The ride back to my dorm was rather a quiet one. None of us seemed to find the right thing to say so we just sat silent while the radio kept playing top ten numbers for the week. Once we reached, I opened up my door and walked toward the front doors when Alden called my name. I turned around to see him jogging towards me. He stood within the touching distance, I could see him contemplating with his words.
"what?"
"I...I..." his hesitation made me raise one of my eyebrows in question.
"Let's meet up tomorrow after school to complete the assignment"
Ah...the assignment, I almost thought he'd be confessing his die hard feelings for me. There is nothing to confess so shut up. Just saying.
Ignoring my so-called inner voice who was ready to make mistakes, I gave Alden a small smile.
"Sure, but this time let's meet in the library Richards". Now it was his turn to raise the eyebrows.
"Ah...we're back to Richards. So much for forming a bond"
"Don't be silly Richards, you and I both know there's no bond to be formed. We're just stuck in this assignment and the sooner we complete it, the better"
"sure, whatever you say Angel...see you tomorrow" he gave me a small smile and went back to his car leaving me a bit guilty.
When you live in a dorm there's nothing much you can do except read or hear your roommate bickering about the parties she's been to. Oh yeah... I recently got a brand-new roommate who loves and claims to be the life of the parties. Hence, meet my room mate Rae cooper.
"you should come to this party at Shawn's house this weekend. You'll love it...he invited me of course and I can take anyone with me so I'm choosing you so be ready on the Saturday we're going to have so much fun" she spoke with such enthusiasm that I felt a bit guilty but well parties are not for me.
"Rae, I appreciate your offer but parties are really not my thing" I look at her apologetically while she gapes at me.
"are you kidding me? Parties at college is one thing that people look forwards to since they start their puberty"
"not everyone Rae...not everyone" I wince while recalling my last experience at a party in high school. Yeah totally not worth it.
"you know... Alden will be there too" She seems to catch me by surprise which I conceal as fast as I can but probably not before she catches it and smirks triumphantly.
"So? I don't care who's going or who's not...I just don't wanna go so please let it go" I try to reason with her.
"OK...so, you don't care if Alden is going to be there with a date?"
Well that makes my chest hurt in a sharp pain but I hide it and smile "as I said...I don't care"
But apparently, she's not finished. "Well in that case you're going with me as a plus one because my boyfriend is also bringing his friend who's a quarterback by the way and handsome so you can't say no since everyone wants to meet my roommate"
"and why can't we meet somewhere else other than this party" I narrow my eyes at her.
"oh c'mon, free booze, food and DJ... girl, we're going"
"fine" I reply with resignation because in my short time with her I've realized that she doesn't give up easily and maybe that's why we clicked quickly.
