Jake had been running for quite a while in these jungle-like surroundings. While most people would worry about the monster chasing them, Jake was thinking about how much he would like to analyze the trees surrounding him. Not only were they odd, but they seemed to project a sort of energy he had never seen before.
A roar is heard once again off in the distance. The monster was getting closer.
Jake listened to its roar with a curiosity that was out of place. He tried to understand what kind of creature it was just from it obnoxious screech, but as of yet, he had yet to ascertain what species it was or if it was a living thing at all.
As he heard its snort even closer than before, Jake reflected that now was a good a time as any to have flashbacks before he died a horrible death.
Jake ran as fast as possible away from the noise while remembering his life on the techno-world. He remembered the house that he was assigned when he was synthesized in a pod, the first time he had done a science experiment, and most of all, he remembers the girl that he tried to build up the courage to ask out for years.
Jake wondered what Tuja was doing right now.
The Jungle began to thicken as Jake seemed to run further and further into the heart of the jungle.
Jake heard the sound of the roar once again, even closer than last time, and listened to the rumble of the creature's gigantic footsteps.

Talsia, the compound Calvis made for her.
Talsia was left mostly alone after she was taken from her homeworld by Calvis. After her planet blew up, she had become somewhat manic, she had lost her thread of reasoning, but after staying in such a serene, relaxing environment for an extended period, she had made peace with what had happened.
Calvis had come to see her a few times to keep her company and a few times to satisfy his physical needs but had remained distant for the most part.
While Talsia loved everything about Calvis, she was also afraid of his power. She had seen Calvis either in his palace or in his gardens almost every day. She watched him meditate and collect energy around him.
Then something happened to Calvis. He had become more distant from her and no longer came to visit, and his aura became much more chaotic. Then she saw his wings. They made her shudder as they appeared on his back. The energy contained in them was the same energy he had used to destroy her planet, but she wouldn't question him about it.
As Calvis disappeared from the pocket dimension, she met with troops she had never seen before preparing for war. As the soldiers left through a portal, Talsia sat in the building Calvis created for her. He designed it like a giant library where she could enjoy reading books. Hours passed by before she teleported into the jungle. She teleported in front of a humanoid that looked like her master's race.

Jake, in the jungle running away from a monster
Jake heard the monster closing in but was surprised by sight in front of him. It seemed a Nafrite girl had come out of nowhere appearing in front of him. She was dressed in a skin-tight combat suit but looked just as confused as he did.
Without stopping to question what just happened, Jake took her hand and pulled her into a sprint away from the creature still approaching.
They both ran as fast as they could through the brambles. The dense forest seemed to slow the beast after them. Jake heard the roar, the monster made, further off than before, and so he knew that they were gaining distance, but to be sure he quickly found a place to hide. Finding a decently sized tree, he used an all-purpose tool that had been developed by the Xuhans to help them build structures.
Jake quickly dug out the dirt underneath a tree, making a temporary shelter that he dragged the Nafrite girl. Jake just hoped that the creature's powers to perceive smell were not very good; otherwise, they were most likely dead.
Just as they got into their temporary shelter, Jake asked the Girl, "Who are you?"
