CHAPTER TWO

It's already five in the afternoon, but the sky was covered with darkness already. The rain started to pour. Madami na ang mga estudyante na nag-aabang nang masasakyan sa labas nang Alphabet High. And I am also one of those.

It was the rainy afternoon of sixteenth day of September. It's already ber month's. The start of Christmas here in the Philippines. And this will be the fifth year is will celebrate this Christmas season alone.

It's been five years, the last time I saw them. It was still a fresh memory the remember. From how I proved to them about my dream. Even if I am just a twelve years old kid back then. On how they argue with me. On how I break their rules. On how I argue with them. On how they abandoned me. And on how I started a new life, using my own strategy.

Napa-buntong hininga ako. I am living my life alone. A seventeen years old student. A faceless journalist. A scholar with a bitchy attitude. A journalism student. It's been a while.

I raised my head. My brows knitted when I saw Faye Falcon. Wearing her usual attire. Her uniform covered with her denim jacket.

What the f does this girls' problem? Walking in the middle of the rain is a stupid thing. Why would a famous fashionista will didn't bother to bring an umbrella? Or anything that can block the rain to make her wet?

I sighed.

I roamed my eyes. They didn't notice Faye. I look at my wristwatch. |6:01| it's already six? Tsk! Wala yatang balak na sumilong ang babaeng yun.

I opened my umbrella and started stepping my feet towards her direction. Tsk! Stupid crowd eh? Why they didn't notice her? Or they just didn't bother to notice her presence?

Napa-iling ako. This is the society by this time anyway. Why would I question their acts? This is how humans live by now. Ignoring those who needs help, for their egos. Helping those who can help them back. Whew! Help with benefits. Be friending to those who have influence,or face. For what? For their own sake.

If you fall on the society's trap, you have nothing to do but to accept the fact that... You are under their powers. You have nothing but a fool in their eyes if you complain. In short,if you proclaimed your thoughts late, you'll lose.

Kasi kung alam mo na naman daw, bakit kailangan ko pa daw na patagalin?

But when you revealed it? What will they said?

They will just ask you for an evidence.

It is hard to live in this unfree society. They are under greediness. They didn't know how to live in a fair way.

I stopped when the umbrella covered her already.

"Walking in the middle of the rain, won't help you in your problems,Ms.Falcon"I smiled at her. She stare at me, giving me some kind of... Cold stares.

I look at her lazily. "Come with me"I ordered. I already stepped my foot when I realized that she will not obey me,coz she didn't even know me. "I am Arieza Avery... Come with me,let's talk about your problem"I smiled a bit. "I maybe can help you"

She stare at me for a while, but at the end he nod and started walking with me.

Wala nang tumi-tigil na sasakyan dahil parehas kaming basa ni Faye. If you think, that would be unfair. Why wouldn't they stop for a passenger? Coz we're wet? Oh,maybe I am right

In this society, you can only treat and depend in yourself. Not with anyone, even your own friends, special someone or family. This society is cruel. You don't know who's the prey and who's the predator.

Thank god, Faye's apartment was just a walking distance. We reach it before seven. Okay,it was not really a walking distance one. Haha!

She opened the door and motion her hand, then nod at me. Like pertaining that she wants me to enter. I nod slightly and come inside.

"You're alone here?"I asked. Then she nod. Hmm... She's a silent type, huh? "Whats your problem? I know, there's a reason why you're walking in the middle of the rain. That's stupid if there's no reason... Coz you know, everything happens for reason"I said why shrugging my shoulder.

She's starting at me. Confused. Maybe thinking on how she will tell me about her problem? Hmmm, maybe. Baka nga...

I waited for minute but she remain confused. Her brows were knitted,it almost meet. I stare at her. I saw how she swallows her saliva. She's... Kinakabahan? Kinakabahan sya?

"Why?"I asked. She pull her cabinet. Napalunok ako sa pag-aakala na ikaka-pahamak ko iyon. To my surprise,it was a notebook and a pen. "W-whats with your notes and pen?"awkwardly,I asked.

She started writing... Writing... Wri---she can't talk? She's writing, and not speaking. She don't use sign language. Yeah! It's possible for a mute. If she knows that the person she talks with, cannot understand the sign language.

I...cannot speak...

I nod at her and smiled. Without any fake treats with her. I tapped her shoulders. "I understand you... Walang halong kaplastikan. Walang halong ka-peke-an. Pangungutya or anything"I smiled at her.

She sighed and bow her head. She write again. And face it to me. Sadness drawn to her face.

They are telling that i am worthless. People's already know that I'm mute. That's why they don't support me anymore. The clothing line I am modeling already ignore me.

Being a fashionista is what she wanted to be. A girl who never wished to be mute. A girl who never wanted to be worthless. But those who are disabled persons are worthless for real?

Tsk! The society. The society was the one that blocks the freedom of this country. Discrimination. Own definitions. Judges. It's ridiculous, but yeah! This is how the 21st century works.

"Coz not everybody can think wider. Ikaw, you think of me? A simple student in disguise? Yeah! I am a scholar. But beyond that scholar is a billionaires daughter. But because I break a rule,I was abandoned by them"I told her. "Hindi lahat maiintindihan ang dahilan nang pag-pa-panggap. Hindi lahat matatanggap kung ano ka. I. My situation, they will not hate me either. They will have their second face, their fake part. Si-sipsip. You know?"

She nod at me.

"You know Faye, it's never a problem being a disabled one. It's just people's can't accept the fact that there's nothing perfect. They raised their foreheads as if they are perfect..."I smiled bitterly. "Just like my parents, imperfectionist. They rule me. But,I disobey. Coz I don't want to be treated like an artificial intelligence robot"

I felt my tears flow down. "Being true to yourself. Being yourself is not a problem. As long as you know your limits."

Stopping your tears to fall will never make you fine...
