Chapitre 39: Making Trouble In A Saint's City

Shura followed the trail of the Saint who took away the book. He flew through a vast distance until he finally saw his destination. On the edge of the horizon between the blue sky and the brown earth was a dark line without limit. This line gained dimension the closer Shura came. Soon he was close enough to see what it was. It was a city in the style of mortals, but it was very large. There weren't any magnificent or stylish buildings or floating landmasses at all. The buildings were very plain and normal, none had heights that reached the sky. Although the buildings were plain, they all gave off an indescribable aura of sacredness.

This city was so vast that Shura could not see its end at all. The trail of the Saint ended in this enormous city.

Enabled and emboldened by his newfound strength, Shura shouted fearlessly: "The one who took my book, I am here to take it back!"

Shura's voice was magnified by his cultivation and spread to every corner of this city that stretched further than the horizon itself.

Shura was very eager to try out his new strength. It was normal for him to be able to fight opponents who had higher cultivation than him. This fact would not change now that he had stepped into a brand new level. He was curious about how strong of an opponent he could fight with his newly acquired strength.

Shura's voice alerted countless cultivators. The number of Saints who heard him could not be counted on two hands. This simple yet elegant city was one of the three biggest places for Saints to congregate in the land.

Some wondered if the newcomer was courting death, others wondered what book Shura was talking about. Then there were those who guessed that the book could not be any other book than 'that' book. They could never have imagined that it was right under their noses here and were waiting to watch a good show.

Many Saints flew into the sky throughout the city. They were watching Shura and the show that was about to unfold.

None of the Saints that flew up was the Saint that took his book. The trail of that Saint led to one particularly spacious and large mansion within the city. No one had come out of it to check out the ruckus at all.

"I will say it one more time, give me back the book. This is my last warning."

The book itself meant little to Shura. His transformation had changed him once again. He had a feeling that he didn't need the book at all. When it was time for the next step of his cultivation, he would simply step forward and a path would appear in front of him, that path was a path to a new world, both figuratively and literally.

And as far as the how-to regarding relaxation, he had already read the whole thing and memorized it, so there was no point in getting the book back. Shura never connected the content of his book to whatever secret the book was rumored to have because he never believed that the content of the book had any secret within it. Perhaps there really was a way to become an immortal, but it wasn't in the content of the book, but the book itself.

He wasn't here for the book, so it was fine if the Saint didn't give it back. He was here to return the favor, he was here to stir up trouble. He wouldn't take bullying lying down. He had had enough of it.

Even now he could remember clearly the mental anguish he had endured trying to come up with a way to negotiate and deal with Saints. That fruitless endeavor eventually failed. He wasn't going to feel like that ever again. Power, unlimited and unconstrained power, he will obtain it. Power will allow him to resist oppression by others. Power will allow him to be relaxed and free of concerns.

Shura turned to look at the Saints who was watching him. He then pointed down at that large mansion and said: "The Saint in that mansion took the book with the secret to immortality."

He didn't need to act himself. As long as all these selfish and greedy Saints knew of the book's existence, then they would pounce on its owner like rabid dogs.

As Shura waited for someone to make a move he looked inwardly at himself. Even though he had just become a Saint all of a sudden, he could feel his cultivation continuing automatically. This was very different than in the past. In the past when he cultivated while doing something else, he would have to split his focus between cultivation and the other activity. Now even if he didn't focus on cultivating at all, his body would do it automatically. And the rate at which is cultivation and energy was rising and being refined was alarming.

Shura could feel that progress would not take decades, years, or even months. A few days worth and he would take a step forward, and after a dozen days or so he would be at the peak of the Saint level.

"You, do you want to die? What are you doing here messing with the Milean family, one of the top seven ancient families of Saints? You're tired of your life, kid!"

One of the Saints in the air said as he pointed at Shura.

"That's quite the mouthful. So what you're saying is none of you dare because this Milean family is strong?"

All the Saints were quiet, but their expressions told Shura that what he said was right. Although they might want the book, if it was in the hand of someone truly over and above their heads, they wouldn't bother. It was just like what Shura had gone through earlier. It was just that this Milean family and all these Saints weren't that strong in Shura's eyes now. His journey wouldn't stop here. If he was awed and feared just this much, what could he amount to in the future?

A handsome man clad in purple fine silk flew up from the Milean family's large estate. He was accompanied by two beauties on both sides who wore exquisite white robes.

"My uncle said that he had shown mercy and spared your pathetic life earlier, you should know gratitude and not come to disturb us. I shall teach you some manners in my uncle's place," the handsome man said arrogantly.

Shura smiled. It was a brilliant smile. He made a provocative gesture with his fingers and waited for the man to make his move. This was the perfect opportunity to cause trouble, Shura would be a fool to not take it.

The handsome man made his move and disappeared from the sky. Shura saw him moving towards him. A sword had appeared in the handsome man's hand out of nowhere. The sword was pointing at Shura's chest as the man moved at an incredibly quick speed.

Shura saw all of this. The man's movement was becoming slower and slower when Shura began to focus on him. This wasn't because he was moving slower. It was because Shura's senses were becoming better every fraction of a moment. This was the result of his body cultivating by itself in the background.

His earlier estimates were bogus. It wouldn't take days. A single day was enough for him to reach the peak of the Saint level.

Shura did not make any attempt to defend himself. The sword tore through his shabby clothes but stopped as soon as it almost touched his skin.

The handsome man exerted more force but his sword could not travel forward at all. An immovable and invisible force was preventing his sword from touching Shura. All of this happened naturally. Shura did not do anything.

"My turn," Shura said as he threw a punch that hit the handsome man right in the face.

The Young Lord Fabre of the Milean Family felt like a mountain had just hit him. He felt his body going out of control. The Young Lord Fabre instantly plummeted down and made a crater in one of the streets of the city.

"You're no match for me, pretty boy. Go cultivate more and spend less time being drained by women," Shura said and laughed.

"Bastard!" Fabre roared. His face was bloody and bruised and his clothes were tattered. He was really angry. He had never been humiliated in front of so many people like this. All of his life he had been elegant, charming and talented. He had never encountered any mishap or trouble that he couldn't solve at all. He was the most talented in the current generation of the family and he was going to become the next Family Head one day in the future.

"It's true. Didn't they teach you this? A man loses his drive and energy by indulging in the pleasures of the flesh. What can such a man accomplish? And you say your family is one the so-called Seven Ancient Families? None of you are anything much. I'm still waiting for an old Quasi-Immortal who is about to die to come out and prove me wrong."

What had been a mere whim had now escalated further. Shura was here purely to stir up trouble and make someone's day bad. Since his cultivation was going to increase naturally, he had nothing significant to do. This was a good opportunity to let off some steam and let these privileged and above-the-mass people learn a thing or two. He had been oppressed, and now it was his turn to do the oppressing.

The Young Master Fabre was a Second Layer Saint. Shura had just dealt with a Second Layer Saint without trouble. His current position in the hierarchy of the Saint level was nebulous, but his cultivation was increasing at a tremendous pace every second. He couldn't be weaker than a Second Layer. He should be able to fight against Third Layer and even a Peak Saint.

Beyond the level of a Peak Saint was a Quasi-Immortal. Those who were infinitely close to having one foot through the door of immortality. Most people of this level were waiting for their deaths without being able to make a breakthrough to become real Immortals. Of course, they weren't immortal and they were at most slightly stronger than Peak Saint. It was impossible to become an Immortal. It had been so for a long time. This was why all the Saints were clamoring about a book that was rumored to hold the secret to prying open the door of immortality.
