Chapitre 2: Birth of a Champion

Hello. My name is.... Well I don't think that's quite important at the moment.

What IS important though is that I'm pretty sure I'm dead, and I'm currently looking at a mystical looking alpaca. Surprisingly, I think I know who this alpaca is.

Let me rewind a bit so you'd understand why I think I'm dead, and why I'm pretty sure I know who's in front of me.

I WAS on a flight home from Las Vegas after winning the championship MMA title, and if there was one thing I was good at, it was beating the shit out of people.

Riding in one of the new private cabins that the first class flights had begun introducing though, I had been showing the exact opposite image of a MMA champion as I methodically pressed the buttons on my game system. On the system was the worldwide popular game, of Pokemon.

I had loved the franchise as a kid, with some of my first fights even being over the best starter, before falling off as I got older after the fourth generation. Recently however I had rediscovered my love for the Pokeverse when I learned that there was going to be a remake of the last games I played, Diamond and Pearl.

With the nostalgia hitting me like a truck, I broke down and bought a system, along with both games when they came out. And as I flew home from Vegas, in the privacy of my cabin, I had also become the 'Pokemon Champion' as I beat Cynthia and the Elite Four.

After running through the credits I had powered down the game and put it away, only for a knock at my cabin door to announce a trio of stewardesses who wanted my autograph. And oh boy did they get it, on their tits, asses, thighs, and anywhere else I could reach with a pen as I plowed them to oblivion and back.

After a few too many kicks to the balls back in the day I'd been declared infertile in Highschool, much to my mother's dismay, which led to a life of debauchery and indulgence when I wasn't beating the shit out of people in the ring. And so I gave a taste to each of the lovely stewardesses that came calling, including a lovely woman with a golden band on her ring finger.

Hey, not my fault the guy married a whore, but I did feel kind of bad for him after what happened next.

As I was balls deep in her the plane suddenly pitched into a complete nosedive, tossing us around the small cabin like a bunch of rag dolls until we came to a sudden abrupt halt, and a bright and burning light filled the cabin. That was why I didn't question the very real possibility that I was dead, and only really felt sorry for the stewardess' husband about how her body was going to be discovered.

Though if I had to list any regrets I had abut dying, the only real one I could think of was that I couldn't give my mother the grandchildren she wanted, even though she passed herself a few years ago.

As for me possibly knowing what, or rather who, the entity before me was, that was because of my recent stint back into the world of Pokemon.

As unbelievable as it sounded, I believe this celestial looking alpaca before me, is none other than Arceus, the literal God, capital G, of the Pokemon universe.

...

"You would be correct, though I wouldn't consider myself to be one of these 'alpaca' you're thinking about." Arceus said suddenly, or thought maybe, since I didn't see its mouth move.

"I see...." I replied slowly, though I wasn't sure how since I presumably didn't have a body, before asking, "So am I dead, or just in a coma and dreaming or something? Cause last I knew, Pokemon don't actually exist."

Arceus nodded as it replied,

"You have indeed passed, and I merely retrieved your soul before it could be recycled since it seemed useful." I paused at that as I considered what the alpaca meant by 'recycling', before deciding I didn't want to know as I asked him,

"And what do you mean by 'seeming useful'?"

Arceus was silent for a moment as he seemingly looked me over, before saying,

"I have detected that my world will experience a great era of turmoil in the coming decades, and have need of a 'champion' to help ensure the survival of it and its inhabitants."

My mind blanked at that as I tried to wrap my head around what the alpaca just said, before I asked, "And why me?"

This time Arceus tilted its head in confusion as it asked, "Are you not a 'champion' of your own people? As well as a 'champion' of Pokemon?"

"Pft!" I snorted, before bursting into laughter at the confused God that lasted for a few minutes, before saying with aching sides, "Only in a game! And I'm not a 'champion of my people', it's just a title I got because I was better at beating the the shit out of my opponents!"

Arceus was silent as it seemingly digested this, before finally saying,

"Merely semantics. All that matters is your skill in raising Pokemon, as well as your personal skill and drive. No matter how trivial, you still managed to attain the title of champion amongst your people. That alone is worth noting."

I was silent as I digested this, the humor from before gone as I seriously considered what the alpaca was asking.

"What should I expect?" After I asked that, Arceus began explaining,

"Simply try to intervene in the situations that may bring an end to my world." That took me aback as I confusedly asked,

"That's it? What if don't succeed?" I felt a slight chill go down my back as Arceus stated,

"Your success or failure will depend on your efforts, and should you fail then my world would possibly cease to exist. I would suggest you to try your best to succeed, seeing as that would also include yourself, your Pokemon, and any who you grow close to."

While what Arceus said could be considered by some to be a threat or strong-arming, I knew it was merely fact. Like a certain lord of stars said when asked why he wanted to save the galaxy, he was one of the idiots who lived in it.

