He Yang's living quarter is situated at the very top of Martial Peak. The formation that they had used to get here could only be activated by using He Yang's spiritual energy. An ordinary disciple has no way of entering this section of the peak due to a small protective barrier around it.
He Yang carried Jia Li underneath his arm and entered the house. It was generously spaced with dark polished wood floor and through the elegantly carved windows, bright light shone through to illuminate the rooms.
The overall layout of the house gave off a relaxed and peaceful feeling which amused Jia Li a lot. Not even a day has passed since she met her Master but just from their recent interactions, she can tell that her Master was an energetic and loud-mouthed person. To think that his living quarter would be the complete opposite of her impression of him, it made Jia Li pleasantly surprised and amused.
He Yang set Jia Li down onto the floor and motioned for her to follow him. His footsteps were completely silent while Jia Li made soft tip tap noises as she walked.
"There should be an empty room somewhere down this hall..." He Yang muttered to himself as he briefly slides open a door only to shut it again.
Jia Li grew curious. As far as she can tell her Master have been living alone so how are all these rooms they've passed by full?
When He Yang had walked ahead to check on another room, Jia Li secretly opened the door that He Yang had opened but closed just before and peeked inside.
This is....
Jia Li didn't know what she had been expecting to find. Every inch of the floor's surface was filled with miscellaneous things. There were scrunched up piles of parchments, dusty swords, wrinkled robes and a bunch of other things she didn't recognize.
Don't tell me..... all the other rooms are just like this one?
From ahead, He Yang called out to her. "Little disciple, I found you your room. Come have a look."
It was an empty room with the same wood floor and window like the rest of the house. From out the window, the back yard can be seen, a peaceful scenery with an old willow tree swaying its branches even though there was no breeze, casting shades everywhere.
"Let's see, you will be needing a bed, a table....do you like to read?"
As He Yang was speaking, he began to pull out a bed from his storage ring.
....How do these people do it? First it was the woman during the selection conjuring rocks and trees from thin air and now her master is pulling furniture out from a ring....it looks so convenient.
He Yang pulled out a bookshelf filled with books and placed it next to the table. That looks about right. Although the room still looked a bit empty, he'll fill it up as he goes later.
Grabbing Jia Li and tucking her underneath his arm, He Yang went outside to where the transportation formation was and activated it. In the next second, they were on the bottom of the mountain again.
Why does her Master carry her like this every time they go somewhere? Jia Li would rather not have this turn into a daily thing.
"Um Master, I can walk by myself you don't need to carry me."
He Yang gave a grin and patted her head. "Be obedient. You can't fly on a sword yet so of course I'll be carrying you."
Making a sign with his hand, the sword hanging by his waist shot out of its scabbard flew into the air. He Yang made an easy leap and landed accurately onto the sword.
"Where are we going." It was almost nightfall, where could they be going at this time?
"Paying a visit to your household naturally."
My....household? They were going to visit her parent?
Jia Li has mixed feelings about this. Technically speaking, although the body she possesses is indeed someone else's daughter, right now it was her consciousness inside the body, not the "owner's". Furthermore, she has no memory of her "parents" so in truth Jia Li doesn't have any emotional attachment to them. In fact, to her Ling Guan was more like family in her mind.
After an unknown amount of time, a lively city came into view below them. It was already dark but the streets were still full of people and night stalls. Lanterns and oil lamps were used to illuminate the street.
They stopped in front of a gate with a jade plate overhead that read "Xie" in a big bold character.
He Yang had sent a message ahead of time to notify them of their arrival. No sooner had they landed, Jia Li was snatched out of He Yang's arm and smothered in a woman's embrace.
"Ah Li, where have you been? How could you sneak out like that? Do you know how worried your father and I have been?"
Jia Li has seen her fair share of beauties both male and female during her time in the palace. When she had seen the Peak Masters during the disciple selection she had thought that they were abnormally good looking and attributed it to that cultivation have beautifying effects.
However, the beauty of the woman hugging her was still a notch above anyone she has ever seen before. Flawless white skin and fiery amber eyes that shone brightly under thick lashes. Her pale golden hair reached the ground and the only ornament she wore was a headdress adorned with several blue crystals that rested by the side of her head.
This woman is my mother? Why don't I look anything like her? Jia Li found her answer as soon as she laid eyes upon the person standing behind her mother.
Black hair with stunning cold blue eyes, Jia Li realizes where she got her looks from.
"Mother..." Jia Li couldn't breathe from the hug. For someone that looks so delicate, her Mother sure has strong grips.
The hands wrapped around her stiffens. Her Father's stoic face has a visible crack on it.
"W-w-what did you just call me Ah Li?"
The father and mother pair stared at He Yang accusingly.
"Hey, not my fault. Little disciple here lost her memories when I found her." You should watch your children more closely!
Lan smushed Jia Li's face and looked into her eyes seriously. "Say 'mama'"
Jia Li looked at her Father for help. Dad, mom is being weird...wait is he blushing???
Xie Hong Hui opened up his arms. "What are you waiting for? Quit sticking to only Mama. Papa wants a hug too..."
Faced with looks of expectations everywhere, Jia Li has no choice but to go and give her father a hug.
Satisfied, Xie Hong Hui gave his daughter a few more tender pat on the head and carried her up gently. "Come, dinner is ready."
