Huan Mao brought some expensive cherry wine to share as they ate their food. Xin Tuyong watched patiently as she poured most of it in his glass and only a little in her and Di Gaohun's glass.
It was already dark outside when they finished their dinner. Di Gaohun gave Xin Tuyong a red envelope as his gift, which Xin Tuyong did not expect but was grateful for.
Huan Mao prepared the whole day for him, so he didn't expect anything else from her. They cleaned up the kitchen and were leaving each other, but as Di Gaohun left Xin Tuyong with a firm pat on the shoulder, Huan Mao followed him to his room.
Xin Tuyong was tipsy again from the alcohol and didn't have the energy to fight her as he laid in his bed.
She had been sitting at the foot of the bed as he washed up, but now that his eyes were closed, she came closer to him.
"For your last gift-" Xin Tuyong opened one eye to look at her. "Ay! Keep your eyes closed." She covered his eyes with her hands as she leaned in and continued, "Your last birthday gift... is a very good friend." [A/N: lol she friend-zoned herself for him]
Contrary to her words, she leaned in and pressed her lips against his. The alcohol had worn away his defenses as Xin Tuyong pulled her body onto his and returned the sentiment.
Her soft skin felt plush like the embodiment of a cloud. The scent of her hair was light and barely noticeable, but it still made him react.
Breathlessly, they parted for air. Xin Tuyong seemed to regain his control for a moment as he pulled her into a tight hug in his arms.
Her head leaned on his neck where her hidden pout went unseen through his suave block. His breathing was getting deeper and she could tell he was asleep.
With a devilish grin, she had an idea. Lightly biting into his pale neck, she left faint but noticeable bruises all down his neck and into his collar.
There was no way for him to hide it unless he wore a turtleneck, which he didn't seem to own.
It was served as a reminder for him of her, as well as a deterrent for competition. Di Gaohun would easily see that Xin Tuyong was taken.
She wouldn't allow anyone to take away her pet, not even her own blood.
His grip on her loosened, and she stole a kiss from him before settling next to him. It would be best for him to get the worst idea, and she rustled their clothes for the best effect.
He slept soundly through the night as the warm body next to him put him at ease. Huan Mao stroked his hair lightly as she too fell asleep.
The next morning, Xin Tuyong woke with a start. His stomach felt painfully acidic, giving him nausea. He sat up carefully and froze when he felt the person next to him.
His head throbbed as he lunged for the bathroom, throwing up last night's food and drinks.
While he was dry heaving over the toilet, a hand massaged his back comfortingly.
"Hey, you're okay... you're okay," she sweetly said. Eventually he stopped throwing up and his whole body sagged against the toilet.
"Here, rinse out your mouth and I'll get you some water." She handed him a cup of sink water and left as he swished it and cleaned the awful taste from his mouth.
"What was in that drink?" he asked without making eye contact.