As one of the inhabitants of Acreus' world, it would be in my own best interests to be able to solve whatever happened in order to ensure the continuation of my own life, as well as those around me. As I thought about this though, a question formed in my mind that I asked him,

"You don't seem concerned if your world ends or not?" Arceus nodded at my question as he explained,

"True, but such is the natural order of the cosmos. There is creation, as well as destruction that makes way for new creation. I am merely giving my world a chance at continued existence, but should it end, then I will simply create a new world with new life."

I fought back a groan at that as the truth of what Arceus was doing hit me. He didn't care if I succeeded or not, he was merely making a SLIGHT effort to ensure his world's survival. Wether it did or not mattered nothing to him.

I weighed the pros and cons of accepting what he wanted as the silence stretched on.

Judging by what he said earlier, if I refused, I would merely be 'recycled' like every other soul that died. I didn't know what it meant exactly, but presumably my ego would be erased and I would be reborn as a completely new slate.

On the other hand, I could do as he asks, and be reborn in a fantasy-like world that I dreamed of going to as a child. True, I could die as a result of my own failures to protect the world from what I'm assuming would be the legendary Pokemon rampaging or being provoked by idiots like Cyrus. But the idea also somewhat excited me.

I mean, I spent my entire life beating up people, maybe it would be exciting to go toe-to-toe with actual Pokemon as well!

"I accept." I declared after organizing my thoughts, to which Arceus nodded as he stated,

"As I expected. But do not worry, you will not be sent to my world unprepared. I will ensure you are born into a family with a strong aura bloodline."

I cocked my head in confusion at that, as I asked, "What's aura?"

Arceus explained to me patiently,

"Aura is an ability that occasionally occurs amongst the people of my world. Certain 'fighting' type Pokemon are known for using it, but it can appear amongst humans as well, along with psychic powers. It can be used to enhance and fortify your senses and body, create barrier-like projections, you would be able to empower your own Pokemon with it, and even use it as a form of communication."

I thought about the uses of aura as Arceus finished listing them, acknowledging that it did seem to be quite useful, but a part of me had wanted to try and get psychic abilities if I were to get anything. I can already beat up anyone who crosses me with my body, but being able to do so with my mind would be epic.

Arceus appeared to be reading my thoughts though, as it stated, "I am sorry to say that you are not compatible with psychic type abilities."

One thing to know about me is that I don't like being told that I can't do something. My inability to have kids aside, since it got me so much ass in my life, if someone tells me I can't do something it makes me all the more determined to prove them wrong.

Arceus must've sensed my irritation at his statement, as it stated with a touch of humor to its voice,

"If you believe in yourself so strongly, then try to acquire psychic powers on your own and prove me wrong, though I doubt I am. It would be an incredible asset alongside your aura in protecting my world."

"You know it you alpaca bastard! I'll definitely prove you wrong and be the best psychic on the damn planet!"

Apparently finding my defiance in the face of a literal God even more amusing, Arceus said to me,

"I look forward to it, amusing little human. Let's hope, I do not see you again too soon."

With our discussion apparently finished, I felt a sudden force on my body, or whatever I was, that sent me plummeting down from Arceus as I was presumably sent to be reincarnated. But as I plummeted, a new thought went through my head as I exclaimed,

"Wait a second! Am I going to have to go through puberty and shit all over again!?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-"

*In a little village nestled in a valley amongst some mountains*

"That's it, just one more push!" The doctors urged a women who was currently in labor, while the only man present who wasn't wearing the usual Doctor scrubs held her hand.

"Almost there honey." He urged her gently, even as she squeezed his hand harder than an Arbok, and let out a cry of pain.

Soon however, another cry respond to hers, as the wailing of a child echoed in the room, making everyone breathe a sigh of relief.

"It's a boy!" The doctor cried out as he held up the child for them to see, covered in fluids and with a small tuft of black hair on his head.

"It's a boy honey." The man said to his wife lovingly, kissing her on the forehead as he did so. The women also smiled in relief, but before she could celebrate the birth of her son, another stab of pain surge through her, and she cried out once again.

"Wait! There another head!" One of the nurses cried out, shocking everyone back into their previous alert state as another nurse quickly took the baby that had already been born to wipe him down.

"One more push!" The man declared as his hand was subjected to his wife's deadly grip once again, to which she responded by screaming her pain for everyone to hear alongside their son's before yet another cry responded as the second baby was born.

"Another boy!" The doctor exclaimed, before that baby too was taken to be cleaned.

And finally, the couple were given their two baby boys.

"Have you thought of any names?" One of the nurses asked, to which the mother shot a tired look at the father, who was silent for a moment as he studied his two sons. As he contemplated though, he saw his eldest open his eyes just briefly, showing a brilliant amber color to them along with an intelligence that one wouldn't expect from a newborn.

"Ace, and Ash." He finally said, before passing them both to their mother, Delia, who pondered on the names her husband had chosen.

"Ace and Ash Ketchum... I like it." She said softly, as Ace slowly closed his eyes and fell asleep.
