Chapitre 275: 268. Taking Over Lu Bu's Army

Seeing the body of their Lord and her Father, Lu Lingqi alongside Lu Bu's general immediately surrounds the stretcher and sees the smile on Lu Bu's face like he is finally at peace, Lu Lingqi begins to cry out loudly while the rest of Lu Bu's general was also in tears especially Zhang Liao and Gao Shun, Lu Lingqi who feels like her whole world have collapsed upon her after touching Lu Bu's hand then fainted causing panic among Lu Bu's generals.
Zhang Liao and Gao Shun who were the closest to her immediately supported Lu Lingqi, and coincidentally Chen Gong alongside Lady Yan and Lady Yan's elite guard arrived at the location due to the sudden change of Lu Bu's army formation they changed their location.
Chen Gong and Lady Yan seeing Lu Bu's body and Lu Lingqi who fainted thought that the worst-case scenario had happened, which was Lu Bu's death followed by Lu Lingqi's death.
Lady Yan immediately forward with tears on her face, she felt her leg weaken and fall down as she didn't have the energy to support her body while crying she held Lu Lingqi's hand and Lu Bu's hand in I e of her hands together.
Lady Yan was crying while Chen Gong asked for more information about what had just happened of course to Zhang Liao and Gao Shun, while he ignored Lie Fan and his party that was standing in front of him, not too far from his position around 10 to 15 steps.
Zhang Liao and Gao Shun elaborate on what happened to Chen Gong, hearing that Lu Lingwi just fainted due to the shock of seeing her Father's dead body, he heaves a sigh of relief, and Lady Yan who was near the three of them hearing this was relieved.
Lie Fan who was ignored by the arriving Chen Gong and Lady Yan, let out a gentle cough to remind them of his presence. Chen Gong and Lady Yan hearing the cough turned their head toward the sound and then saw Lie Fan who was standing there alongside his retainers.
Chen Gong and Lady Yan were surprised and then realized that Lie Fan was there as they thought that Lie Fan just escorted Lu Bu's body and then returned to his army.
They didn't see Lie Fan and his group there due to they were too focused on Lu Bu's body and Lu Lingqi who fainted, also they thought that Lie Fan already left the area.
Chen Gong: "Lord Lie Fan?! I'm sorry I didn't see you there, I would like to thank you for escorting Lord Lu Bu's body to us safely."
Lady Yan: "I also would like to thank you, Lord Lie Fan. Let me introduce myself I'm Lady Yan, Lu Bu's wife, thank you for bringing his body back to us intact."
Lie Fan: "Master Chen Gong and Lady Yan it's what I should do, Lu Bu has requested for me to take care of his family so preserving his body is me honoring my words, and before you ask I don't know why Lu Bu requested that to me."
Lady Yan: "I'm sure that My Husband has his own reason as to why he picked Lord Lie Fan, I'm just not sure now as to what should we do, and since I had never involved myself in all of my Husband matters, I think it's more right for Master Chen Gong to divide next."
Chen Gong: "Thank You My Lady for your trust, I can't be sure that the next step will be a good one but I will try my best to live up to your expectations since My Lord has entrusted the safety of his family to Lord Lie Fan, then I think we have some discussion to do Lord Lie Fan, for the future of Lu Bu's Force and Lord Lie Fan's Force."
Lie Fan nods his head and smiles in agreement with what Chen Going said, happy that he has taken the first step to have Lu Bu's forces all incorporated into him, and since Chen Gong can be said to be the interim ruler of Lu Bu's forces, for now, he can represent them in the decision making if their future.
Lady Yan trusts that Chen Gong will decide what's best for the force of her Husband, right now she is taking care of Lu Lingqi who has fainted while looking at the body of Lu Bu especially his face wanting to engrave it deeply into her heart.
Lie Fan seeing this told Chen Gong to have Lu Bu's body and his family taken to a safe place, while he wanted to talk with him, concerning the future of Lu Bu's Force and even the entirety of Qing Province.
Chen Gong nods his head and after ordering Lu Bu's general to protect and bring Lu Bu's body with Lady Yan and Lu Lingqi to safety, accompanied by Zhang Liao and Cheng Lian Chen Gong walks side by side with Lie Fan who was followed by his bodyguards.
The two of them talk about the future direction of Lu Bu's Force, Lie Fan blatantly says that since Lu Bu doesn't have a son or a male relative who could succeed in his position, the future of Lu Bu's forces looks bleak.
Lu Lingqi couldn't succeed in her Father's position as then the prestige of Lu Bu's force would be damaged, and not many people would want to follow a female leader in this era since women were second-class citizens.
