Chapitre 123: Maybe, Eddie dear was trying to frame someone
"...she had accidentally sprained her ankle and thus the attendant got busy with her."
Daniel and Amy heard these words when they exited the private elevator.
"Sprained her ankle?" Daniel sounded suspicious.
"If that's the case, why didn't she call me?" Amy breathed.
"Highly suspicious", he spoke as they slowly and silently made their way to the backstage.
"Daniel, you shouldn't have come. People will talk about why the Boss arrived himself..."
That's why we are different", Daniel interrupted her, "We care about people whoever it is."
"Mm."
Soon, they entered the backstage and saw Jake down there. Daniel approached him, "Hey buddy!"
"Hey!" Jake smiled faintly, "I guess you came by, for Alice."
"Yeah", Daniel ran his hand through his hair, "Maybe."
"We didn't know that she was here."
...
"So, let's start with a CCTV footage", Eddie spoke up firmly and turned her back to the crowd. Then, she pressed a button on a tiny remote control that she held in her hand.
Hearing the words 'CCTV footage', Millie tensed up. But, she calmed down immediately. Huh! She had already checked for the security cameras before sneaking in. Maybe, Eddie dear was trying to frame someone.
But the next moment...
The screen was black for a while when the creaking of a door was heard in the background. Soon, a light came on a and shadowy figure was seen. Eddie paused the button while Millie had a hard time breathing.
How did all this happen? Where did she go wrong?
"So, as you see the date and time stamp mentioned, it was a day before I was accused", Eddie spoke, "Someone broke into my office and dared to steal my designs."
"Guess who might be this certain someone?" Eddie raised an amused brow, "But I think that the guessing game is quite boring, right?"
The crowd immediately hushed down as she continued with her game of cat and mouse, "Alright, I will let the footage play."
There now, they saw the intruder look around before she pulled out her mask. And Eddie pressed the pause button again.
Gasp! Gasp!
Every eye turned to look at Millie whose facade was already unbearable. Her pitiful and fearful face made all tongues wagging.
"Isn't she a newbie?"
"I heard that she was a criminal."
"Yeah, I heard that too. That she was released from prison a few months back."
"Who knows if she is a burglar?"
Millie found it hard to breathe but managed to stammer as she pointed to Eddie, "You...you framed me!"
Eddie sneered as she let it play again. Everyone saw Millie open the cupboard and pull out a stack of colorful files. As she rummaged across, Eddie let it play in slow motion and for convenience, enlarged it.
"As you can see, those are my designs there. Well, if you think that this is still not enough. I have more surprises for you all!"
The hall full of the brand's fans, anti-fans and reporters erupted in loud whispers. On the other hand, Millie was shaking with fear and fury at the same time.
