March 28th, 1980
Today was a festive day for the Greengrass family. The family head Joseph's wife, Helen, has given birth to their baby boy.
Right now, Helen was resting on her bed with Dean in her arms. Even though she was tired after the birth, she kept her gaze on her beautiful baby, not wanting to separate from him even a second.
"Dear, he is so handsome, isn't he?"
"He sure is. But, I already lost count how many times you asked the same question. Don't worry he will be as handsome as his father." said the man sitting right next to her. He couldn't help but show a proud expression on his face.
"Hmph. I will say it as much as I want. Also, he is already much more handsome that you could ever be, Joseph." Helen was annoyed with him not playing along. When she is not happy, she would start calling him with his name, instead of just 'Dear'.
Taking the hint, with a twitch on his face, he stopped talking. "You already gave birth but didn't lose your temper at all. Wasn't it supposed to only happen when you are pregnant?" He murmered to himself.
"What did you say?" Helen gave him a glare. Before she could question him further, the door suddenly opened with a "BANG"
"Sister in law, are you alright?" a beautiful woman entered with haste, she had blond long hair and blue eyes. She resembled Joseph with her pale face.
"Evelyn, don't run around with a belly like that." Joseph warned his sister, since she was already 6 months into the pregnancy. But he was just ignored, since the women were already deep into the conversation while playing with the baby.
"She never listens." said the tall and handsome looking man, while entering the room after the woman. "Congratulations, Joseph. You finally have the heir you so desired. I hope he will be a powerful wizard like you."
"Thanks, Oliver. I didn't really expect you two to arrive this early but it's good to have you two back."
"Well, you know how your sister is. Once she got the news about Helen giving birth, she couldn't sit still and rushed immediately. Even though our trip wasn't over, it is better this way. She should be resting instead of running around." while getting closer to the bed to get a look at the baby, he asked. " What did you decide to name the Baby?"
"Dean, Dean Greengrass. What about you? Did you decide what to name my niece?"
"Evelyn wants to name her Daphne. I wanted it to be Astoria, but, she just brushed it off by saying 'We can name our second daughter Astoria.' " Oliver grumbled before remembering something.
"Joseph, do you remember our promise back then?" gazing at the baby with contemplation. "Which one?"
"You know, I'm talking about that one. 'If we have a daughter and a son in the future, we should marry them together." making himself sound like Joseph.
Immediately, Helen and Evelyn stopped talking and kept listening to the conversation. When it comes to their child, women can be very protective.
"Well... at the time I didn't know that you will be marrying my sister." avoiding the piercing gazes of both women, Joseph tried to explain himself. "How should I know he will marry my sister for god's sake. Don't look at me like that." after that, there was only silence.
"It is actually quite common with the noble families, they would marry their cousins to preserve their bloodline. What do you girls think? We don't have to make it happen if you are against it. It's just a promise made by two teenagers." pulling the girls into the conversation, Oliver tried to dissolve the awkwardness in the room.
"It's not that I'm against it, but, isn't it just too early to discuss this? I mean Daphne isn't even born yet. Will they even like each other?" Helen creased her brows, currently, there were countless questions in her head.
While she was absent-minded, Oliver took the opportunity to take the baby to his hands. "Look at you, enjoying the company of two beautiful women." as if he is disturbed, the baby started to struggle. "Hey, hey. You can't just ignore your uncle. Come, give me a smile." just as he finished talking, the baby looked right into his eyes. At that moment he stopped moving, even breathing, just for a split second. But nobody realized it, because they were all surprised with the sudden changes happening to the baby.
Within a second, the baby transformed into a small basilisk. While they were still in shock, it started to slither towards Helen. When it found a good spot in Helen's arms, turned right back into a baby.
...
"What did I just saw... was... that a basilisk?" Oliver stuttered, still in half shock.
"Yes, we all just saw it" Evelyn was amazed at her nephew. Just as she was about to continue, there was a burst of loud laughter.
"Hahahahaah, that's my son right there. He is a genius, a natural animagus. Just look at him slither away. Isn't he amazing." he couldn't stop laughing at all. He was just too happy. Having a genius son was a dream of every father.
"Dear, will he be fine? What if he can't transform back while he was in his animal form. He is just a baby. Can he even control it without harming himself?" there were already tears in her eyes, threatening to drop any second. While the father was happy, the mother was worried to death. Transfiguration was a dangerous thing to do. If you don't know what you are really doing, you could harm yourself. She was right to be worried.
"I don't think it will be a problem. It just looked like a perfect transformation to me. Maybe too perfect for a baby to perform, it's baffling." Joseph tried to comfort his wife.
"Will you be registering him as an animagus?" Evelyn asked with worry. Because, every animagus should be registered at the Ministry of Magic without exception. When they are discovered unregistered, they will be prisoned and sent to Azkaban.
"I think we should wait for him to get a little older for that. A newborn being an animagus would cause quite a commotion. It wouldn't be a good idea to be put on the spotlight, especially for Dean. If it gets discovered, we can just say 'It's his first Transfiguration as an animagus.'. They can't blame him at that point for not registering." Joseph said seriously. He knew how serious this matter could get.
"I agree. We can't put Dean under pressure. If the public knew, they wouldn't just leave him alone. I want him to have a normal childhood, where he can enjoy it to the fullest." Helen was tense, ready to protect her child's future from the busybodies. She will not let them bother him at all.
"Let's leave it at that. We shouldn't make more noise, he is already asleep." Evelyn stopped the conversation before it could get heated. She could already see her sister in law looking around with dangerous glint in her eyes. She was just like a tigress, ready to protect her cub from the intruders.
Looking down at her arms, Helen's gaze softened immediately. "Baby, mother will make sure you are safe and happy." tightening her hug, she softly muttered to her baby.

I decided that our protagonist will be born into the Greengrass family. The reason being the blood curse that has been put on their ancestor. At least that is how it was perceived by the ignorant descendants. In the next chapters, I will explain it in more detail.
Because I just started the story without proper preparation, it might take a while for me to release chapters rapidly. But I will probably be able to write daily chapters. If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment, so I can implement them if they are consistent with the story I write.
