Chapitre 6: Hidden Players
While Dune and his group were in enemy territory, the king had called a secret meeting between his council and himself. The king as a warrior himself, could see how great Dune was for his army but understood that miracles don't last forever. After his meeting with Dune in the hospital, he tasked his generals to search his domain for any men, women or children that was already inhabited by a god.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I've asked you all here to discuss your findings." King Cheai said
The room contained 3 of his high generals and 10 of his ministers lording over different sectors of the country.
"Who would like to start?" The king asked
"I will, your grace." said woman in the back. That woman was Rako, one of the high generals and leader of Dark Rose. "During one of my girls' training sessions, an archer named Staci showed signs when she completely destroyed a target."
"What kind of target was it?" a minister asked
"The target was 6 inches but she made the shoot from over 200 hundred meters." Rako replied
Her words caused a debate in the room because the longest recorded shot on target was 130 meters and it barely stuck.
"That's good work Rako." the king said in a pleased voice "Anyone else?"
"Sir." said one of the ministers. The man was named Kano and he was the minister of the western port of Ogan. "Rumors started floating around Ogan as few days ago about a boy who seemed to be 'loved by the sea'." he said "I looked into it personally and for that the boy had increased abilities while close to or in water."
"Increased how?" the king asked
"While the boy was on a pier, he picked up a small rock and split a boulder off the shore." he explained
"I see."
"Also, he seemed to be able to swim as fast as a fish." he added
The boy was promising for amphibian missions or even naval combat but he would need training to be effective.
"Contact the boy and give him some training, see what you bring out of him." Ordered the king. "Next."
Everyone in the group looked around, looking for someone else to reveal their findings but no one had any information.
"Alright, Rako, loc take Staci and try to bring out her abilities also." the king said "Take her on the hell's trail."
"Yes your grace." they said in unison
The king whispered to his guard and then dismissed the meeting, leading the council through different doors.
"Rako, wait I need to speak to you." the king said
The room was now empty barring Rako, king Cheai and his guard.
"You're the daughter of one of the oldest noble families in this country, so I know I can trust you with this information." king Cheai said
"Sir?"
"My guard informed me during the meeting that my spies around the island had information, a lot of it." he explained "Turmon."
"My lord, ma'am, Spies in Cambria heard whispers of a weapon being hidden within their ranks." the guard said "High generals and nobles speak of it as a 'he' but nothing definitive has be stated."
"I've ordered the spies to wait for more information on the weapon." the king said
"In Signa, spies speak of military talks and forces being rerouted." the guard said "They suspect that Signa plans on attacking the winner of this war to seize control of the majority of the island."
"I'd like to be wrong but this is not a claim we should ignore. That's why I want you and the dark rose to take up a position to the north." the king said "A show of force should keep them at bay."
"It shall be done, sir." she said
The all female Dark rose was a powerful force that could keep the Signan army within their borders but wars twist and turn at the drop of a hat. One minute we could be winning and another we could be invaded with a small portion of our army left. Another player destroys all previous plans and could slow down the war leading us to fight during the winter. We in the capital cannot help those over the mountain, they have only their generals and instinct to pull them through.
