Chapitre 14: What You Know
Sera was pretty wasted so when Jack picked her up he simultaneously put her to sleep with a spell. The air temperature dropped significantly while Jack tended to the young woman. He noticed the change and knew his brother was feeling a certain sort of way. He was a lot more shrewd than everyone gave him credit for. He was on guard waiting for Lucien to make his first move.
Since the crush needed to be dealt with secretly and swiftly Lucien silently cast a spell. This spell was hard to detect and it made the victim clumsy as hell. Soon Jack tripped and Sera went soaring through the air. Lucien quickly used a levitation spell to take her to the bed. "Oh, thanks brother for assisting me there. I thought she would get hurt, but you saved her." Jack said in a somewhat condescending tone. Lucien didn't respond verbally, but flashed an evil smile at Jack. just then a wicked clap of thunder could be heard inside. The wind started whipping around the room and papers started to go flying. "So, you're gonna trash her room cause you're having a temper tantrum 'brother'?"
Jack quoted brother since they really aren't blood brothers. They both knew that he was adopted from within the family. That's how the eldest brother didn't get the eldest position. Lucien loves to remind Jack that he wasn't wanted and no one wants a halfbreed like him. Even though he possessed natural magic, he was still treated as inferior by his other siblings and family members. It was because his mother, Wes' older sister, had a relationship with a human and died giving birth to their love child. Wes was still young and didn't want the child to die, so he adopted him and became a single father. As a result of this information others looked down on him, but praised Wes. Wes was a proud man and never corrected people when they treated Jack differently.
Jack had been holding on to resentments and finally decided to let the resentments fly. He then cast a spell and it hit Lucien in the face. The corners of Lucien's mouth went up into a sinister smirk "So, you're finally fighting back halfbreed?" He then launched a counter attack at Jack, but jack dodged it and the spell destroyed a stand alone mirror. Pieces went flying everywhere and a big piece was about land on Sera. The men noticed a second too late, but something breathtaking happened. In her sleep she was able to protect herself with a shield. The men stopped fighting and just stared at the woman in the bed. Is she a natural witch. Both of them became excited with this new revelation. Being a natural witch made one stand out among their peers. It was a coveted trait and all the witches held the natural witches at a higher level.
This would mean that she possessed magic without training and it seemed she was quite strong. Her barrier was pretty robust and stayed illuminated around the entire bed. Seeing her there contented in sleep made both men regret their anger. "We should leave and deal with our issues later when we haven't had any drinks." Jack offered. "You're right we were foolish and shouldn't have fought here." Lucien looked down obviously disappointed with himself. He flicked his wrist and all of the damage was gone and the room looked like it had. Jack abruptly exited and left Lucien alone with Sera, who was still sleeping.
His face turned soft and somewhat loving. He then leaned over to kiss her on the cheek. "You're going to change my life, aren't you?" He asked her, not expecting a reply. Suddenly, she grabbed him and pulled him into the bed. "Stay and hold me" she mumbled sleepily. How could he say no to this sweet gesture? He then made the decision to stay there til she gave up his body.
