When Dei woke up the next morning, she was alone in Richard's room. Her head was seriously aching but she still tried to get up from bed to look for Richard. She went out of the room and found Richard in the kitchen.
"Hi, I have brewed coffee for you. You can have your coffee first while I prepare our breakfast." Richard said. "Hangover your highness?" He then asked when he saw me massaging my temple.
"I guess so, have you seen my phone? I want to call Coleen. I was unable to tell her that I am in your place. I'm sure she is already worried that I did not come home last night." Dei said while she settles on the chair at the kitchen counter.
"No need to worry. I already called her last night. I told her that you were going through a tough time, and it will be safe that I just bring you in my place instead of letting you go somewhere that we are not certain if it is safe or not." Richard explained.
"Thanks for doing that." Dei still managed to reply despite her terrible headache.
"Here is your coffee your highness, drink it, that's good for the hangover." Richard said, "I am almost done with our breakfast."
"How did you do it?" Dei asked while sipping the black coffee.
"Do what, how to cook fried rice?" Richard kids which made Dei's eyebrow lifted. "You should be clear your highness, what exactly do you mean?" He asked chuckling.
"You are so chill as if nothing happened last night." Dei replied.
"What happen last night?" Richard asked in reply.
"Richard, I want to talk about what happened last night. Let me explain please." Dei said.
"No need to explain, your highness. Don't worry about me. I am perfectly fine." Richard said.
"But I hurt you." Dei said.
"You always do, so nothing new." Richard replied, smiling. "Didn't I tell you last night? All I want is to take care of you and make sure that you will always be happy." He added still beaming while putting on the food on the kitchen counter.
"We kissed." Dei said.
"Yes we did, and you pull back." Richard said.
"I'm sorry, I just felt I'll be cheating on Dwayne." Dei explained.
"And I don't want you to feel that way, so I understand." Richard uttered.
"You're still my best friend right?" Dei asked.
"Of course, I'll be upset if we end our friendship just because we kissed last night. That is the only thing I have of you, and I will do everything not to loose it. So eat now because I have to bring you home." He replied.
"Thank you Richard. Thank you for understanding and that means a lot to me." Dei said. "Why don't we just scout for a potential girlfriend of yours?"
"Forget that. It will just be a waste of time. Besides, I know it will come, no need to find it." Richard said smiling.
"When will it be then?" Dei asked.
"Probably once I fall out of love with you." Richard replied.
"Richard, you are not making this easy for me!" She exclaimed.
"Just let me be. I'm fine, trust me. Go ahead and eat I promise Coleen to bring you home this morning." Richard said.
The communication between Dei and Richard went back to normal. She even got the chance to introduce Dwayne to Richard. For the later that was the most awkward introduction in his entire life.
Even Dei and Richard's little misunderstanding were fixed. Things were not as open as before because of Dwayne's presence. Richard felt Dwayne was never been comfortable with him, and he actually feels the same way. But for Dei's sake, he still invited them to his graduation rites and celebration but Dei was the only one who attended it.
When Richard started working on their family business they were unable to communicate as often as they want and it gives Dei and Dwayne more time to be together.
One day, Richard received a cryptic message from Dei "I should have been more careful." It says. He senses that something wrong was happening to Dei. He texted her back to ask where she is, but she did not reply. He immediately rushes to their school from his office to check on her and he was right on where he could find her.
At the rooftop, he saw Dei, head's down and he was sure she was crying. He immediately comes near her and anxiously asked "What happened? Why are you crying?"
Instead of answering him, Dei just burst more into tears, Richard tried to pacify her but she never stops crying, all he did was to hug her and make her feel there is a shoulder for her to cry on. "Shhh ... everything will be fine. Go ahead, just for now I will let you cry it all out. But after this you are unallowed to shed even a single tear for whatever is this." He told her.
Dei only stops crying when she gets tired of it. "How did you know that I was here?" She asked.
"You send me a text message that I could not understand. I asked you where you are, but you did not reply so I run here to check on you." Richard explained. "What's the problem?" He asked.
"I want to tell you something, but you have to promise me that you will not judge me." Dei said.
"You are scaring me. Tell me what is going on, I am here to listen. I promise to have an open mind, and I will not judge you. Now tell me what it is?" Richard replied.
"I'm pregnant." Dei declared.
"But we only kissed!" Richard said.
"Shut up Richard, this, not the time for a joke. I am pregnant and Dwayne is the father." Dei exclaimed.
"What's wrong with that?" Richard calmly asked.
"Everything, I am worrying on how my family will take this. Something bad might happen to my Mama. She is sick. Also, my father would be very disappointed, and he is at his worst when he is angry. How can I tell them I am such a disappointment?" Dei said while tears again streamed down to her cheeks which triggers Richard's to hug her tighter.
"Have you told Coleen about this?" He asked. "Not yet." She replied.
"Coleen will kill me. I promised her that I would take care of you." Richard said while still hugging Dei.
"Have you told him?" He asked.
"How will I do that? He is set to leave within two weeks? Dei replied.
"You still have to tell him. You can't bear that alone." Richard insisted.
"You did not see how excited he was when he told me that finally their migration is pushing through. Dwayne was so happy, and he even started building his dreams for himself and for the two of us." Dei said.
"He told me that I needed to make sure that I will graduate on time so that it will be easier for to go in California. He wants us to build our family there. Can you imagine? I haven't seen him talked about his plans for the future, and he includes me in that plan. I told you, he is serious about me." Dei added, smiling. "Tell me, how can I crash those dreams?" She asked.
"Those are just dreams, now is the reality. You are pregnant, that's the real thing." Richard said. "You have to tell him you are pregnant." He declared.
"I don't want to confuse him. Besides, this is my fault. I should have not attended that party. I should have not allowed them to bully me and insisted to take some alcohol." Dei said. "I should have been more careful." She added.
"I disagree. Dwayne should have been the one who should be more careful." Richard firmly said.
"I know. But I prefer not telling him now. I will wait for him to leave for California. I promise, I will immediately tell him on the first day he communicates with me." Dei said.
"What? He has to be responsible on this too, why not tell him now?" Richard confusedly asked
"Please Richard. I need your support now more than ever." Dei requested. Though Richard disagrees on Dei's decision he decided to just give his support on his. "When are we telling Coleen?" Richard asked.
"She will get mad." Dei said.
"Definitely, but I will go with you when you tell her." Richard replied.
Dei looked at Richard straight in the eyes and said "Thank you your highness, I owe this to you big time."
"I can never say no to you, that's how much I love you." Richard seriously said.
Dei just hugged him tight "Why can't it be you." Dei said to herself.