Lastly, even though many of Lu Bu's generals trust and admire Chen Gong, that doesn't mean they will agree that he will succeed Lu Bu's position.
Chen Gong hearing what Lie Fan just said gave his agreement, he also knew that he would never be accepted by many of Lu Bu's generals to succeed Lu Bu, even Zhang Liao and Gao Shun will also objected.
As for Lu Lingqi, even though she was Lu Bu's only descendant she was a woman and that complicated the matter for her to succeed in her father's position since he was sure that except for some of Lu Bu's hardcore loyalists, many would object.
All of this was a cause of headaches for him to think of when accompanying Lady Yan since he knew that right now Lu Bu's army still listened to him but slowly it would change and people with their own ambition would surely either revolt or leave.
While thinking about all of this, Chen Gong told Lie Fan to say his point since he was sure that Lie Fan surely would not just talk about this matter without any objective whatsoever.
Lie Fan let out a loud laugh when heard what Chen Going said, since Chen Gong said so then Lie Fan immediately talked about his true purpose in wanting to talk with Chen Gong, which was to take over Lu Bu's Army and incorporate it into his own.
Chen Gong hearing what Lie Fan said was surprised as he didn't expect Lie Fan to have such ambition which is to incorporate around 100,000 of Lu Bu's men alongside its generals as his own.
Zhang Liao and Gao Shun who were behind Chen Gong also surprised, the two of them looked at each other not expecting Lie Fan to have such ambition, Lu Bu's Army can be said to be one of the smallest in Forces but their skill and experience was among the top.
At the same time, they think that it's better for them to serve Lie Fan than another Warlord or set up their own forces, since Lie Fan is taking care of Lu Bu's Family now and they want to live up to Lu Bu's sacrifice by taking care of his family.
Seeing the surprise on Chen Gong's face, Lie Fan continued by saying that rather than having all of them killed or joining other forces, or even setting up their own force, it's much better for them to become his, Chen Gon can think of this as some sort of compensation Lu Bu had to give to him for his request.
Chen Gong was silent for a while, all sorts of advantages or disadvantages alongside the consequences were circling Chen Gong's mind.
He feels that he couldn't make this decision on his own as he is not the Lord and even if Lady Yan entrusted the decision-making to him, he was sure that not many would agree with what he had done.
On the other hand, he also wants to continue his career and prove to the world that his decision to leave Cao Cao wasn't wrong, maybe his choice in Lu Bu was wrong now, but he thought that maybe by choosing Lie Fan he could achieve his previous conviction.
While Chen Gong was in a dilemma, Zhang Liao and Gao Shun were also in a discussion of their own albeit they were whispering, Zhang Liao felt that they should agree to Lie Fan's offer as he felt that they had better chances with Lie Fan than other Warlord.
Gao Shun, on the other hand, has his own reservations, like what if Lie Fan after receiving Lu Bu's army he will abandons Lu Bu's Family since it could have been his facade that by agreeing to Lu Bu's request, he can use it to usurp Lu Bu's Army.
Zhang Liao sort of agrees with what Gao Shun thinks, but he also tells Gao Shun that while they should also think of Lu Bu's family and their loyalty to Lu Bu, they should also think of their own career and future.
Hearing what Zhang Liao just said, Gao Shun was angered for a moment as he felt that Zhang Liao had abandoned his loyalty and conviction for Lu Bu, but soon he realized that it was normal for Zhang Liao to think for the next tree he should stay in.
Zhang Liao's point of view is normal in this era, just look at many of Lie Fan's generals, some of them are his enemies before but now they serve Lie Fan since this tree is much stronger and greener than the previous tree they stayed in.
Also since Lu Bu's family is in Lie Fan's care right now, Gao Shun slowly thinks that it is better for them to serve Lie Fan, he thinks that all of Lu Bu's inner circle will surely follow them, but he doesn't know about the rest.
Lie Fan who was waiting for Chen Ging's answer, turned his head and saw that Zhang Liao and Gao Shun like to come up with some sort of agreement, where they approached Chen Gong and whispered something to him.
Chen Gong who was suddenly approached by Zhang Liao and Gao Shun was surprised at first, but after hearing what they said and what they thought, Chen Gong finally came up with his decision.
Chen Gong bod his head toward Zhang Liao and Gao Shun then turned toward Lie Fan and gave his agreement with Lie Fan taking over Lu Bu's Army, he also said that He, Zhang Liao, and Gao Shun would help Lie Fan in persuading others, while as for Lady Yan and Lu Lingqi, they leave them to Lie Fan to persuade to agree of this matter, since if they agree that as sure that at least Lu Bu's hardcore loyalist will instantly switched to his side.
