Chapitre 8: Dimitri Reacts
As soon as he laid eyes on his daughter he knew he was in trouble. Her attire was alluring and let the imagination run wild. His first thought was to put her into a brown paper bag and then confine her in her room for the remainder of her life. His daughter wasn't allowed to be sexy or provocative. Even though his fatherly instincts were on fire, one look from his wife told him to simmer down.
"Luna my dear! And my sweet little girl." He threw that last one out to remind Sera that she was still his child. Sera rolled her eyes, a typical young reaction. "Oh dad, I haven't been a little girl for some time now." She laughed and hugged him. Once her words were out his face paled and he quickly said, "oh no, you mean you're not a-a-a..." No matter how hard he tried he couldn't get the word out and that word scared him the most when it came to his daughter. "A what, dad?! Spit it out!", Sera said annoyed. "Virgin? Dear?" Luna offered up her thought. "Yes...that. Don't tell me that you have done...that." He sounded bitter and disappointed. "No dad, I'm still your little girl in that respect." She said low and almost under her breath. She was slightly embarrassed to be talking about her lack of a sex life in front of Lucien. Lucien on the other hand looked bored and then started mingling with the other guests.
Sera didn't know why, but she was somewhat depressed when Lucien left. She calmly looked around the room and saw him chatting with a man that looked similar to him, but was slightly older and more rugged. She wanted to assume the persons identity, but she didn't want to make an ass of herself. She decided to shrug off her parents and sauntered over to the men she was eyeing. "Lucien, please introduce me to your friend," Sera said in a friendly, sexy manner. Surprised by her brazen behavior Lucien stood with his mouth agape. "Hi, I'm Jackson, but you can call me Jack for short. I'm Lucien's oldest brother." He proudly announced. His deep green eyes were more magnificent than Lucien's and they had a warmer feel when they landed on you. Suddenly Sera blushed as their eyes locked. Lucien felt extremely uncomfortable and threatened. How dare his brother flirt with his woman! Just as he was about to say something, Dimitri showed up and gave Lucien a look that said 'keep your mouth shut!' He wasn't scared of Dimitri, but he decided to not create a scene.
"Sorry to be rude and not introduce you. Jack, this is Seraphina Brooks, and Sera, this is my brother Jack." Lucien quickly introduced the pair. Dimitri was looking on silently, but put his arm around his daughter and laughed, "isn't she charming? My little girl will make a great wife someday." At the word wife Sera shuttered and thought 'ugh!' The thought of marriage always made her feel slightly suffocated and nauseous. "Actually, Sera I have a few things I need to say to you before we make our big announcement. So boys, please excuse us." Her dad squeezed her shoulder a little to show he meant his words. Reluctantly, she followed Dimitri and left the brothers behind.
Once they were alone it seemed like Dimitri was sizing her up like they were about to battle or he was about to say something that would start a fight. He looked around for Luna, as she was better at this sort of thing, but she was busy being a great hostess. He sighed then began to speak, "Sera, I haven't been completely honest with you..." "what!?!" She couldn't believe what she was hearing. "You are betrothed to Lucien and tonight we were going to make the announcement." He figures he would shock her with this tidbit first since it was the less chaotic choice. She stood in utter disbelief 'cause she couldn't believe they still recognized arranged marriages. Not to mention that she was in an arranged marriage. Especially with someone she didn't even know! Something still didn't feel right. It seemed like her dad had more to say, but couldn't get the words out. "Is that all?" She asked in a whisper. "No, there's more." He gulped and then looked down. "Also, you're a witch and so is everyone here at this party."
