Chapitre 2: Chapter 1

The gentle breeze rustled through the leaves, as if whispering secrets carried on the currents of the air. Amelia stood at the edge of the town square, listening intently to the chatter around her. The rhythmic hum of daily life – the clatter of shopkeepers arranging their wares, the laughter of children playing, the distant rumble of a passing car – all blended into a familiar symphony. Yet, beneath the ordinary, Amelia sensed an undercurrent of something more.

At 22 years old, Amelia had grown up in this small, rural town, its quaint streets and tightly-knit community once a source of comfort. But lately, a growing restlessness had crept into her soul, a yearning for something beyond the predictable routines and well-trodden paths. There had to be more to life than this, she often found herself thinking, eyes drifting towards the tree-lined horizon that hinted at the possibilities that lay beyond. Today, the whispers of the town carried a different sort of intrigue. Amelia couldn't help but overhear the hushed conversations, fragments of gossip that piqued her curiosity. "...they say he's the owner of a hidden kingdom, searching for a woman to love..." someone said. "I heard that if you go to the river, if you are lucky, you can catch a glimpse of the enchanted man..." the other one gushed. "My cousin's friend's sister swears she saw him there, sitting by the water's edge, waiting..." but none believes on what she said, the ladies chatting around just laughed. Amelia's interest was piqued. "A hidden kingdom? An enchanted man? I remembered, grandma told me about this before, she also took me to that river so many times, but there's no such kind of enchanted man," she sighed. When she was a kid, when her grandmother telling her about that, It sounded like the stuff of fairy tales, a far cry from the mundane reality of everyone's everyday life. The more she listened to her grandmother, the more she take on a strange, almost tangible quality, until she grown up, but since her grandmother died, she just keep it as her grandmother's tale. As the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows across the town square, Amelia found herself drawn to the whispers. "It's really exist?" She imagined what it would be like to venture beyond the familiar boundaries of her world, to discover the secrets that seemed to linger in the air. Perhaps her grandmother's tale about that handsome enchanted man held the key to the adventure and wonder she craved. Amelia's mind raced as she made her way home, her steps quickening with determination. She knew she had to see this river again after a long years, for herself, to uncover the truth behind the tantalizing rumors. If there was even a chance that something extraordinary awaited her, she couldn't help but be intrigued. "Grandmother never saw that enchanted man even once in her life,"

That night, as Amelia lay in bed, the images of the river and the mysterious man danced through her thoughts, refusing to be extinguished. She tossed and turned, her curiosity building with each passing minute. She remembered what her grandma told her before she died.. "Amelia, once you grown up, try your luck, your world will be change," her grandmother whispered. Finally, with a deep breath, she made up her mind. "I will try my luck," Tomorrow, she would go in search of the enchanted man by the river. The next morning, Amelia awoke with a renewed sense of purpose. She hurriedly packed a small backpack, filling it with supplies and a map she had found of the nearby trails. As she stepped out the door, she couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of guilt for leaving her responsibilities behind, like helping her mother for house chores. Even if just for a day. But the lure of the unknown was too strong to ignore. She saw her mother, cooking for breakfast. She quietly stepped into the door. Her mother will not allow her to go there once she ask her permission. "Don't worry mom, I'll be back before midnight," she whispered to herself. Amelia set out on the winding path, her heart racing with anticipation. The further she ventured from the town, the more the landscape transformed. The well-worn streets gave way to a dense forest, the canopy of trees overhead casting a verdant glow over the ground below. Birdsong echoed through the branches, and the air carried the earthy scent of moss and damp soil. "I remember this place, my grandma took me here a couple of times before when I was a kid." she murmured. After what felt like an eternity of hiking, it's been hours when Amelia finally caught a glimpse of the river through the trees. But on her great surprised, she is not alone. There's also a lot of young women wandering around. "They also intrigued huh," she mumbled. Her pace quickened, and as she rounded a bend, the full splendor of the scene unfolded before her. The water flowed gently, its surface shimmering in the dappled sunlight. Tall, willowy trees lined the banks, their trailing branches dipping into the cool currents. Amelia paused, taking in the serene beauty of the secluded river. She remembered the last time she was there with her grandmother, she is 8 years old then. Her gaze scanned the area, just like her grandmother, searching for any sign of the mysterious "enchanted man" that was rumored to reside here.

As she neared the hidden oasis, the sound of laughter and chattering voices reached her ears. Peering through the dense foliage, Amelia spotted a group of women gathered by the river's edge, their faces alight with excitement. They seemed to be waiting, their gazes fixed on the tranquil waters before them.

Amelia paused, her eyes scanning the scene. Despite the women's presence, the river remained undisturbed, its surface unbroken by any sign of the rumored enchanted man. Curiosity getting the better of her, Amelia inched closer, careful to keep her movements quiet.

The women chattered excitedly, sharing stories and speculation about the mysterious figure they had all come to see. Amelia listened intently, piecing together the fragments of information they provided. "Apparently, the enchanted man was said to appear by the river, offering a glimpse of his otherworldly charm to those who dared to wait.' one of the women said, with excitement on her face.
