Chapitre 5: Chapter Five: Evelyn's Named Monster

After the guests had left, two weeks flew by. With a recent level up of the system, her daily DP concession had doubled. From 10 to 20 and, though only an increase of 1, the visitors' DP reward was now 6 per person. It happened the morning after the adventurers had left. Her now standing DP count is 345 after the week had gone by. Evelyn had started saving for a day like today. At first, she wanted to increase her overall monster count. Looking into things a bit further she found having one strong monster to invest in was the best overall. If she were to invest her DP into many monsters overall they would be strong, but individually they would be weak. She had thoroughly scanned the whole list of monsters purchasable from the system's shop. For her first monster, she needed a more versatile monster. She wanted it to be able to take on many different roles. From being a vanguard to being able to fight and support in the rearguard. The only ones capable of that were humanoid monsters. Goblins is a poor man's choice and a dragon being able to polymorph into a human was too nouveau-riche for the poor Evelyn.

Spending countless waking hours of studying to better understand which is the best fit for her, she finally came to a conclusion; she needed to summon a doll. An inorganic human-like creature that could move autonomously. Though rigid in performance, she found out that she could have a soul or spirit possess it to gain sentience. Being inorganic meant it could be more flexible than a living monster would be. A doll costs 50DP, along with the ability to customize would inflate its cost to 75. Every monster is able to be customized but this option belongs in a separate category from bestowing monster abilities. The things available to change or alter are different from monster to monster. From increasing its attributes to changing its appearance is just a few of the customizable functions. The cost to enter the customization of the monster is usually an added 50% of its total DP cost; however, in the eyes of Evelyn, it is worth it. Evelyn could freely choose what materials will be used to construct the doll, provided that Evelyn had the said material. With the option of the ability to use magic, she needed around 2 kilograms of mithril. Alongside that with a tough body, to be able to fight in the vanguard position, she needed about 40 kilograms of iron. Each gram of mithril costs about 50DP and each kilogram of iron costs 1DP as well. Using it, the system will fuse them together to form an alloy that has some mana conductivity as well as having the tough aspect of steel.

One of the more core components for the doll also relied on its capacity of a magic crystal. The ability to cast magic heavily depended on it. A decent magic crystal costs the same as a doll, at 50DP. Though it is ranked near the bottom, it is a decent one for now. The total end price came totaling at 265DP and that is the cost without adding anything else extra for its abilities. With all the DP she is planning to sink into her "first" monster, she is glad no other adventurers have come forth yet. If they had entered, she probably would have spent some DP for some security.

After her planning, today is going to be the day in which she puts her plan into fruition. Initiating the system's shop system, Evelyn skims her way through the interface. Tapping her fingers multiple times and coming up upon the doll monster customization. Going through the motions, she finalizes her the concept of the doll's design. A cute young girl, around 11 to 12 years of age with lustrous golden blonde hair. Crystal clear azure eyes that lighten and brings life into the doll's image. The little girl stands at around 142 cm or around 4'8". Later on, Evelyn will buy and design her a certain light blue dress. Evelyn modeled her to a certain character in a very well known literature novel. She figured she could surprise those that come into the dungeon with her small stature. A flash of light and when it started to dim, she finds the naked doll standing before her. She would look just like a normal girl, however wherever her body could bend or contort, you could see she is made of different parts. Her empty and dull eyes stare straight at her. Using another 30 DP to fashion the doll a set of undergarments and her specified clothes, the doll was finally complete.

"I'll call you Alice." Evelyn shows a rare smile. A ding sounds out and then a voice speaks to her.

"Would you like to register this monster among your personal monsters?"

"Yes."

Undeterred from the sudden announcement, Evelyn calmly gives her answer. She had already known in advance of this feature. After all, with her being part of her personal roster of monster she could spend DP to basically revive them back. Another ding and then a screen showing Alice's attributes materialize in front of Evelyn.

Alice, now wearing her dress, had almost ten times the amount of HP that Evelyn had. All her stats, except for her luck, were close to three to five times her own attributes. To top it all off, she now had a companion to spend her days with. She enjoys her solitude, but even now and then she would like some company.

"I should save some DP for myself as well."

Evelyn could not just rely solely on her creations. She too wants to develop her own abilities. With her daily practices of wielding her magic, she can safely assume she can help out Alice in the back while Alice fought in the front. Any future DP she earns, she is going to deposit it into her own attributes, more precisely her magic and mp. Seeing her attributes, she concluded a while back that she is more of a magician than anything else.

In the future, she wishes to impose a certain oath onto herself; a bottom line for herself and the many people that would arrive here. Dungeons were designed to target human avarice and prey upon it. The deaths and life force of those who cross the dungeon threshold would become its meal. However, Evelyn did not want that; she hopes to prevent it. The dungeons still seem to grow even without feeding on the corpses of the dungeons, albeit at a much more slower pace. However, she wants more quantity than quality. With more and more people entering it is possible to earn a huge amount of DP. Not only that she wishes to earn goodwill from those that would venture here. That, in turn, would invite and attract even more. Whatever the results would become, one can only predict what could happen. She stands there, alongside Alice, looking up towards the night sky. She patiently waits for the coming of tomorrow.
