The atmosphere instantly lightened with the arrival of the two creatures. Having shed their slimy outward appearance and thick shell the two walked shakily on short legs. They sported short, round nubs for claws and two small fleshy mounds atop their heads. The girls immediately felt their hearts melt and hurriedly picked one up. Bast gazed adoringly at the small Dragon before looking hopefully at Ra, "Can I name it?" she whispered softly, almost pleading. Ra had already decided on their names but looking at the current Bast he conceded, "The girl," he said, "you can name her," Xiara chose this moment to cut in, "Me too, I want to name one!" she begged, "No," Ra said firmly, "The male is Gwyn." Xiara looked crestfallen and hugged Gwyn tighter who began to squeal in protest at having his wings restricted. Concerned, she quickly released her grip and Gwyn leaped out of her arms and glided gently back to the ground. He landed somewhat awkwardly but managed to waddle over to Ra and take shelter behind his leg. Bast shot a smug glance at her before turning her attention back to the female in her arms.
"Hi!" she said in a cute voice, "What's your name?" and she bent her head forward to touch her nose to her snout. The Dragon nipped her nose with a toothless jaw which caused Bast to giggle in delight. "Careful," said Ra, "Or she just might end up believing you are breakfast." Bast shot him a reproachful look. "I think," she said to the Dragon, "You look like a Morgan, but thats a people name so how about..." she chewed the inside of her cheek for a moment- "Morrigan! Yes, your name is Morrigan." and she nodded in a self-satisfied sort of way at her own brilliance. She shot a look at Ra as if daring him to refute her but he merely nodded. She then gave Xiara a look of triumph who promptly folded her arms and turned away in a huff.
"Come, Morrigan, Gwyn." Ra said, and Morrigan leaped from Basts' arms and unfolded her wings. she landed gracefully on Ra's shoulder; this impressed him as she was clearly adapting faster than Gwyn. Bast gaped, "They were just born, they already understand you?" But Ra shook his head, "You misunderstand, they just hatched," he corrected, "They were born over a year ago." Bast looked puzzled but Ra didn't offer any further explanation. "In any case," Xiara cut in, "It should be time to visit my father, no?" and without waiting for them to answer, she spun on her heel and began making her way toward the castle. At this Xllor became more active as he shouted at her to wait and quickly ran after her. Ra and Bast shared a glance and after picking Gwyn up off the ground Ra opened a spatial gate and they stepped through.
The spatial gate was extremely eye-catching, and dozens of people watched as a handsome young man and beautiful young woman carrying white winged creatures stepped out of it. They had arrived in front of the castle, almost instantly they were surrounded by guards holding long black spears. Bast snorted and raised her arm- "Stop! stop, stop stop, they're with us!" Xllor ran forward panting heavily holding a gleaming badge of obsidian with etchings engraved in its surface above his head as he braced his other hand against his knee to catch his breath. The guards moved as one, retracting their spears and bracing the butt of the weapon against the stone. "Yes, Sir!" they shouted as one, and smoothly returned to their posts. Xllor offered a weak smile and Bast- rolling her eyes lowered her arm.
Somehow Xiara had managed to pick up a train of admirers on the way to the castle and men both young and old followed in her wake holding gifts and professing their love to her.
Ra cocked his head at her, "Are you a monster?" he asked cautiously, to which Xiara didn't answer but instead offered him a wry grin. Xllor spoke up, "Not...exactly," he said, "She's a half-succubus, level 2 in fact. Magic oriented," he said matter-of-factly. Realization dawned on Ra, "it's another stage?" Xllor nodded, "in that case," and Ra emanated his aura of a level 1 Saint Dragonknight, his power shook the surrounding space and many bystanders were knocked off their feet, including Bast, Xllor, and Xiara. The only ones who remained unaffected by this were the two Dragons who sat on his shoulders, who roared, or at least they tried to, what they actually managed was more closely attributed to a yawn. Ra aimed his aura towards Xiara in an effort to measure her strength, and found her to be a full stage weaker than Bast. He withdrew his aura with some disappointment.
"Is that all?" he muttered quietly, but this did not pass unnoticed by Xiara whose cheeks promptly flushed pink, "Half-Succubus!" she snarled, "Half! Okay? when I become a full Succubus I'll be just as strong as her!" and she shot Bast a withering glare accompanied by a trembling finger. Seeing her angry expression caused Bast to grin but she said nothing. "Humph!" Xiara turned her head away sharply and stormed into the castle.
Ra sighed, "Look what I've gone and done now," he groaned and followed her inside the Dragons having leaped off his shoulders followed closely at his heels.
Bast was in a very good mood and entwined her arm in his and wore a happy expression on her face, her green eyes lit up as if they were smoldering flames dancing in their sockets. Ra breathed in the scent of hair as they walked arm in arm alongside Xllor behind a furious Xiara storming towards the throne room. From time to time Xiara would throw venomous looks behind her at the pair and once, Ra was sure he saw a tear gleaming in her eye, but it promptly disappeared.
The hall they were in was quite long, portraits lined the walls all the way to the other end, Ra decided these must be past kings as each one wore a beautiful golden crown studded with black gemstones. At the far end of the hall were two huge black doors, "These people sure love black," he thought silently, the top of these doors stopped just short of the ceiling which was no minor comment as the entire place was less a castle and more of a palace, the ceiling was at least 500 feet above their heads. Even Ra felt extremely small; Upon reaching the doors, Xiara pulled out a badge that resembled a perfect replica of the one Xllor had displayed earlier. She touched it to the doors and they slowly began to swing open, "The only way to enter the throne room is by inserting the Symbol of Orleise," Xllor explained, and produced his badge again, Ra could see the engravings on it much more clearly now. "The Kingdom of Suvain is notorious for its assassin's, naturally we have had to take precautions against them," he said. "Only one way in or out."
Ra and Bast shared a look, it wasn't a bad thing to be paranoid, but if you were strong who could assassinate you? This to them was a very stupid precaution, they didn't know the Royals of house Suvain would be such cowards. However, seeing as they had already come this far they might as well hear them out, and so they walked into the throne room behind Xllor, Morrigan and Gwyn at their sides.
