You are not worthy of being the woman of the man who will stand at the peak of this world!"
Lori's expression was really shocking this time. His blood was boiling and the aura inside his body erupted.
For the first time since coming here, Lilia's expression change. Anger and amazement appeared on her face as she glares at Lori. She felt that Lori who was in front of her suddenly changes. He appeared in her eyes as a majestic ruler who stands above all. She didn't know why did she see him this way, but there is one thing she realized. That he was not what he shows he is.
